White Sox Re-Sign Jake Peavy
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 06:20 PM) It makes way too much sense, knowing Kenny's history with Alex. And what history is that? Wanting an all-time great when he was healthy in his late 20's? I can't see Hahn, yes Hahn, wanting to add a late 30's player that's breaking down. Plus, we don't know what the Sox would be responsible for if Arod reaches those milestone bonuses. It just doesn't make sense for the Sox to go for that guy.

White Sox Re-Sign Jake Peavy
Surprising news on Peavy. For only two guaranteed years, I like it even if the yearly amount is high. The thought of a rotation of a healthy Sale, Peavy, Danks, Floyd, and Quintana sounds great, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Floyd and/or Quintana got traded in the offseason. The Sox have other needs--catcher, 3B. We'll see.

ALL CELEBRATEEEEEEEE
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) How are they not a rival? They are the one team standing between the Sox and the playoffs. They were last year too and probably will be next year. Also, you mean envy, not jealousy. Common misuse: http://www.diffen.com/difference/Envy_vs_Jealousy Ok, envious. I'm not big on "rivals" in baseball. The Sox play 162 games. I hope they win 90+ and get in the playoffs. The Tigers are just a team MLB grouped them with to create these artificial "rivalries" that I'm not buying into. It brings out the worst in fans, and I'm not going to be one of them. I want the Tigers to lose, especially when the Sox play them. But I don't hate the Tigers, and I certainly don't care what they do in the postseason, win or lose, if the Sox aren't there.

Your 2013 Plan for the White Sox
I wouldn't sign Pierzynski or Peavy to a deal more than two years, so I think they're gone. I would decline Youk's option, so he's probably gone. There's just too many variables to say exactly what I would do with trades and free agents, but my overall philosophy would be: Don't mortgage the future with high risk contracts like Rios, Dunn, and Peavy were. Keep outside pickups to 1-2 year deals while you try to develop your own players. Try to sell high on Rios and Dunn if anyone wants them in the right deal. See what the interest is with Thornton and Crain. Try to get younger. Try to get more athletic players that can play in September and October. Try to have five starting pitchers that are prepared to start 32 games and throw 200 innings.

I don't consider the Tigers a "rival". This isn't college football. But hey, if you want to hate teams out of jealousy, that's your right.

2012 WORLD SERIES OF BASEBALL!!!
QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 28, 2012 -> 04:44 AM) So do the Giants wrap it up tonight? Or does Scherzer salvage a game for the Tigers? The Tigers bats are asleep. Cain should close it out tonight. But...if the Tigers can get it to Verlander for Game 5 at home, you never know. It's pretty incredible that a 3-0 lead in the World Series has never got to a 6th game.

3-way trade between Marlins, A's, and D-Backs. Heath Bell and Cliff Pennington to Arizona, Chris Young to Oakland. Miami gets Yordy Cabrera I think it's a rule that every former White Sox prospect that goes to Arizona must then end up in Oakland. Marlins...would it surprise anyone if Buehrle was on a different team next year?

In typical KW fashion, will his big offseason move be A-Rod?
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) You dont know that, thats just a typical "Sox have nothing to trade" Sox fan remark. Then they go make trades with nothing Padres have a big prospect pushing Headley, they are at put up $ or move on time with him. I agree the Sox are in a better position to make trades this offseason compared to last offseason. The outfield prospects- Mitchell, Thompson, and Walker could be attractive to some teams. The Sox also have players on the major league roster that could be moved--Viciedo, Quintana, Santiago, Reed. Stuff we wouldn't expect could happen this offseason.

how would YOU fix the sox attendance woes?
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 12:38 PM) I guess with the ticket prices slashing, we will probably see a lot of the payroll cut as well.. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox traded Dunn & Rios, while AJ & Peavy days in a Sox uniform are over. Man, that would be so awesome. Trade Alexei while they're at it. I'm not kidding.

how would YOU fix the sox attendance woes?
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) IIRC it was Heyman that broke this. Kenny seems to like his national guys more than some of the local ones so it looks pretty likely coming from such a solid source. Either way, we shouldn't expect an announcement until after the WS when the offseason officially begins. Bob Nightengale had it first. Yes, it will be made official after the World Series.

2012 ALCS: Tigers vs Yankees
QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 17, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) Looking like a rematch of 2006 is coming...with hopefully the same result I don't care if the Tigers win, but if it ends up being Tigers/Cardinals again, I hope it's an entertaining series. The 2006 Series was brutal.

No thanks on Arod. I'll turn in my fan card if they trade for his sorry ass.

Who are you rooting for in 2012 MLB Playoffs?
I want the Tigers to win. The other three have won the World Series the last three years, and I'm an AL guy. Now don't get me wrong, I won't be going out buying a Tigers hat and cheering every run. But it's been 28 years for them. Go ahead and win.
