  1. The Sox are picking 12th next year unless they win and the Pirates lose tomorrow. Sale on the mound. Pirates trying to eliminate the Cardinals chances.
  2. I hope four teams end up 88-74. Give me chaos. Tigers could have to win in four cities in four days starting tomorrow in order to play in a 5th city on Thursday.
  3. Tigers had bases loaded, no out. Cabrera K, JD Martinez double play.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) Would have preferred someone outside the organization, but just happy Robin is gone. Needed to happen for the fan base No doubt, fans are going to be happy about this, but I want the Sox to make moves based on being sound baseball decisions, not just making fans feel good.
  5. That would be great. Buddy Bell too, please.
  6. I want to be the first one to say that we're not calling him "Ricky". He can let that stay with the Cubs and their homer reporters.
  7. Hopefully this works out, but we'll see. I think they're just going to go for it again and hope 2005 happens again. And just remember- if the Sox go 77-85 next year, it doesn't mean Ventura deserved to stay. He wasn't a good manager, and will never even interview for a manager's job again, so turn the page on his five years and move forward.
  8. 12. White Sox 78-82 13. Pirates 78-82 14. Marlins 79-81 The Sox are the only team with two games left.
  9. Orioles lose Bal 88-73 Tor 87-73 Det 86-73 Sea 86-74
  10. Giants win or Cardinals loss on Sunday clinches them the 2nd wc. Vogelsong will be facing the Cardinals trying to help his old team.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) Does it have to be a major announcement? Can it just be a standard end of the season blah blah blah meeting with the press? That's what I was thinking. It's been mentioned that he's meeting with the media on Monday for a few days now.
  12. Mets will host the Giants or Cardinals next Wednesday. Might get a few 163s this year.
  13. 2. TB 66-94 3. Atl 66-93 4. Cin 67-93 5. Oak 67-93 6. Arz 67-93 7. SD 68-92 Diamondbacks beat the Padres last night, and dropped from 2nd to 6th. Everyone else lost.
  14. Tigers win. Mariners lead. Love to see a 4-way tie, or just the Blue Jays blowing it.
  15. 12th at best. 14th at worst. With the Marlins cancellation, and Pirates tie last night, they can pass the Sox if they play two games worse this weekend. Sox-Twins Marlins-Nationals Pirates-Cardinals Interesting cluster from the 2nd to 7th picks.
  16. Good season again for Quintana. 208 innings, 3.20 ERA Sox 70-81 in his 151 career starts.
  17. Blue Jays and Orioles 87-72. Jays won season series 10-9.
  18. Indians have to go back to Detroit to play Monday, if necessary. Not good news for the Orioles or Mariners.
  19. Tor 87-71 +1 Bal 86-72 -- Det 85-73 1 Sea 84-74 2 Tigers-Indians this afternoon, weather permitting.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) Besides Porcello, Verlander, and Kluber, which AL starters have an argument that they've had a better year than Sale? I don't think he finishes worse than 5th. I agree. 5th. Britton, some order of the three you mentioned, then Sale. That's what I think right now, but could change.
  21. Archer trying to avoid his 20th loss tonight. Talk about bad run support.
  22. If they changed the rules that it has to be a pitcher with at least 180 innings, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Then they could make a bigger deal for Reliever of the Year. That would be a good thing to do. But I think in a year where no starter has an ERA under 3, and Britton is perfect in save opportunities for a contending team, with a 0.55 ERA, and an 809 ERA+, I would vote for him. He deserves it under the current rules, and even a lot of advanced stat people agree. It seems like some are trying to make a case for Sale because he's "our guy". Even if it were just for starting pitchers, I doubt Sale would crack the top 3 right now, but I'd like to look at it more closely Sunday night when it's all over.
  23. As long as relievers are eligible, Britton has had a season that is special where the rest of the starters have been good, not great. I think Britton deserves it. Maybe Sale gets 2nd. Let's talk Sunday night.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Why not just hope he wins it? If he was close, I would. Britton, Kluber, Porcello, and Verlander are ahead.
