Agreed. I’ve never been into rankings because a lot of the time guys are ranked higher based on not playing. I would rather see rankings based on some accomplishment rather than speculation in how his tools will translate...and then they don’t or he gets hurt.

The Sox aren’t dropping to 7th, so I’ll take that out of the equation. I’d want the highest pick possible with the exception of dropping from 5th to 6th by beating the Cubs enough to knock them out of a division win. But we’re not going to know that while playing them, so I don’t think I’d enjoy Sox wins next weekend to be honest. 4 series left- I’ll take 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 2-2, and whatever pick it is, fine.

Yeah. I don’t know for a fact they’ll cancel it, but it wouldn’t make much sense to make it up. Just have to assume they have one more loss than they do now.

To me it's clear the 5-year window of winning they're trying to cultivate is 2021-2025....especially now that Kopech's first full season will be 2020 (hopefully). 2019 will be bad. 2020 will be fun as hell (again, hopefully). 2021-2025 playoffs, ALCS's, maybe a World Series or two (have I mentioned hopefully?).

Nah. He'll be back, and probably will start the season in the rotation and place hold until he proves again he's not good or a minor leaguer takes his spot.

Hopefully the Indians have a post-celebration hangover today and before a Monday off day...and the Tigers win. Tigers final two weeks- 3 vs Min, 4 vs KC, 3 at Min, 3 at Mil Including today, 7-7 would be nice. The Sox just have to match them to have a higher pick. 5th would be fine.

3rd ain't happening. Marlins are getting that. 6-9 (64-98), we got a shot at 4th. 7-8, 5th or 6th 8 or 9 wins, definitely 6th 10-5...don't do that.

Callis talking about trading Zack Collins to a team that thinks he's a catcher doesn't make me feel good about him. It would be nice if they could figure out how to get Realmuto and then sign him long term. The Sox need a real catcher and it would be good if they could get him catching Giolito and Lopez next season.

It may contribute, but I also think it's a mental wall that hits a lot of guys that usually end their season on Labor Day. And then there's just baseball ebbs and flows. The Sox are a bad team, so a 7-game losing streak even to bad teams shouldn't be a huge surprise.

Looks like the storm will be more south by the weekend (Braves hosting Nats). The Sox/Orioles might have some Friday scattered showers, but they'll get three games in this weekend. Just a terrible storm, by the way. The rainfall amounts will be incredible.

That's another issue...would pitchers try to nip the outside corner with breaking pitches that are technically in the zone but the catcher receives it in a spot that would currently be called a ball? Again, I think the unintended consequences of the robo ump would drastically change the game for the worse. And not only would it change the game on the field...it's just less interesting. It's ok to be imperfect and have some nose-to-nose fights once in a while.
