QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) Match? For Robertson it can't be that tough to find an intriguing prospect or two. We're not talking about a Q deal here. That's what I think too. For him, lower the expectations, but just make a deal.
-
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) I think that's such a huge "if". Teams were absolutely crushing Robertson's fastball this year. I don't know if it was just that he was tired on back to back games, or if he's regressing. I would probably dump him now rather than risk it. Agreed. If there's anyone who is most likely to get traded before Christmas, it's Robertson.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
flavum replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just like the idea of getting a positional player that could potentially play 150+ games and be awesome for a pitcher that can only do so much with the 33 games he's given. Quintana is very good, and there's no reason to think he won't continue to have very good seasons, but ya know, Greg Hibbard, Mike Sirotka, and John Danks all had a few good seasons too. Don't get me wrong, Quintana may be more of a Buehrle type than those other guys, but stuff happens. Give me the bat. -

QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) I say no. Here's why, Bregman is not a more valuable prospect than Moncada to me. For Sale we got Moncada, Kopech, and two more prospects. The drop off between that package and just Bregman is much much more than the value of Sale to Quintana. For Houston, like it or not, the market was set by the Sale trade. Just because they aren't willing to part with Bregman doesn't mean him alone is enough value for Quintana. At this point, Bregman is more of a sure thing than Moncada is. Again, not happening, but yes I would take Bregman for Q 1-for-1. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:07 AM) Oddly quiet this morning. I'm still expecting a deal for us today, regardless of how quiet the Thursday of meetings usually is. The meetings end when the Rule 5 is completed. Travel day. Don't expect anything today, and maybe not until next week. -
Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

Luhnow sounded pretty convincing yesterday when he said they wouldn't trade Bregman or Springer to address their rotation. It's going to have to be more like the other trades to move Q to Houston. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Are you including guys like Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, etc? Those three are on the major league 40-man, so no.

Sox pass in the AAA phase

The Sox only have 29 players on their AAA roster. They could potentially take 8 guys in this phase...

Give me Heyman and Rosenthal or give me death. -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) That would make it 40. Double check that.
-
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) Does anyone here know what impact these acquisitions have on our 40 man roster? Eaton subtracted. Giolito and Lopez added. I believe the Sox are at 39 and can pick somebody tomorrow.

When it's only pitchers coming back, it really runs the risk to blow up in their faces, but come on, this is exciting stuff. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) If I remember right, tomorrow is usually a non-event for news, so either stuff picks up later today or tonight or the meetings will end up having been very quiet. That said, I think we see a few more moves before Christmas. I also think if the Sox plan on moving Q, they would move him pretty quickly (as by and large the same suitors for Sale would be in on Q and we'd have presumably already done a ton of vetting on those lists, etc). Yes, it really ends tonight. The Rule 5 is first thing in the morning, and then everyone leaves. -
Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+

Nobody thought Sale was bad in the clubhouse with teammates. He just hates authority. -

flavum replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hahn on MLB Network talked about Kopech being part of the front of the rotation with Rodon someday. No mention of Q. It's going to happen, just a matter of when. You would think they established names available with Sale, so they can get a deal done sooner than later. -
Announcement in about an hour of who wins.
-
Hope more moves happen today, but it's just a matter of time for a lot more. The next few weeks should bring a lot of new names.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Conveniently, the White Sox have a manager who speaks spanish. Hopefully if he's here for 5-6 years, he'll also be able to communicate with the media and the fanbase too.
