There's no need to clear a spot for Soto right now, and you don't have to proactively clear a spot before a trade--there's wiggle room there after a trade is made. I would guess this is a new free agent being added.

I notice Bourjos was never added to the NRI list. Did he possibly get a major league deal, and now it's going to be official?

Bruce Levine was on the Score and is sticking with the Sox trading Quintana before reporting day. But he also said he was basing this on his own feelings, not inside information. I agree with him, but if it isn't tomorrow, I think we'll see Q pitching in the WBC as Sox property.

Do what you want in the minors, but for the major leagues? No. I'd be more for ties after 12 innings than starting a guy on 2nd base.

The risk of the value decreasing by July plus getting a higher pick in 2018 need to be in the equation. Trade him before Opening Day and make the best deal possible.

It's a nice thought that the 75th pick is eligible to be moved, but that seems too low to get excited about being part of a trade with Houston for Q.

All of this reaffirms my belief there's little chance he's with the Sox in two weeks. They're dropping more media bombs to force the issue and make the best possible deal before spring training.

Nah, I still feel like Quintana gets traded in the next 10 days. Hopefully six months from today, we're liking the 7-8 trades total they've made.
