  1. They should hire Mike North. (I'm kidding)
  2. So no extra games tomorrow it looks like.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 07:53 PM) Is Danks supposed to be available on opening day? Are any of you guys upset that Gio once wore a Sox uniform? He's one of the best pitchers in baseball, no? The Phillies have to face him 6 times a year. They should have a bigger beef than us. Plus if we kept Gio, chances are we wouldn't have Sale now. Baseball trades happen. On Danks---he's supposed to start throwing in a month and be ready for spring training.
  4. I'd keep Floyd for next year. He's infuriating sometimes, but you know what you're getting at the end of the year. Sale FA Righty Danks Floyd Santiago Quintana goes in a package trade for a bat.
  5. Looks like Hellickson has it going, and the Orioles will be the 5-seed, and Yankees will beat the Red Sox.... If it holds, Friday- 4PM-- Cardinals at Braves 7PM-- Orioles at Rangers A's at Tigers on Saturday Reds at Giants on Saturday Yankees at Wild Card winner on Sunday Nationals at Wild Card winner on Sunday
  6. Granderson 3-run homer. 3-1 Yankees, 2nd. Orioles down 1-0, 3rd
  7. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 06:14 PM) Does game 163 count as part of your record ? No, but that's another story. Now that teams can lose divisions in 163, but still revert back to their 162-game record for a wild card tie breaker, I think they should just consider anything past Game 162 as postseason baseball. The stats should based on 162 for every team. So the Orioles and Yankees could be at 94-68 after tonight, but the winner of tomorrow's tie-breaker would be notated as "winner of tie-breaker game". And the loser would play Texas.
  8. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Why is Paulie still playing in meaningless games if he's injured? How dumb is Ventura? Look at Post #13.
  9. Here's another flaw in the system... If the Yankees lose, the A's and Yankees will both be 94-68. They were 5-5 against each other, so then it goes to divisional record. Here's the problem...the A's only play 57 division games, while the Yankees play 72 games. So if the Yankees lose (and the Orioles lose), the division records are: A's: 33-24 (.579) Yankees: 40-32 (.556) I'm rooting for the Yankees and Orioles tonight, and hope the O's beat the Rangers on Friday.
  10. If the Yankees win, the Orioles will be playing to win to host the Rangers on Friday. If the Yankees win and the Orioles lose, the Rangers will host the Orioles.
  11. Scherzer is starting tonight.
  12. Konerko has to get a hit in his first AB for .300, otherwise he has to go 2-4.
  13. So are we supposed to care how these five AL teams are seeded? Does winning a division mean as much as it it did before this year? Pre- 1994? Just the way this all shaking out, I firmly believe baseball no longer needs divisions. Teams just want to get in the playoffs. I don't think there's any pride in saying you won a division anymore. I think the races would be better if they just played a balanced schedule, top 3 get in the playoffs, and the 4 and 5 teams play to get in. They could have a better race in the NL between the Braves and Giants for the 3-spot, with the loser having to play the Cardinals. And in the AL, there could have been a real scramble for at least 4 teams to get in the top 3, with the loser playing the Rays or Angels, who will both end up with more wins than the Tigers. I kinda hope the Tigers win it all just to make people mad the 7th best team in the AL won the World Series.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 12:27 AM) Sox lost, and Dodgers won, so we secure the 18th spot at the very least. Now the last thing is for Milwaukee to win tomorrow, and Chris Sale and the Sox to lose tomorrow. We'd lock in to 17th spot if that happens. Dodgers lost. Floyd starting. If the Brewers win and the Sox lose today, the Sox draft at 16. If not, 17 is locked in. Hey look, a middle of the pack team.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) I want a Giants win/Dodgers eliminated tonight. I want the Dodgers out too, but I want the Braves to beat the Cardinals on Friday.
  16. I deleted that last thing. I was looking at who holds tie-breakers. Orioles could have 94 wins.
  17. If the A's win, it's Ryan Dempster vs AJ Griffin tomorrow at 2:35 for the division.
  18. Gomes homer 3-1 A's
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) Cabrera wins, last time I checked Angels did not make the playoffs. Angels have more wins than the Tigers, and the Angels played meaningful games deep into the season. I wouldn't ding Trout for playing in the AL West over Cabrera playing in the s***ty Central.
  20. Yankees take a 1-game lead into the final day over the Orioles. A's down 1-0, 5th to Rangers. They have ducks on the pond, nobody out. An A's win means they play for the division tomorrow.
  21. Padilla in for Red Sox. Sorry, Orioles.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) Can Thornton reach double digits? Yes
  23. If the A's beat the Rangers tonight, they'll be playing for the AL West tomorrow at 2:30.
