  1. You can cherry pick every team this way. Every executive is going to have some wins. Bottom line, good job in 05...that team worked out. Since then, while trying to win, it's been a bad situation. Without 05 under his belt, he would have been gone a long time ago.
  2. Duh. The Sox are dealing with 24 teams that are interested in Sale. If they can't get enough leverage with that, then they better lower their asking price.
  3. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) I wonder what our backup plan is now .. Ha! funny.
  4. He's got his courses he likes to play. Can't blame him.
  5. If they trade Sale, there's no point in keeping Frazier and Cabrera, and that rotation isn't good enough. I'm sorry, but if Sale goes, we should also want top 5 picks in 2018 and 2019. Assets.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) See, I dont understand this logic. You dont want them to be better and have a good season next year? You do realize you dont HAVE TO SUCK for years to rebuild and just because you do doesnt ensure you will have a successful rebuild either, right? If they trade Sale and they happen to have a good year it may mean that they hit big on some talent that they brought over and the current group they had either played to their potential or made progress. Is that really that bad? Not every team has to do it the Cubs or Royals way to be successful. They've won one postseason game 2006-2016. They already do suck. What's another another 2-3 years, if there's a better path to winning with players that can actually play together for years at a time, and not just rely on luck and other teams having bad years? I know it's a risk to rebuild, but what they've done over the last 7-8 years has been an absolute failure. It's time they try to acquire assets upon assets, and make their own luck.
  7. Honestly, I hope not. Trading Sale should be part of a true rebuild. They should be punting on 2017 and 2018, with the plan of being an interesting team by 2019, and a postseason team 2020-2023.
  8. JJ Cooper of BA: White Sox have been thin on catching for years. Good pickup for them. Solid catch and throw with 30 bat.
  9. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) Just added the link in an edit. Thanks.
  10. Everybody running to baseball-reference to see who that may be...
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) You guessing? Yes. I like the Sale and Frazier package deal, and I can see Kenny and Hahn being very familiar with their guys coming back. ...and I think Wednesday because it's before the other deadlines, and before the Meetings. This would qualify as the 'first move' Hahn was talking about.
  12. As far as Sale, he's going to the Dodgers in about 55 hours. Wednesday afternoon.
  13. I'm going to choose to believe the CBA gets done or they continue with the old rules while they work on it. They have the non tender date coming up, the winter meetings, and the rule 5 draft on the 8th. If the lockout happens, please hold off until the 9th.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 9m9 minutes ago Anthony Ranaudo's departure to Japan leaves the #WhiteSox 40-man roster at 39. Wrong country there, Danny. He did spell his name right though.
  15. QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) No problem, apparently any prospect on the Dodgers is available. So the "Urias is off limits" fuzz is just that. However, I was told that if the Dodgers include Urias they are not keen on including Bellinger, but that was just for Sale straight up. If White Sox added more I'm sure Bellinger would be added. Only other name that was mentioned is Calhoun ( White Sox//Kenny Williams love him) The thing about Calhoun is the least surprising thing ever. I said last night the Sox are probably falling in love with some of these Dodgers guys simply because they're around them all the time in Glendale, and being on the same AFL team as the Sox. I could totally see KW getting tunnel vision on Calhoun among other Dodger guys. Hope he's right.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Would you guys prefer Bregman or Springer as the headliner? Bregman, younger and more years of control- and extremely talented. But I like the way the Sox match up with LA better for a monster haul.
  17. Ranaudo heading to Korea.
  18. Without Donald Fehr involved, I'm optimistic they'll work it out. Amazing how some adult fans have no memory of the 94-95 strike. 21 years without a stoppage is pretty amazing considering how bad it was for decades.
  19. I'm not going to worry about media reports one way or the other. Let's just see what happens over the next month or so.
  20. We're not that far away! Oh wait, yeah we are.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Possible, but in the next hour? Lamb becomes the biggest draft risk, with Delmonico behind him some distance, then a list of really-not-likely guys. It seems the Sox like Purke better than Lamb as a left reliever. Looks like the deadline is 7pm. Unlikely anything happens, but never know.
  22. Wouldn't surprise me if another minor deal happened today and Will Lamb got added. Late moves have happened before.
  23. That's what I figured after Merkin's column and Brennan got dropped.
  24. Baseball America is updating this as teams announce... http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/40-m...5ZKYjCE4zSwX.97 I've also seen the Rockies added former Sox Yency Almonte.
  25. I wonder if the Sox are just waiting for the Dodgers to say the right thing. When it comes to moving Sale, the NL West is the best landing spot from a PR standpoint. Trading to an AL team that they face every year, or an East team that gets more attention would hurt a little more. Don't get me wrong, they should just get the best deal, but would you rather see Sale in a Red Sox uniform, or Quintana? Me? I want Sale on the Dodgers hopefully eliminating the Cubs in a playoff game.
