  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) Oh God... Bill Melton makes my brain hurt. I wrote the thing about Snodgress before I saw this...funny. https://twitter.com/MDGonzales/status/30138...6983169/photo/1
  2. Paul Konerko, Dewayne Wise, Keenyn Walker and Gordon Beckham are early arrivals among position players.
  3. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) I am very excite. Really looking forward to WBC- it will take away from the purgatory that is Spring Training games. Also eager to see which everyday players Bill Melton will choose this year to absolutely murder the pronunciation of their name. Chris Sale, South Paw, Adam Dunn, a seemingly bottomless well from which he can draw on to craft his work. I'm going to try to stay away from those webcasts...spring training is way too long. There are enough televised games the last couple weeks before opening day. But I'm sure Melton will call Snodgress--Snodgrass. Troncoso and Tekotte will also give him problems.
  4. Indians to sign Michael Bourn. Good.

  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) But if Morel proves worthy of a roster spot, you can carry him as the back up infielder and have Keppinger move around when he's in the game. IMO, Morel is battling Angel Sanchez for a roster spot. Clearly, if he beats him out, no one should shed any tears Angel Sanchez didn't make the team. Sanchez being able to play SS probably gives him an advantage, so Morel is probably going to have to be a lot better than him during the spring. Yes, Angel Sanchez is the only real backup SS, so he would have to be awful not make the team. Best case scenario, they keep Morel for AAA, and if he's killing it, he's ready to go if Keppinger isn't good enough for regular play or if an injury happens.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) Jordan Bastian ‏@MLBastian Vinnie Pestano, on Nick Swisher: "I haven't met him yet, but I HAVE heard him." Pestano-- mentioned on HIMYM Swisher-- has been on HIMYM They have something to talk about.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 11, 2013 -> 11:31 AM) Those don't really get set until the 25 man roster gets set. Still, they usually have that up by now. People need to know if Trayce Thompson is wearing 74. I'd laugh if Keppinger got 12. I'd be shocked if anyone wore 12 this year, but that would piss some people off....and that would make me happy.
  9. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/3010038...5440256/photo/1 Awe yeah. Hey White Sox, how about some new uni numbers on the team website?
  10. Indians sign Jason Giambi and Daisuke Matsuzaka. Good times.
  11. I noticed MLB Network will be airing a History of the White Sox on 2/19 at noon (I think). DVR alert.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 11:01 PM) Mike Caruso is 40? Dear God That's a misprint on that card. Caruso was born in 1977.
  13. Obviously you can't bank on it...but it would be great if Morel got a clean bill of health and was able to play 110-120 games healthy. The way he played was more due to a bad back than just being bad at baseball.
  14. It's correct to pick the Tigers to win the division. They're the defending division winner. They have a more than solid rotation with the best starting pitcher in baseball. They have two position players playing in their prime, probably on the way to the Hall of Fame. They have good veteran players. They have a good manager. They have kicked the Sox ass the last couple years. Their downside is defense, which cost them games last year. And you never know with bullpens, and you never know with injuries. But let's not pretend the Tigers aren't a very good team, and they are rightfully the favorite to win the division. One thing to remember--the Sox don't play the Tigers until Game 89, so we really don't have to think about them until July 9. Let's just see if the Sox can get to 50 wins before then, and go from there.
  15. And of course that is his birthday ---May 17. For the few people that don't know that.
  16. Hawk on this morning talking about playing nice with Stone. Around 1:11:00. http://espn.go.com/espnradio/chicago/play?id=8908090
  17. God dammit. Fake twitter account. Idiots.
  18. wha, wha, what?! https://twitter.com/DKnobIer/status/297086343895453696
  19. No, not under any circumstance would I want him on the Sox. None.
  20. Sox sign Andrew Brackman http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/brackan01.shtml
  21. The more we get away from last season, the more I think the Sox over-achieved until September caught up to them, and the Tigers under-achieved until their talent took over after the break. The better team won because that's what happens after 162 games.
  22. I'd go 27 the first three weeks of the season, when starting pitchers aren't fully stretched to go 7-9 innings, and teams can evaluate a little longer. And for September 1, you submit a 25-man roster each day, with no more than 7 bullpen arms available that day. Other than that, 25 is good enough and they already allow a 26th man for doubleheaders.
  23. If A-rod gets popped again, I think he's played his last game.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) To me the testing is almost as important as the penalties. I am thrilled with the new testing system. I am too, but it seems like a 50-game suspension isn't enough of a deterrent to not try to get away with it.
  25. I wish they would go to stiffer penalties-- 1st offense-- 1 year suspension and voided contract 2nd offense-- Lifetime ban
