The bad news is the Marlins will have one fewer game to get to that win total. It kinda sucks there's a scenario where the Marlins get the 3rd pick, but if they played and won Game 162 vs the Pirates, they would have dropped to 6. It could happen.

Agreed. I’ve never been into rankings because a lot of the time guys are ranked higher based on not playing. I would rather see rankings based on some accomplishment rather than speculation in how his tools will translate...and then they don’t or he gets hurt.

The Sox aren’t dropping to 7th, so I’ll take that out of the equation. I’d want the highest pick possible with the exception of dropping from 5th to 6th by beating the Cubs enough to knock them out of a division win. But we’re not going to know that while playing them, so I don’t think I’d enjoy Sox wins next weekend to be honest. 4 series left- I’ll take 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 2-2, and whatever pick it is, fine.

To me it's clear the 5-year window of winning they're trying to cultivate is 2021-2025....especially now that Kopech's first full season will be 2020 (hopefully). 2019 will be bad. 2020 will be fun as hell (again, hopefully). 2021-2025 playoffs, ALCS's, maybe a World Series or two (have I mentioned hopefully?).

Callis talking about trading Zack Collins to a team that thinks he's a catcher doesn't make me feel good about him. It would be nice if they could figure out how to get Realmuto and then sign him long term. The Sox need a real catcher and it would be good if they could get him catching Giolito and Lopez next season.

It may contribute, but I also think it's a mental wall that hits a lot of guys that usually end their season on Labor Day. And then there's just baseball ebbs and flows. The Sox are a bad team, so a 7-game losing streak even to bad teams shouldn't be a huge surprise.
