Konerko/Crain to DL - Purcey/Morel called up
Could the Sox get more if they tell teams Peavy and Crain are a package deal? If you want one, you have to take both...and then get a better prospect instead of weak prospects in separate deals. (that is if they both are healthy pitchers around July 25th)

Konerko/Crain to DL - Purcey/Morel called up
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) Anyone think this is the White Sox shutting him down in order to keep him from being injured until they can trade him? Yeah, I think it's probably a slight discomfort and they don't want to take any chances. In the process, he gets to rest his arm. So he comes back after the break, makes 2-3 appearances, shows he's ok, and gets traded.

Konerko/Crain to DL - Purcey/Morel called up
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Against DET from 2010-2012, he's had a 4.15 ERA and two blown saves in two opportunities. You really took the time to look that up?

Konerko/Crain to DL - Purcey/Morel called up
Man, we're really going to miss Crain for that Tigers series. Hawk told me the Sox can back in this thing.

Konerko/Crain to DL - Purcey/Morel called up
I'm still optimistic Peavy and Crain can come off the DL after the break, and still be traded for some value. Maybe not top talent, but something useful.

Konerko/Crain to DL - Purcey/Morel called up
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) Maybe Crain can come back July 15, have a couple solid outings and recoup some trade value before the deadline. Or July 19 when there are games again.

**7/3 Game Thread. Sox vs O'birds**
Apparently David Purcey is listed on the lineup card today as a reliever. Crain going on the DL?

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) No Paulie in the lineup. If I had a wish, he goes on the DL now, comes back from the DL after the break, and tells the team his last game will be July 29. They announce it a couple days before to get some ticket sales and standing ovations, and Paulie rides off into the sunset. I respect the guy, but he's old and breaking down now. And there's no point in him staying on this crap team.

Maybe he was thinking George Foster. That was special.

All things considered, I think Danks' comeback has been a success so far.

WELCOME BACK, JIM THOME!
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 04:36 PM) WHY? Because he had a lot of managerial experience in the Phillies organization. He had a good reputation as a future big league manager. As an interim, they wouldn't be under any obligation to go past this season, so they can give him a trial run and see if they want him as they reload over the next couple years.

WELCOME BACK, JIM THOME!
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 04:31 PM) God no! As much as I respect Thome.. he needs coaching experience first. The White Sox need to hire someone from the outside to manage this team as well. Someone with experience. No more Baines, Ventura, Guillen, Raines, Cora, Walker etc.. The Bulls did it right by hiring Thibs (an outsider with plenty of coaching experience). At least with Guillen, he collected coaching experience in Florida before the Sox hired him. Regardless, the next manager hire needs to be an outsider. Mark Parent should be the interim manager after the all-star break. Won't happen, but he should.

WELCOME BACK, JIM THOME!
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) I'd love for Jim to be our manager. Sure, if he starts in the minors, proves he knows how to manage players and game situations, absolutely.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) Our mood (the fans) has been pretty ugly for awhile now. I really wonder what it's like in the White Sox dugout/locker room. Is everyone just waiting to be traded? Are there guys that can't wait to get out of here? Just speaking for myself, I'm at the Acceptance Phase. I'm actually looking at this season as a positive for the future of the franchise. They're forced to deal with some things they've ignored over the last several years. You can't just compete, win 81-85 games and call it a good try anymore. As far as the players, I think they care, but don't have the personality to go nuts. I think they take on Ventura and Konerko's personalities. Show up, do your work, play the game, and go home. I doubt any of them are losing sleep because nobody is in AA or AAA nipping at their heels, and the pay is good.

White Sox sign Micker Zapata for $1.6 million
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) I dont care if we have the worst system out there. A 16 year old doesn't belong in the top 25. I kind of agree. For prospect list purposes, these young 16-17 year olds shouldn't qualify until they're in full-season leagues. There should be a Top 10 of AAA, AA, A+, A players, and then footnotes about short season players.
