  1. I'm going to choose to believe the CBA gets done or they continue with the old rules while they work on it. They have the non tender date coming up, the winter meetings, and the rule 5 draft on the 8th. If the lockout happens, please hold off until the 9th.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 9m9 minutes ago Anthony Ranaudo's departure to Japan leaves the #WhiteSox 40-man roster at 39. Wrong country there, Danny. He did spell his name right though.
  3. QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) No problem, apparently any prospect on the Dodgers is available. So the "Urias is off limits" fuzz is just that. However, I was told that if the Dodgers include Urias they are not keen on including Bellinger, but that was just for Sale straight up. If White Sox added more I'm sure Bellinger would be added. Only other name that was mentioned is Calhoun ( White Sox//Kenny Williams love him) The thing about Calhoun is the least surprising thing ever. I said last night the Sox are probably falling in love with some of these Dodgers guys simply because they're around them all the time in Glendale, and being on the same AFL team as the Sox. I could totally see KW getting tunnel vision on Calhoun among other Dodger guys. Hope he's right.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Would you guys prefer Bregman or Springer as the headliner? Bregman, younger and more years of control- and extremely talented. But I like the way the Sox match up with LA better for a monster haul.
  5. Ranaudo heading to Korea.
  6. Without Donald Fehr involved, I'm optimistic they'll work it out. Amazing how some adult fans have no memory of the 94-95 strike. 21 years without a stoppage is pretty amazing considering how bad it was for decades.
  7. I'm not going to worry about media reports one way or the other. Let's just see what happens over the next month or so.
  8. We're not that far away! Oh wait, yeah we are.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Possible, but in the next hour? Lamb becomes the biggest draft risk, with Delmonico behind him some distance, then a list of really-not-likely guys. It seems the Sox like Purke better than Lamb as a left reliever. Looks like the deadline is 7pm. Unlikely anything happens, but never know.
  10. Wouldn't surprise me if another minor deal happened today and Will Lamb got added. Late moves have happened before.
  11. That's what I figured after Merkin's column and Brennan got dropped.
  12. Baseball America is updating this as teams announce... http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/40-m...5ZKYjCE4zSwX.97 I've also seen the Rockies added former Sox Yency Almonte.
  13. I wonder if the Sox are just waiting for the Dodgers to say the right thing. When it comes to moving Sale, the NL West is the best landing spot from a PR standpoint. Trading to an AL team that they face every year, or an East team that gets more attention would hurt a little more. Don't get me wrong, they should just get the best deal, but would you rather see Sale in a Red Sox uniform, or Quintana? Me? I want Sale on the Dodgers hopefully eliminating the Cubs in a playoff game.
  14. QUOTE (Jimmy3Putt @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) I long for the days when men didn't ask each other "how they feel emotionally." That's awesome. We root for laundry, and Sale isn't likable enough for me to care. Get good players that can win 90+ games without PEDs, and if they're cool dudes like Todd Frazier, then all the better.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) So they would just remove the previous and next game's starting pitchers as well as an additional starter who may not be throwing a side-session that day. Doesn't really do anything. Good point. I do think when people say 25-man turned in September, they can still have tons of bullpen arms. Bottom line, these games with 9 pen guys and the Terrance Gore's of the world being there for a month have to stop.
  16. It would never happen, but I think there should be a daily 22-man roster turned in, with your entire organization eligible, and ties called after 12 innings.
  17. All I want is consistency from Day 1 to Day 182. The 40-man expansion in September is completely outdated and terrible for the game for the Wildcard Era.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Surprised he made no mention of Will Lamb, even as a consideration. Lefty reliever who is nails against LHB, proved it in AAA for a year, they acquire him for a legit prospect (Jaye) so the club obviously sees something in him, and lefty relievers are exactly the kind of player that other teams go for in the Rule 5. But we'll see. I wouldn't be surprised if more than two get added tomorrow. Merkin probably knows at minimum these two will, and he's just being nice to Hawkins because he's eligible. As you mentioned, they have a few guys that could be taken off the 40-man, if they want to add more than two.
  19. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Chris sale will be with the white sox in 2017. I picked the Dodgers, but deep down, I agree. I'll believe when I see it.
  20. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/209...-40-man-roster/ Merkin mentioning Engel and Goldberg.
  21. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Sox had better get a real good haul for Sale or you just don't trade him. I'm thinking Sale and Frazier to the Dodgers for Seager, De Leon and Puig. Seager and De Leon are good young pieces to build on and from the Dodgers standpoint: Sale and Kershaw, are you kidding? They'd maybe be able to beat the Cubs next year, they'd have to be tempted even giving up Seager. Seager isn't getting traded. Trea Turner isn't either.
  22. Sale and Frazier to LA. Quintana and Abreu to Bos..but probably not.
  23. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) I don't understand the outrage on this one. This is, at most, a slight snub. I think if you take relievers out of the equation, it becomes easier to determine the winner. One of the Tampa writers turned in his ballot a week early. Verlander went 14+ innings and one earned run after that.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 06:30 PM) That shouldn't happen... Rigged. 2 voters didn't have Verlander in the top 5. Both from TB.
  25. Verlander most 1st place votes, finished 2nd. Porcello won. Britton's votes killed Verlander. Time to eliminate relievers from Cy consideration. Sale finished 5th. Scherzer won the NL easily.
