GT: 9/23: Sox vs. Angels
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) 10 games left. IMHO 8-2 wins you division, nothing less. I agree. I'm hoping for a nice surprise tonight in Detroit, and change that to 7-3.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) Any chance Rays are gonna out of it by the time they play us? They'll be on life support. They have 9 left. Pretty much have to go 8-1.

Or Steve could have said, "The Sox are up 1 with 11 left."

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) Like me not talking about Ozzie anymore, I wish the board would not talk about these percentages the rest of this season and in the future. They are stupid. When you are 3 games up like we were at one point, all that means is a team like the Angels sweeps us and Detroit wins 3 and it's gone and the percentages meant squad. It's like those newspaper articles I used to read when a team falls eight games back in April. The writer would look up the record the team would need to win the division and it would be some insane winning percentage that never took in account the other teams' records. ugh. MATH IS SCARY. STOP TALKING ABOUT IT.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) How can the White Sox still be at 75+% and the Tigers at ONLY 26.4% to make the playoffs with ONLY a 1/2 game lead right now? WEIRD. Baseball Prospectus http://www.baseballprospectus.com/odds/ coolstandings http://www.coolstandings.com/baseball_stan...sn=2012&i=1 Who is still saying the Sox are over 75%?

Angels 2.5 out. They could win the World Series still.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) 100% the Tigers started playing to their potential will be the story. Absolutely. The White Sox are an afterthought. It'll be Tigers finally came around, Cabrera MVP, Verlander, Leyland...and how can we blame the media for taking that stance? I wouldn't.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) I don't get the point of them. If you have two teams (like the Tigers and Sox tomorrow) with the same record and same amount of games to play, they're going to be at around 50% to make the playoffs. Do you really need a website to tell you that? Sox were as high as 86% already. I thought you didn't care about percentages? That may have been baseball prospectus. I was looking at coolstandings. It's just math. Nothing to get upset about.

When the Sox beat the Tigers on Monday, the Sox were 84.4 to win the division. Tuesday-- 83.0 Wednesday-- 72.8 Thursday-- 74.8 Friday-- 68.5 Today after the Tigers won-- 62.5 I don't even want to look if the Sox lose tonight. I'm guessing slightly over 50%.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) I think it could go both ways....How in the HELL do you know they still dont end up with Sale? All I said was it would have been awfully nice to have both in the same rotation. That doesnt mean I think he should STILL be on the team or that we even end up with Sale still because NOBODY knows. It was just a simple statement. No need to try & make somebody feel stupid over something they said bud. Sorry, that's my bad.

2012 AL Pennant Chase
Brutal loss for the A's, who now have lost 5 of 6. One more with the Yankees and 7 with the Rangers....I really don't want the Sox contributing to an A's collapse by losing to the Angels and Rays. Angels are 3 back with 11 left.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) If Gio is still in the organization, Sox aren't in the same position and might not have drafted Sale. That's so true. I try to point that out when people say s*** like that.
