  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) Yaaaaaaaaaaawn. Pretty much. We get it. Call me when the deal is done.
  2. Sponsored by Total Lubricants. WTF.
  3. Nothing official, but not every guy deserves their own thread. Jason Bourgeois re-signed. The Sox signed lefty pitcher Cory Luebke, and catcher Carson Blair. Other non-rosters: C Geovany Soto UTL Cody Asche LP Matt Purke RP Blake Smith IF Everth Cabrera I'm sure other guys with major league experience will get added, plus guys like Burdi and Collins from the system.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 02:07 PM) If we're going to hate on talented, cocky, young kids then this rebuild is really going to be tough. Yeah, unfortunately acting like Nick Swisher is now the norm, and not the exception. Millennials.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) If they aren't over 75% now, Hoffman and Vlad aren't making it this time around. Probably not, but I'm not saying that definitively. With a lot of the old-schoolers getting chopped off the electorate last year, I'm still holding out a little hope. In my opinion, they should find a format that three, and only three, former MLB players get in each year. That would be a good percentage of former players that get in. It's more than the top 1%, but still less than 2%. Plus then it wouldn't take 75% to get in. The whole steroid era kinda messed it all up with the backlog.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) Typically the percentages drop with the last ballots, so it will be interesting to see if IRod holds on. I'm hoping the remaining ballots are the non-Bonds/Clemens people, and their votes are more pro-Guerrero. Only 2 would be disappointing. 3 is ok, but no Guerrero is a joke. 4 or 5 would be very nice.
  7. http://www.bbhoftracker.com/ 51.7% of the ballots public. Raines - 89.8% Bagwell - 88.4% Rodriguez - 78.2% -- Hoffman - 72.4% Guerrero - 72.0% Announcement tomorrow at 5pm. I'm not a Hoffman guy, but he's getting in eventually, so I'm rooting for 5 guys to get in tomorrow.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 12:28 PM) How is Kopech a dbag for throwing hard? It's not that. It's the whole persona that he's putting out there, as a AA pitcher.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) Yup. Dude needs some humble pie. I want him to be a bad ass but it's also already kinda hard to root for him. There's a high D Bag factor there already. On the pitching side of things, it's too bad locating and changing speeds seem to be secondary to lighting up the radar gun. If Buehrle was a college player now, would he even get drafted?
  10. For the Astros: 32 starts, 209 innings, 3.43 ERA

  13. If and when the Royals fall out of it this year, they're going to be the team cleaning up on trades at the deadline. The Sox are trading Quintana before opening day, probably way sooner.
  14. Spring training starts in 4 weeks. Judge teams then. There are tons of free agents still out there. There are still players available via trade. All this media stuff is part of the game. Take it all with a grain of salt and just wait for actual moves.
  15. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) The Levine article seems like an intentional media play by the sox. So far we have not heard anything about talks advancing with any particular club. "Sweetening" is pretty vague. I'm not really paying attention to media stuff other than the Sox want to make more trades, and Quintana is in demand and his value can't get much higher. They'll move him before opening day, but my prediction has been before Soxfest.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) I agree...seems like something will go down in the next 7 to 10 days. I was going to say the Tuesday before Soxfest, which happens to be Quintana's birthday. Maybe the day after. He'll get traded before he has to fly to Chicago.

    QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) A Garcia-Garcia-Garcia outfield, and potentally a Gio soto - Geo Soto battery. That's gotta happen in spring training. That's a must.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 02:07 PM) And this was from Dan Szymborskis chat: Rick Hahn 2:10 Why am I having such a hard time finding a match for Quintana (in a pitching starved market no less)? Dan Szymborski 2:10 I think they're still in the asking for the stars phase. If they don't settle for the moon, then worry. That's where I think Soxfest comes into play. I know it's not set in stone that they have to move him, but they want to move him. With the media exposure that comes, I don't think Quintana is on the roster on the 27th. His 28th birthday is January 24. I say before...he gone.
  20. I still think all of this is just talk. He's gone before pitchers report, and probably before Soxfest.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) Guys if Meadows was already on the table Q would be a pirate. Agree with that. In the end, I expect Quintana on the Astros without Bregman involved.
  22. Jackie Brown, Sox pitching coach 1992-1995, died at 73. https://twitter.com/Sullivan_Ranger/status/...488695980433408
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) So, is this thing any closer to a resolution or is this dragging on until ST? It's anyone's guess. My guess...50/50 he's traded before Soxfest. 75% chance he's gone before Feb. 14.
  24. Beware of tweets that say "team X" are the frontrunners in a trade. Beware of tweets from Jon Morosi, who needs to spew verbal diarrhea on MLB Network for 10 minutes. It's all horses*** until it's actually done.
  25. The Sox are not getting Meadows or Bregman. Carry on...
