  1. Should have put him on the paternity list when they had the chance. I'd still like to see them skip him a start.
  2. Looks like they'll have a nice window to get it in without further delays.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 7, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) You may be ready for it, but it may not happen. Gonzo just reported that T-storms are hitting Cleveland right now. Looks like the rain is starting to weaken. Probably won't start on time, but they'll get the game in.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 09:32 AM) I wonder how the 26 man roster rule works if you're supposed to have a double header but 1 of the games gets rained out and scheduled for the next day. I would think it's still 26 both days if the intention is to play 2 games that day. But I see what you mean, what if it's a doubleheader on a Wednesday, with both teams having an open day on Thursday. They play one on Wednesday with 26. Do they get 26 on Thursday too? Good question.
  5. Just eye-balling the radar, I'd say there's very little chance they start Game 1 on time. Hopefully get one in today, and 2 tomorrow.
  6. Could be a long, long day at the park. If both games get rained out, look for a doubleheader tomorrow and the Sox to have to come back on May 31 and lose an off day. I can't see them scheduling a doubleheader the final series of the season.
  7. Where's Tim Wakefield when you really need him?
  8. Ravelo really dropped down.
  9. And of course since this is taking place at Fenway Park, it automatically becomes a classic and will be talked about for years.

  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 04:55 PM) Wouldn't Axelrod's next start have been against KC next Friday? There's an off day Thursday, so Saturday is that spot's day, but they could choose to move Humber up, so he's technically the 4th starter. I would like to see them get in line to Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Humber, and then the 5th starter. I'd rather have Peavy be the stopper after the 5th starter than Danks right now. So maybe Peavy will pitch the first game against Detroit in 8 days, and Danks will pitch back-to-back Tuesday's.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) Molina the new 5th starter? Who knows, could be possible I'd guess. Thought crossed my mind. I really think Stults deserves an opportunity though. There's no rush for Molina right now. For all we know, this could just be a move to get fresh arms here tomorrow, and Axelrod will start again next Sunday.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) They needed an extra arm with Stewart pitching today and Sale being up in the air. I know. I was kidding.
  14. They probably want as many fresh arms as possible tomorrow. In addition to Stults. Maybe Heath? Bruney? Shirek? Whatever the case, I hope Stults earns his way to more starts after tomorrow.
  15. Axelrod optioned to AAA. Kenny not familiar with the new rule?
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ May 6, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) 27 games in--that's a month of baseball. RS: 107 RA: 104 Starters averaging 6.2 innings, and a 3.68 ERA. That may change now. Dunn 8 homers, and 22 RBIs. If he does that five more times, 48 homers, 132 RBIs, hitting .250, and an OBP of .376. He's back. Stop booing every K. Sox score less than 4 runs: 1-10 Sox score 4 runs: 5-3 Sox score more than 4 runs: 7-1 18 quality starts. 11-7 record in those games. That was a problem last year, and that continues. Good teams convert quality starts into wins. Anything less than 80% isn't good enough. Just for comparison, the Tigers have probably gotten away with more just to get to 14-13 after 27 games. 15 quality starts (11-4 in those games) Starting pitching: 3.98 ERA in 156 innings (average start just over 5.2 innings) Bullpen 4.02 ERA RS: 115 RA: 118 Fister is coming back now, so they probably just played their worst baseball of the season and got away with it.

  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) Cubs just DFA'd DeWitt. Give me him over Escobar as a back-up 2b/3b When escobar struck out yesterday, my first thought was that i hate young players on the bench. Besides catchers, bench players should be guys that used to start.

  20. Could be a long, rainy day in Cleveland tomorrow.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) Great is too strong a word for how he's been. He feasted off of some of the worst offenses in the NL so far. There's no question he'll be a low 3 ERA guy in the NL this year, IMO. Next 5 starts: vs NY at Atl vs Col vs SF at Phi And then the Marlins have two straight weeks of Red Sox and Rays, and then Blue Jays and Cardinals. He'll get tested in June. Might be a different for Mark being on the other side of interleague play.
  22. Complete game for Buehrle. Great first month for him in a Marlins uniform.
  23. 4-1 Marlins going to the bottom of the 9th. Buehrle still in there.
