  1. That's what I figured after Merkin's column and Brennan got dropped.
  2. Baseball America is updating this as teams announce... http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/40-m...5ZKYjCE4zSwX.97 I've also seen the Rockies added former Sox Yency Almonte.
  3. I wonder if the Sox are just waiting for the Dodgers to say the right thing. When it comes to moving Sale, the NL West is the best landing spot from a PR standpoint. Trading to an AL team that they face every year, or an East team that gets more attention would hurt a little more. Don't get me wrong, they should just get the best deal, but would you rather see Sale in a Red Sox uniform, or Quintana? Me? I want Sale on the Dodgers hopefully eliminating the Cubs in a playoff game.
  4. QUOTE (Jimmy3Putt @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) I long for the days when men didn't ask each other "how they feel emotionally." That's awesome. We root for laundry, and Sale isn't likable enough for me to care. Get good players that can win 90+ games without PEDs, and if they're cool dudes like Todd Frazier, then all the better.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) So they would just remove the previous and next game's starting pitchers as well as an additional starter who may not be throwing a side-session that day. Doesn't really do anything. Good point. I do think when people say 25-man turned in September, they can still have tons of bullpen arms. Bottom line, these games with 9 pen guys and the Terrance Gore's of the world being there for a month have to stop.
  6. It would never happen, but I think there should be a daily 22-man roster turned in, with your entire organization eligible, and ties called after 12 innings.
  7. All I want is consistency from Day 1 to Day 182. The 40-man expansion in September is completely outdated and terrible for the game for the Wildcard Era.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Surprised he made no mention of Will Lamb, even as a consideration. Lefty reliever who is nails against LHB, proved it in AAA for a year, they acquire him for a legit prospect (Jaye) so the club obviously sees something in him, and lefty relievers are exactly the kind of player that other teams go for in the Rule 5. But we'll see. I wouldn't be surprised if more than two get added tomorrow. Merkin probably knows at minimum these two will, and he's just being nice to Hawkins because he's eligible. As you mentioned, they have a few guys that could be taken off the 40-man, if they want to add more than two.
  9. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Chris sale will be with the white sox in 2017. I picked the Dodgers, but deep down, I agree. I'll believe when I see it.
  10. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/209...-40-man-roster/ Merkin mentioning Engel and Goldberg.
  11. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Sox had better get a real good haul for Sale or you just don't trade him. I'm thinking Sale and Frazier to the Dodgers for Seager, De Leon and Puig. Seager and De Leon are good young pieces to build on and from the Dodgers standpoint: Sale and Kershaw, are you kidding? They'd maybe be able to beat the Cubs next year, they'd have to be tempted even giving up Seager. Seager isn't getting traded. Trea Turner isn't either.
  12. Sale and Frazier to LA. Quintana and Abreu to Bos..but probably not.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) I don't understand the outrage on this one. This is, at most, a slight snub. I think if you take relievers out of the equation, it becomes easier to determine the winner. One of the Tampa writers turned in his ballot a week early. Verlander went 14+ innings and one earned run after that.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 06:30 PM) That shouldn't happen... Rigged. 2 voters didn't have Verlander in the top 5. Both from TB.
  15. Verlander most 1st place votes, finished 2nd. Porcello won. Britton's votes killed Verlander. Time to eliminate relievers from Cy consideration. Sale finished 5th. Scherzer won the NL easily.
  16. Exhibition games in Milwaukee before opening day. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/798934175730515972
  17. Sox and Dodgers play two 2-game series in 2017.
  18. I always feel like when it's talked about, it rarely ends up happening. Maybe this is the Sox sending messages to other teams to get serious with offers. It doesn't guarantee future success, but a tear down would be pretty bold and something to talk about.
  19. That Source stuff is laughable. A non tender wouldn't be official until 12-2. I don't doubt he's gone, but there are people on twitter that know stuff, and some that just want attention.
  20. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 08:02 PM) Someone on twitter speculated that maybe the Sox just told Lawrie that he won't be returning to the team because they are going to non-tender him IF they can't find a trading spot for him. So could be that he's not returning, but via what transaction we may not know until the 2nd. Exactly what I'm thinking too.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 12, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) Hopefully there's a possibility of a trade so we can at least get something for him. That would be nice, otherwise it may take a few weeks before they announce it.
  22. He changed his avatar and it no longer says White Sox 2b on his Twitter.
  23. Can you bump something else so we can see something other than Congrats Cubs?
  24. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:34 AM) Does Free Agency start today? Yes, players are allowed to sign with new teams now.
