It's as simple as this...
Axelrod has been in the rotation all season, and he hasn't pitched himself out of the role--and is probably a better pitcher as a starter.
Danks is off the DL, and makes 14.25 mil. He's got to start.
Santiago will probably be in the rotation in 2014 or later this season, but they need a second lefty in the pen right now. And he can still be very valuable coming out of the pen.
So until Axelrod starts having back-to-back bad starts, there's no reason to beef right now.
Happy for the wins, but we're using Crain, Thornton and Reed too much out of necessity.
Thank god for Peavy last night.
Now---no more than 2 losses per week the next four weeks.
Sox traded Drew Garcia to the Rockies. He seemed to be a Sox organizational guy--got a lot of spring training time over the last couple years. He gawn.

They're still a long ways from matching up with DET and CLE offensively.
The starting pitching has to be complemented by SOMEONE besides Reed and Crain in the bullpen.
However, one certainty, the defense simply HAS to improve with Beckham back, there's that at least.
And the catching position. DET can afford to have Avila struggling there with Cabrera slated for 100 RBI's before the All-Star game.
Forget about Detroit. Sox will never catch them. We're going for 88-89 wins and hopefully a wildcard spot.
49-38 by July 8.

my god this offense is pathetic
At this point, just take the wins and hope they come around.
.500 tomorrow.
26-14 until July 9.
I think Peavy probably told Robin he was fine after the 8th, and then a long half inning with two pitching changes happened, and Robin didn't have the heart to change his mind.
Or I could be wrong.
Just win it.
