  3. If and when the Royals fall out of it this year, they're going to be the team cleaning up on trades at the deadline. The Sox are trading Quintana before opening day, probably way sooner.
  4. Spring training starts in 4 weeks. Judge teams then. There are tons of free agents still out there. There are still players available via trade. All this media stuff is part of the game. Take it all with a grain of salt and just wait for actual moves.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) The Levine article seems like an intentional media play by the sox. So far we have not heard anything about talks advancing with any particular club. "Sweetening" is pretty vague. I'm not really paying attention to media stuff other than the Sox want to make more trades, and Quintana is in demand and his value can't get much higher. They'll move him before opening day, but my prediction has been before Soxfest.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) I agree...seems like something will go down in the next 7 to 10 days. I was going to say the Tuesday before Soxfest, which happens to be Quintana's birthday. Maybe the day after. He'll get traded before he has to fly to Chicago.

  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) A Garcia-Garcia-Garcia outfield, and potentally a Gio soto - Geo Soto battery. That's gotta happen in spring training. That's a must.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 02:07 PM) And this was from Dan Szymborskis chat: Rick Hahn 2:10 Why am I having such a hard time finding a match for Quintana (in a pitching starved market no less)? Dan Szymborski 2:10 I think they're still in the asking for the stars phase. If they don't settle for the moon, then worry. That's where I think Soxfest comes into play. I know it's not set in stone that they have to move him, but they want to move him. With the media exposure that comes, I don't think Quintana is on the roster on the 27th. His 28th birthday is January 24. I say before...he gone.
  10. I still think all of this is just talk. He's gone before pitchers report, and probably before Soxfest.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) Guys if Meadows was already on the table Q would be a pirate. Agree with that. In the end, I expect Quintana on the Astros without Bregman involved.
  12. Jackie Brown, Sox pitching coach 1992-1995, died at 73. https://twitter.com/Sullivan_Ranger/status/...488695980433408
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) So, is this thing any closer to a resolution or is this dragging on until ST? It's anyone's guess. My guess...50/50 he's traded before Soxfest. 75% chance he's gone before Feb. 14.
  14. Beware of tweets that say "team X" are the frontrunners in a trade. Beware of tweets from Jon Morosi, who needs to spew verbal diarrhea on MLB Network for 10 minutes. It's all horses*** until it's actually done.
  15. The Sox are not getting Meadows or Bregman. Carry on...
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Wake me up when we get the "White Sox close to Quintana trade" tweet. We've heard enough of the talking. dingdingdingdingding
  17. Bregman isn't happening. Just feels like Q to the Pirates is going to happen eventually, with the Yankees in the picture.
  18. https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/816730639600914437 Pitchers and catchers report in 41 days. He'll be gone.
  19. If there was an option just to watch the game with the ambient crowd noise, I would use it.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 10:53 AM) What this means is, if Quintana and Frazier are traded you are looking at roughly 20 zWAR. That's about a 66-67 win team generally. Sounds good.
  21. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) 162 known ballots or approx. 40% of votes counted. Bagwell and Raines still above 90%. Ivan Rodriguez and Guerrero still both above the 75% needed to get in. Bonds and Clemens both with big spikes upward compared to last year. There's a column on that spreadsheet for players that would get votes if they could vote for more than 10. Looks like Vlad is getting hurt by being on the ballot for the first time, otherwise he would be way up there too. It's interesting...the ones that made their votes public early are more likely to vote for Clemens and Bonds, so now the last 60% of the ballots, will they drop them for guys like Ivan and Vlad and Hoffman to get over 75%?
  22. William Christopher, Father Mulcahy from MASH. And 2016 is a wrap.
  23. Sox traded Quentin five years ago today, also a Saturday.
