Lawrie/Garcia could be non-tenders
https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/804831267015585792 I would assume he means next, not best. And he's probably talking about tendering contracts, not new players. Anyway.....

Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
I get people just want him gone (me included), but let's take it all in over the next few weeks. There are no games for four months.

Avi Garcia tendered a $3 million contract
QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) We're officially rebuilding Pretty much. I want to be pissed about this, but it doesn't really matter for a team that's going 66-96 in 2017. Maybe he shocks the world and turns into a player...probably not.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
Wasn't Miguel Montero one of the guys that had a problem with Eaton? Kinda speaks for itself.

I've seen the deadline was changed from 11pm to 7pm central.

White Sox to Move Eaton?
There are a few guys that I just don't care what they have to say about anything. Morosi, Bowden, Cafardo. Just ignore it.

The CBA is done - formerly the CBA is not done thread
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Surprised no major moves have been made yet. I thought things would've happened quickly once this thing was resolved. The next 7 days will probably be very active. Non tenders tomorrow, the meetings next week ending with the rule 5 draft next Thursday morning. Hopefully it won't be a dud.

If it were up to me, they would eliminate divisions, play a close to balanced schedule, and seed the teams 1-15. The higher seed, either league, would get HFA in the World Series. So the incentive to finish higher in your league would be there to the end of the season. If it's the same seed from each league, then it would go to win total.

Adding another half week in 2018 is going to make for some weird interleague play scheduling. Trust me on that. Opening Day will probably be March 29, 2018.

Will Brett Lawrie be Non-Tendered?
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 06:04 AM) Resolution on this by Friday? Unless there's a lockout or he gets traded, they'll announce something on Friday. Avisail safe under a rebuild mode?

Winter Meeting Poll
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) As far as Sale, he's going to the Dodgers in about 55 hours. Wednesday afternoon. I'll settle for the Astros.

Kenny Williams is an ALL TIME BAD GM: Hear me out
You can cherry pick every team this way. Every executive is going to have some wins. Bottom line, good job in 05...that team worked out. Since then, while trying to win, it's been a bad situation. Without 05 under his belt, he would have been gone a long time ago.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs
Duh. The Sox are dealing with 24 teams that are interested in Sale. If they can't get enough leverage with that, then they better lower their asking price.

Cespedes back to Mets - 4 years, $110 mil
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) I wonder what our backup plan is now .. Ha! funny.

He's got his courses he likes to play. Can't blame him.

Could Sox Trade Sale & Be Better Next Season?
If they trade Sale, there's no point in keeping Frazier and Cabrera, and that rotation isn't good enough. I'm sorry, but if Sale goes, we should also want top 5 picks in 2018 and 2019. Assets.

Could Sox Trade Sale & Be Better Next Season?
QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) See, I dont understand this logic. You dont want them to be better and have a good season next year? You do realize you dont HAVE TO SUCK for years to rebuild and just because you do doesnt ensure you will have a successful rebuild either, right? If they trade Sale and they happen to have a good year it may mean that they hit big on some talent that they brought over and the current group they had either played to their potential or made progress. Is that really that bad? Not every team has to do it the Cubs or Royals way to be successful. They've won one postseason game 2006-2016. They already do suck. What's another another 2-3 years, if there's a better path to winning with players that can actually play together for years at a time, and not just rely on luck and other teams having bad years? I know it's a risk to rebuild, but what they've done over the last 7-8 years has been an absolute failure. It's time they try to acquire assets upon assets, and make their own luck.

Could Sox Trade Sale & Be Better Next Season?
Honestly, I hope not. Trading Sale should be part of a true rebuild. They should be punting on 2017 and 2018, with the plan of being an interesting team by 2019, and a postseason team 2020-2023.

White Sox sign Roberto Pena to MiLB deal
JJ Cooper of BA: White Sox have been thin on catching for years. Good pickup for them. Solid catch and throw with 30 bat.

Winter Meeting Poll
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 28, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) You guessing? Yes. I like the Sale and Frazier package deal, and I can see Kenny and Hahn being very familiar with their guys coming back. ...and I think Wednesday because it's before the other deadlines, and before the Meetings. This would qualify as the 'first move' Hahn was talking about.
