  1. Final 54 games: Sox 22-25, 7 left Det 26-22, 6 left
  2. Avila always seems to come through.
  3. Well that was fun while it lasted.
  4. Manny Acta fired. Alomar, Jr. interim.
  5. This could end up being under 2 hours. I'm not playing the "KC sucks/Help us" card, but do teams hate the Sox because of AJ and Hawk, and would love nothing more than to see us lose?
  6. I'm just speaking for myself here, but that Rally Crede thing is the dumbest f***ing thing I've seen here.
  7. ^ I feel ok about already updating it. Who changed it from 91 to 90? Tigers go 4-2 the last two series. 88 wins. Playoffs.
  8. Hey maybe Konerko can get his average up to .300 before Monday, and we get eliminated, so he can sit the final series again.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) We're 1 GB this team will either win the next 7 or collapse completely IMHO. I could see the Sox lose 3 of 4, and the Tigers offense their way to four more wins in a row, and the Sox go to Cleveland already eliminated.
  10. You know, I think if we really put our minds to it, we can get eliminated by Sunday afternoon.
  11. Lead off man out in Detroit. /seasonsover
  12. Go Sox. (he says meekly)

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:55 AM) What do we know about Rick Hahn that makes us so sure he'd do this thing or that thing? Everyone keeps hoping that Hahn will "finally bring in a good player" and s*** like this. What do you think KW does? He f***ing does s***. He makes splashes. A true change in GM would be someone that is decidedly less aggressive and would instead be more effective at developing homegrown talent. That may or may not be an improvement, but I can't imagine a fan getting excited about their team getting real conservative I just want to see good baseball moves. They don't make the playoffs or draw fans anyway, so make good baseball decisions that don't bury you for 3-4 years at a time, and start developing your own talent. They can sign veteran pitchers to 1-2 year deals that have just as much chance to catch lightning in a bottle, and hopefully at the same time they have guys coming up in the next couple years that will be better and cheaper, so you can go out and make a big free agent splash or trade when the time is right.
  14. Is Liriano a free agent or just a non-tender candidate?
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale Scherzer scratched from Friday start and Smyly now replaces him for #Tigers Because they know they have this and they'd rather have him for the playoffs.

QUOTE (SI1020 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) I agree, and think .500 may be optimistic. Of course I reserve the right to change my mind if Hahn or KW, whoever is in charge is able to pull some rabbits out of a hat in the off season. The Sox plan should be to take on short term deals for players that could catch lightning in a bottle, while drafting and developing their own players. No more signings or acquisitions of guys like Peavy, Dunn, and Rios. The Sox desperately need to have a couple 20-something stars over the next few years. Sale is there, but offensively, it would be nice if Trayce Thompson, Carlos Sanchez, and Jered Mitchell panned out. And then Hawkins in 2-3 years. I hope Hahn has some different views than Kenny, and he'll actually be allowed to do them. My fear is Kenny doesn't have to do the grunt work anymore, but Hahn has to execute Kenny's plan and get approval on everything.
  17. Wild Card: Bal 89-67 +0.5 Oak 88-67 -- LAA 86-69 2.0 TB 85-70 3.0 I don't want the Sox to contribute to the Rays getting back in this, but it's not impossible all 4 team finish 90-72 or 91-71. Bal 1-5 or 2-4 Oak 2-5 or 3-4 LAA 4-3 or 5-2 TB 5-2 or 6-1 Could happen.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 11:33 PM) I'd bring back AJ. If you start having to chase to find a new catcher, 3b and a righty starter, it's not going to be good. They can find somebody. I don't think they'll be good next year anyway. I'm ready to move on from the AJ/Konerko Era. AJ this year, Konerko next year.

I'd keep Chris Sale, let every FA go, and listen on everyone else.
