MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
Hopefully they can get past this, but have it be a warning not to get in each other’s faces. Be miserable for 9 weeks...it may make you millions of dollars someday. No hugs, no fist bumps, no high fives, don’t spit near anyone, wear a mask where they tell you to, stay in your hotel room and get spankovision, whatever you have to do to lessen the possibility of getting and spreading it.

Funny, but they played. It counts.

Well, they tried. Even if they have to shut down the season, it was better for the game to do the summer camps, play some ball, and stay in the public view. It would have been much worse for MLB if they went from 2019 World Series to 2021 Opening Day (whenever that is), and then have an expiring CBA to boot.

Sox @ Tribe, 7/27, 6:10 CT, Gamethread - PPD Rain
Weather permitting. Indians don’t have Thursday off like the Sox, so maybe two tomorrow if they can’t get it in tonight. And remember the new game suspension rules. If they play under 5 innings, it still counts until they can resume the game.

May rain in Cleveland tomorrow night. Other than that, the road trip looks good. Not going to be hot in Kansas City next weekend, which is nice.

Slow starts stick out like a sore thumb, but this our team for the next 9 weeks, good or bad. (Assuming there will be very few trades in baseball)

Herrera is definitely in the “losing game” bullpen. The team record in games he’ll appear in will be bad.

Robert-Moncada 1-2 please

Ohtani didn’t retire a batter in the 1st. 5 earned. He was bad in a intrasquad game too. Not good.

Some stout ERAs. Since we’re going off on some interesting tangents...let’s lose the 83 uniforms until 2023.

Not kidding. I think teams should be allowed to give up on a game. 7 innings or 3 hours, whichever comes first.

Not watching the TV broadcast, but I feel sorry for Benetti having to stick with this game for 3 more hours. He called the KBO game overnight.

Right. That too. Actually try to social distance. Heck, they should have some fun with it while being totally serious about it.

MLB 2020 Catch-All thread
Absolutely. Really, they need to get it in their heads that they aren’t making physical contact with anyone at any time while they’re at the park outside of playing the game. Period.

He did say he’d like throw just one pitch for the White Sox. Maybe he should’ve. Ha.

I like Masur and DJ, but they just found out about the lineup change that we all knew about hours ago.

Ok, now! Was afraid he'd implode before the first pitch.

Pull the plug,

I honestly don't know how that can happen to a big leaguer. How long have these guys been playing baseball?

Get it in quicker, Eloy.

Moustakas scratched today, not feeling well.

Extra Inning Rule
Yes, they want to limit the exposure time, so trying to avoid 14+ inning games. Hopefully this is just a one year rule.

And kinda funny too

Extra Inning Rule
I posted this in the other thread: The extra inning rule with a man on 2nd. Watching MLB Network earlier, and Mark DeRosa nailed it— if they were going to do it, start it in the 12th inning. Play real baseball for at least 2 more innings. And he’s right. This is unscientific, but I looked at last year’s first 60 games for each team, and the average team played 5 extra inning games and 11 total extra innings (rounded up). Most games that go to extras, end in 10 or 11 anyway, so that would have been the way to go. Me personally? I would have no problem with ties after 12, but if they’re going to play the man on 2nd thing, start it in the 12th.

2020 AL Central thread.
58-game sprint in the ALC. Actually, the Astros are the only 2-0 team. Mariners are 0-2. Every other AL team is 1-1. Kinda wild.
