  1. Rienzo starting tonight. Keith Law tweeting he's at 93-95, with a sharp cutter. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/y2010/index...mp;mode=gameday
  2. Stone is on the Score. Said he's coming back next year, 100%.
  3. I don't find the 2-3 thing unfair at all. It's just an excuse for losing. The best-of-5 is scary. It's either get winning or get losing and you're gone. The Reds won 2 on the road. The Nationals won on the road. The Yankees won on the road. The A's had a late lead in Game 2. They could have taken a split home, and been in a position to win 2 of 3 at home to advance. They lost, so they'll probably be eliminated.
  4. QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) Texas. Gone. Wow. Not the season end they expected. Win one game in Oakland, they're in their Detroit hotel right now.
  5. I don't think they'll ever make this a best-of-3. Teams are already waiting 3 days to play. Add another 2 or 3 days to that and the hitters start complaining about that too.
  6. Protest? The Nationals need to fly to Atlanta or St. Louis tonight. They better rule on that quick.
  7. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) Tell me this is serious. Nobody knows how to spell anymore. It's just easier to ignore it.
  8. He'll be playing in the AFL next week.
  9. Reds 5 starting pitchers combined for 161 starts. They used a minor leaguer for a double header in August. I've never seen that before, and it has to be a record. BTW, the Sox used 12 different starting pitchers. edit: Giants 5 starters combined for 160 starts. Also incredible.
  10. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/?podcast_url=h...mp;dcid=CBS.CHI 25:00 mark
  11. Hawk should be given a nice severance package, and they should get a new PBP guy in there....and not a former player. Isn't it possible that Hawk is part of the problem with attendance? He turns so many people off that they have a hard time attracting new fans. And he also is so down when the team loses, it makes the fans they have so negative, they don't want to watch them in person. I know the attendance issue is very complex, and it's not the main reason why the Sox don't draw. But I don't think Hawk helps the situation...I think he hurts the team in a lot of ways.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 07:35 AM) Frank has gotten better with his time on PGL, but he was probably the worst fill in of all of the fill ins I have heard. Even someone like Mike Huff did laps around him. Putting Frank in a booth for 162 games would be awful. Frank doesn't have a good voice for broadcasting, and from what I've seen on CSN, he's just filling a chair and saying words. He brings nothing interesting to the pre and post-games, but they can probably get away with it in that forum. Putting Frank in the booth for 150 games would be a train wreck.
  13. Final Standings-- Det 88-74 Sox 85-77 KC 72-90 Cle 68-94 Min 66-96 Divisions suck.
  14. With the mess in Arizona with Grace and Sutton, the D-backs would be a good bet.
  15. They should hire Mike North. (I'm kidding)
  16. So no extra games tomorrow it looks like.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 07:53 PM) Is Danks supposed to be available on opening day? Are any of you guys upset that Gio once wore a Sox uniform? He's one of the best pitchers in baseball, no? The Phillies have to face him 6 times a year. They should have a bigger beef than us. Plus if we kept Gio, chances are we wouldn't have Sale now. Baseball trades happen. On Danks---he's supposed to start throwing in a month and be ready for spring training.
  18. I'd keep Floyd for next year. He's infuriating sometimes, but you know what you're getting at the end of the year. Sale FA Righty Danks Floyd Santiago Quintana goes in a package trade for a bat.
  19. Looks like Hellickson has it going, and the Orioles will be the 5-seed, and Yankees will beat the Red Sox.... If it holds, Friday- 4PM-- Cardinals at Braves 7PM-- Orioles at Rangers A's at Tigers on Saturday Reds at Giants on Saturday Yankees at Wild Card winner on Sunday Nationals at Wild Card winner on Sunday
  20. Granderson 3-run homer. 3-1 Yankees, 2nd. Orioles down 1-0, 3rd
  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 06:14 PM) Does game 163 count as part of your record ? No, but that's another story. Now that teams can lose divisions in 163, but still revert back to their 162-game record for a wild card tie breaker, I think they should just consider anything past Game 162 as postseason baseball. The stats should based on 162 for every team. So the Orioles and Yankees could be at 94-68 after tonight, but the winner of tomorrow's tie-breaker would be notated as "winner of tie-breaker game". And the loser would play Texas.
  22. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 3, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Why is Paulie still playing in meaningless games if he's injured? How dumb is Ventura? Look at Post #13.
  23. Here's another flaw in the system... If the Yankees lose, the A's and Yankees will both be 94-68. They were 5-5 against each other, so then it goes to divisional record. Here's the problem...the A's only play 57 division games, while the Yankees play 72 games. So if the Yankees lose (and the Orioles lose), the division records are: A's: 33-24 (.579) Yankees: 40-32 (.556) I'm rooting for the Yankees and Orioles tonight, and hope the O's beat the Rangers on Friday.
  24. If the Yankees win, the Orioles will be playing to win to host the Rangers on Friday. If the Yankees win and the Orioles lose, the Rangers will host the Orioles.
