  1. It's correct to pick the Tigers to win the division. They're the defending division winner. They have a more than solid rotation with the best starting pitcher in baseball. They have two position players playing in their prime, probably on the way to the Hall of Fame. They have good veteran players. They have a good manager. They have kicked the Sox ass the last couple years. Their downside is defense, which cost them games last year. And you never know with bullpens, and you never know with injuries. But let's not pretend the Tigers aren't a very good team, and they are rightfully the favorite to win the division. One thing to remember--the Sox don't play the Tigers until Game 89, so we really don't have to think about them until July 9. Let's just see if the Sox can get to 50 wins before then, and go from there.
  2. And of course that is his birthday ---May 17. For the few people that don't know that.

  6. No, not under any circumstance would I want him on the Sox. None.
  7. Sox sign Andrew Brackman http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/brackan01.shtml
  8. The more we get away from last season, the more I think the Sox over-achieved until September caught up to them, and the Tigers under-achieved until their talent took over after the break. The better team won because that's what happens after 162 games.
  9. I'd go 27 the first three weeks of the season, when starting pitchers aren't fully stretched to go 7-9 innings, and teams can evaluate a little longer. And for September 1, you submit a 25-man roster each day, with no more than 7 bullpen arms available that day. Other than that, 25 is good enough and they already allow a 26th man for doubleheaders.
  10. If A-rod gets popped again, I think he's played his last game.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) To me the testing is almost as important as the penalties. I am thrilled with the new testing system. I am too, but it seems like a 50-game suspension isn't enough of a deterrent to not try to get away with it.
  12. I wish they would go to stiffer penalties-- 1st offense-- 1 year suspension and voided contract 2nd offense-- Lifetime ban
  13. QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) My boredom with the current uniforms started a few years back when they would seemingly wear the black alternate jersey every other day. In the last few seasons its dropped down a lot but, I'd still be in favor of a change. It's not like they're the Yankees or something where it's been the same jersey forever. It's been 20+ years for these ones but its not like they didn't change uniforms 7000 times before they landed on the current ones. Changing uniforms is part of the history of the franchise. I hope the Sox logo stays, but if they went to the 50's style with the red trim instead of the silver trim, that would look sharp. Just without the giant numbers on the back.

    QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 05:28 PM) Hopefully some additions to the bench, which is a serious weakness right now. I don't see them doing anything with the bench. Dewayne Wise- they like him as a 4th outfielder/ once or twice a week starter at leadoff. Angel Sanchez- can play all three infield spots. Rule 5 draftee, so he either makes the team or probably goes back to Anaheim. Hector Gimenez- backup catcher. Can hit a little and pretty good defense. Jordan Danks or Blake Tekotte-- Lefty bat/good defense/can run It's not the sexiest bench, but in the AL it's not as important. Plus it's something that can be addressed in July once there's more clarity if they're going to contend.
  20. Very cool that he did that. He's an easy guy to root for.
  21. Looking forward to seeing Snodgress and Johnson in spring training. We need these guys to be something, since it appears Molina and Castro aren't all what the Sox wanted them to be.
  22. DeAza too. 2.075 mil.
  23. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) No Rienzo invite to camp? Yes, he's on the 40-man already.
