Somebody will tale a flier. It won't cost anything.
Somebody might give him that chance to pitch in the minors, but for immediate major league starts? I doubt it. And I doubt Danks wants to just hang on with the amount of money he's made.

Didn't Gonzales just get hit in the face with a line drive ? How is he doing ?
I've heard he's fine. Only threw a few pitches the other day before getting hit.
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:11 AM)
Expecting just about anyone to be better than Danks has been is a pretty good bet. That doesn't apply to Volstad.
If Danks goes on the DL, Gonzalez could come back. Otherwise, I'm not sure who else is on schedule.
Volstad has major league experience, and has been decent so far. Just saying, if he doesn't pitch tonight, he may get a spot start.

The DL might not work if he isn't really injured. Plus, why would he voluntarily fake an injury?
Because it's a better option than getting released or Dfa'd.
He shouldn't start tomorrow. It's throwing away a game.

Just had a crazy thought . What if Danks retired and left that money on the table like LaRoche did .
It's a nice thought, but he shouldn't. The Sox took the risk when they signed him.
I could see him hitting the DL today. Try to clear his head for a couple weeks.
105 isn't out of the question, but predicting anything higher than that is a stretch. Bottom line, they'll probably be the 1-seed in the NL, and we'll hope to watch them lose in October for quite a few years to come.
QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ May 2, 2016 -> 07:23 PM)
How is May any tougher than April?
It may prove out not to be, but the Sox need to show they can consistently beat the four other teams in their division.
Really, if the Sox are truly a very good team, then other teams have to worry about playing them...not the other way.
Fun note:
After McCutchen hit a homer off Jason Hammel, the only starting pitcher to not give up a homer this season is Jose Quintana.
(Min 25 innings)

Pretty sure currently all 15 AL teams have as many or more wins vs teams that were .500 or better last year than the Cubs. That's an amazingly bad schedule for the Cubs. And the NL is just also amazingly bad.
Interestingly enough, the NL is leading interleague play at 17-13.
That will change.
I can't see him coming back ever. He just doesn't seem like he's the type to stop playing, and then go, "I really miss pitching and getting cortisone shots and being away from family".
May 3 - June 19...for Caulfield
3 vs Bos 2-1

3 at Cle 1-2
23-21 the next 44 would be fine.
The thing with Lincecum is he'll have to make minor league starts for somebody. If he signed with the Sox, he'd just be an extra option. That said, I think he'll sign elsewhere- probably Baltimore.
I'm rooting for Danks just to be the same guy as the last couple years. That would be acceptable 5th starter stuff.
Hope Wednesday he'll pitch well enough to face the Rangers. If not, he may be done. Like, done done.
