  1. John Farrell, new Red Sox manager.
  2. 3-way trade between Marlins, A's, and D-Backs. Heath Bell and Cliff Pennington to Arizona, Chris Young to Oakland. Miami gets Yordy Cabrera I think it's a rule that every former White Sox prospect that goes to Arizona must then end up in Oakland. Marlins...would it surprise anyone if Buehrle was on a different team next year?
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) You dont know that, thats just a typical "Sox have nothing to trade" Sox fan remark. Then they go make trades with nothing Padres have a big prospect pushing Headley, they are at put up $ or move on time with him. I agree the Sox are in a better position to make trades this offseason compared to last offseason. The outfield prospects- Mitchell, Thompson, and Walker could be attractive to some teams. The Sox also have players on the major league roster that could be moved--Viciedo, Quintana, Santiago, Reed. Stuff we wouldn't expect could happen this offseason.
  4. Rienzo starting tonight. Sanchez at 2B. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/y2010/index...mp;mode=gameday
  5. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) I guess with the ticket prices slashing, we will probably see a lot of the payroll cut as well.. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox traded Dunn & Rios, while AJ & Peavy days in a Sox uniform are over. Man, that would be so awesome. Trade Alexei while they're at it. I'm not kidding.
  6. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) IIRC it was Heyman that broke this. Kenny seems to like his national guys more than some of the local ones so it looks pretty likely coming from such a solid source. Either way, we shouldn't expect an announcement until after the WS when the offseason officially begins. Bob Nightengale had it first. Yes, it will be made official after the World Series.

  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 17, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) Looking like a rematch of 2006 is coming...with hopefully the same result I don't care if the Tigers win, but if it ends up being Tigers/Cardinals again, I hope it's an entertaining series. The 2006 Series was brutal.
  9. No thanks on Arod. I'll turn in my fan card if they trade for his sorry ass.
  10. I want the Tigers to win. The other three have won the World Series the last three years, and I'm an AL guy. Now don't get me wrong, I won't be going out buying a Tigers hat and cheering every run. But it's been 28 years for them. Go ahead and win.
  11. Rienzo starting tonight. Keith Law tweeting he's at 93-95, with a sharp cutter. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/y2010/index...mp;mode=gameday
  12. Stone is on the Score. Said he's coming back next year, 100%.
  13. I don't find the 2-3 thing unfair at all. It's just an excuse for losing. The best-of-5 is scary. It's either get winning or get losing and you're gone. The Reds won 2 on the road. The Nationals won on the road. The Yankees won on the road. The A's had a late lead in Game 2. They could have taken a split home, and been in a position to win 2 of 3 at home to advance. They lost, so they'll probably be eliminated.
  14. QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 11:00 PM) Texas. Gone. Wow. Not the season end they expected. Win one game in Oakland, they're in their Detroit hotel right now.
  15. I don't think they'll ever make this a best-of-3. Teams are already waiting 3 days to play. Add another 2 or 3 days to that and the hitters start complaining about that too.
  16. Protest? The Nationals need to fly to Atlanta or St. Louis tonight. They better rule on that quick.
  17. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) Tell me this is serious. Nobody knows how to spell anymore. It's just easier to ignore it.
  18. He'll be playing in the AFL next week.
  19. Reds 5 starting pitchers combined for 161 starts. They used a minor leaguer for a double header in August. I've never seen that before, and it has to be a record. BTW, the Sox used 12 different starting pitchers. edit: Giants 5 starters combined for 160 starts. Also incredible.

  21. Hawk should be given a nice severance package, and they should get a new PBP guy in there....and not a former player. Isn't it possible that Hawk is part of the problem with attendance? He turns so many people off that they have a hard time attracting new fans. And he also is so down when the team loses, it makes the fans they have so negative, they don't want to watch them in person. I know the attendance issue is very complex, and it's not the main reason why the Sox don't draw. But I don't think Hawk helps the situation...I think he hurts the team in a lot of ways.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 07:35 AM) Frank has gotten better with his time on PGL, but he was probably the worst fill in of all of the fill ins I have heard. Even someone like Mike Huff did laps around him. Putting Frank in a booth for 162 games would be awful. Frank doesn't have a good voice for broadcasting, and from what I've seen on CSN, he's just filling a chair and saying words. He brings nothing interesting to the pre and post-games, but they can probably get away with it in that forum. Putting Frank in the booth for 150 games would be a train wreck.
  23. Final Standings-- Det 88-74 Sox 85-77 KC 72-90 Cle 68-94 Min 66-96 Divisions suck.
