Buffalo Blue Jays. Good move. Glad they didn’t have to play the whole season on the road.

Opening Day Game Thread: Twins @ White Sox, 7:10 PM CT

The Braves don’t have Flowers or d’Arnaud tonight. Tested negative, but don’t feel well. If I’m a catcher or umpire, and a batter spits at the plate, you would get an earful. -
As far as I can tell, there are 26 in Schaumburg, plus Mazara. Ian Hamilton wasn’t sent to the taxi squad. Pitchers- Anderson, Burdi, Burr, Crochet, Dunning, Flores, Foster, Guerrero, Johnson, Lail, Lindgren, McRae, Mejia, Mitchell, Ruiz, Sousa, Stiever Catchers- Mercedes, Zavala Infield- Goins, Madrigal, Vaughn Outfield- Adolfo, Basabe, Gonzalez, Rutherford

Some counting stat conversions for shortened season
flavum replied to Dominikk85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hitting .400 would be a footnote of the season, not an actual all time accomplishment. Hitting .400 in early June, as rare as that’s been- nobody really expects that to last...and hasn’t for 79 years. it probably won’t happen anyway with loaded pens and starters emptying the tank more, only having to make 12 starts instead of 33. -
Going to try not to get into a back and forth here, but I think the next CBA needs to address tanking and the overall model of competition. But in the end, I want it to be difficult to make the postseason in baseball. That reflects the grind of 162. You win 86 to 89 games, there’s a good chance you’ll either come up just short or in the wildcard round. That’s exciting for the teams that make it, and hurts the teams that don’t. That’s what I like about the last couple weeks of the season.
-
I know it! With this one decision, I care so much less about the start of the season. The urgency for wins and the possibility of a crazy last two weeks of the season...now it’s a formality. Boring.
-
They’ll never go backwards on this. Dummies.
-
Who knows. Maybe Gio wants to get in a game with the Sox, and then he hangs em up? I know that may be a stretch, but he’s not getting younger, and his arm health has been in question. He has said it means a lot to him to pitch at least one game with the team that drafted him.
-
Really hope Mazara is back in a couple weeks. First, because of his health. But also I think he’ll be missed if he’s out too long. A month from now: in- Mazara, Madrigal, Goins out- Detwiler, Lambert, Herrera, Cordero, Cuthbert, Delmonico, Collins It’ll never really happen like this, but what the hey... edit: Goins out, Cordero in. They’ll stick with 13 pitchers when it’s down to 26.
-
I don’t think I ever once thought he’d make it.
-
Ha, when I saw the A’s released Goins, I had a feeling he’d be back.
-
Twins series Berrios- Giolito Hill- Keuchel (crafty lefty day) Maeda- Lopez
-
Lopez is starting Sunday Cease, Rodon, Giolito in Cleveland

A lot of teams have tweeted their rosters in the last hour. Soooo...., (at most, only 5 teams haven’t announced. C’mon Sox)
-
I totally think they’ll be greedy enough to keep it going after this season. (If it passes) Keeping the postseason the same this year would make the 60-game season more exciting and legitimate. When you make the playoffs in baseball, it’s supposed to feel great. When you come up a game or two short, it’s supposed to hurt. That’s part of the baseball fan experience. Just letting every mediocre team in would be boring.
-
Agreed, but then why do it at all? There will be under .500 teams at 8 in each league, more than likely. 6 in each league this year, I would have totally understood. 8 in each league...dumb. Teams picking their opponent...dumber.

He’s been doing Friday and Saturday night, mostly with Jessica Mendoza. I would assume that’s done now. -

There have been more surprising moves in baseball the past week if the Sox just cut Fulmer and went with Dunning or Heuer. But we’ll see. -

He’ll pitch. He may not be good, but the day is coming next week. -
Will they go back to 10 total next year? Promise that. That’s my concern. It’s supposed to be really hard to make the playoffs in baseball.
