Big week for Eloy
Jimenez got a double in his first AB and was replaced with a pinch runner. Yuck.

WS: Dodgers v Astros
I feel like if the Astros only try to hit homers, the same thing is going to happen tonight that did last night. They might get one, but that's about it. Altuve and Correa have to be stars tonight, or LA will be winning.

Off Season Buy Low Candidates
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Ugh, please no more guys who are coming off the stuff. Exactly. Once you’re in the MLBPA, and get busted, you’re dead to me.

WS: Dodgers v Astros
QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 21, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) Astros in 6 Altuve MVP I suppose if Altuve has a big game, it's possible, but Bregman and Springer are probably leading that unless I'm forgetting something. A Game 7 would be cool, but I'm hoping Verlander throws a complete game, and the Astros win 2-0.

WS: Dodgers v Astros
Definitely some bargaining happened with the MLBPA. Personally, I think a fine would have been a just penalty, but these aren’t the old days. If has to be a suspension, then it should have been just tonight and move on. Anyway, I hope he goes 0-4 tonight, and the Dodgers tie it up.

Just based on precedence, I don't think Gurriel is going to avoid not playing tonight. Manfred is meeting with him, and I'm sure the Astros' hands are tied. Childish move. I wish they could fine him heavily and move on, but other guys have been suspended for things not on TV.

2017 Watercooler TV thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 27, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Maybe it's just me but I thought the first season of Stranger Things was a bit overrated. Agreed. There’s a lot of tv like that. It’s not bad, just overrated. I’m looking at you, This Is Us.

Our Next Manager?
Renteria did a good with what he had, and will obviously get a full three years. He’ll be judged on the progression in 18 and 19.

Btw, our next manager? Still Justin Jirschele.

Our Next Manager?
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) I think Yanks want an AJ Hinch type. Josh Paul would qualify, I suppose. Mattingly would be an easy pick, but maybe they want to get away from that profile.

Our Next Manager?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) My guess is that he eventually ends up in Miami with Jeter. Agreed. Just swap Mattingly and Girardi and get it over with.

Realignment/Expansion
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 07:07 PM) why not? we have 16 in basketball and hockey. and 12 in football. more teams in the playoffs and "in contention" equal larger local and national ratings. which equals more money. and more money means teams like the sox have more to spend. f*** major realignment. im for the preservation of what's left of the leagues. you do regional conferences and divisions, and you will watch the sport die. my idea creates a march madness like atmosphere for the first round of games. you'll have 3-5 games on every day for a week or so. 12 teams just finished 2017 with a winning record. You’d want to add four more losing teams just for more random small sample playoffs? That’s nonsense. The regular season needs to be the toughest test, and the postseason exclusive. And I’m against radical realignment too. I’d just stack the leagues like I outlined in post 118. Or even better, don’t expand at all. That would be my first preference.

Realignment/Expansion
8 divisions of 4 teams wouldn’t work in baseball. Teams under .500 would make the playoffs if they did it, and it’s not happening. It’s either: Two 16-team leagues with a nearly balanced schedule (see post #118) or 4 divisions of 8 teams, major realignment, the unbalanced schedule, and 6 or 8 wildcards Btw Ewok- 16 out of 32 playoff teams in baseball? No way. No how.
