  1. Mitchell interview. http://chicago-white-sox.fans-talk.com/eye...red-mitchell-2/
  2. The next 44 games are going to be tough. Felix, Romero, Wainwright, Lynn, Greinke, Gallardo, Kershaw, Capuano, and CC and Kuroda are possible. We'll also get Samardjia again, which should be fun. Rangers and Jays at home before the break, and 10-game roadtrip right after the break, including 4 at Boston and 3 at Detroit. It's going to be interesting to see what this team does from now until July 22. Peavy and Sale are legit 1-2 starters, but are health concerns. And then we have 3 other starters with ERAs over 5.00, with one of them on the DL. The bullpen has been good enough, but is still very young. The offense has really carried this team the last couple weeks, and that can't sustain forever. At some point, the starting pitching (Humber, Floyd, and Danks) will have to put up consistent quality starts. And when you consider what the Sox will be facing over the next 44 games, those starters better be ready to go once the offense cools off a little.
  3. If Hawk loses his mind again on a play like that, he should just take off the headphones and walk out, and let Stone handle it on his own.
  4. The weather looks pretty good the rest of the homestand. Even if it's a little low tonight, I hope Saturday and Sunday get well over 30,000. They should.
  5. It's going to be interesting to see how they draw tonight. Even if it's only 25,000, I hope the fans in the stands bring it hard tonight.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) To me the end game is to not stunt the kids growth. The "kid" is almost 26.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 07:59 AM) For as little as Robin uses his bench, no way. Let him play everyday. Maybe for a little while longer, but what's the end game here? Isn't he a 4th outfielder? That's what he would be. He could fill in anywhere in the outfield, pinch run and go in on defense.
  8. Strong probability two weeks from tonight in LA... Sale vs Kershaw

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 31, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) not sure why jordan danks doesn't get more credit on this board....has a double and a walk today. His obp is over .400 and OPS near .900. I know everyone hates the K's, but hes cut them down a bit, and as long as he is walking im ok with it. not sure how is defense has progressed, but I know he was a + defender at one point as well I've been saying he should replace Fukudome. 2-2, double, walk. Hitting .295.

  11. With it being a thin college draft, I hope they take a riskier high school guy. But I doubt we'll be able to get worked up over this draft one way or the other. I just hope the crapshoot aspect of the draft goes in the Sox favor.

  13. Cool, thanks. That Aug 15 thing was terrible.
  14. Does anyone know if the new rules and slotting will get players signed and playing sooner? Is that August 15th deadline still in play?
  15. All I'm going to say is Morel had moments in spring training where he looked very comfortable at the plate and drove the outside pitch to right/center. This could all be about his back, and if he actually feels better, then he is a better option at 3B than Hudson. The Sox have Hudson as a pretty darn good Plan B. Let's see what Morel can do when he gets back, and if he still sucks for a week, then send him down and go back to O-Dog.
  16. Cardinals are skipping Jaime Garcia. The Sox will face Wainwright, Lynn, and Westbrook based on the new rotation.
  17. Mariners get an off day in cool, rainy Chicago tomorow. Get drunk, guys.
  18. The Gio trades don't bother me now. He was super young in the Thome trade. The Swisher trade looks bad looking back, but it's just an offseason trade that didn't work out. The Hudson/Holmberg trade however was just bad. The team wasn't in a position to be making that gamble on Jackson being that guy to put them over the top. That 2010 team started 24-33, had a 26-5 run, and then crashed back to earth. And if you're curious what Holmberg is up to... http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...&pid=571787 Tell you what...if the Sox win the World Series this year, I'll never mention Hudson and Holmberg again.
  19. Holland shaved that thing on his face, and gave up 8 runs. 16-0 Mariners

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2012 -> 06:33 PM) ptac seemed encouraged about his mechanics. It almost would seem more likely if you just shut him down and limited his side work that he might end up being more likely to get injured when he came back and then felt too strong...I don't think what's the science behind that view, but whatever the eventual strategy turns out to be, it's going to be second-guessed. Cooper's already getting annoyed with the "rear seat driver" criticism. It's a scary thing with Sale. Probably the best thing for him is just watch his innings. Cooper watches the pitch count--don't let him tell you otherwise. Sox have a 4 run lead after 6 innings? Pull him. Sox have a big lead after 5 innings? Pull him. Skipping a start or two if the Sox open up a big division lead? Absolutely. They have to worry about the business of winning without being stupid with Sale. It's a tough thing.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 30, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) You realize Sale pitching less is what we need to happen. 200 innings from him is potentially disastrous and reckless on our part. If we can limit his innings without making his individual starts shorter and without making him stop permanently in the middle of a pennant run, that'd be perfect. Peavy likely falls into this category too, along with Humber. I don't actually think they should do this, but the thought came to me that maybe they should shut Sale down now until after the break. Keep Quintana going through interleague and the rest of the first half. If he's good, then maybe you feel comfortable trading Floyd. Then Sale gets 15 starts/100 innings in the second half. That would put him at 155-160 innings going into the postseason.

The true 6-man rotation for a long time--no way. Bad idea. A 20-day stretch without an off day, and you want to break it up by giving somebody a start? Absolutely.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Some of you guys have such knee-jerk reactions when it comes to prospects. Nestor wasn't going to be a chance on this team until MAYBE sometime next season anyway. If we get to the start of 2014 season and he isn't ready to take a spot at the end of the rotation, then I'll be worried. If the parent club was bad (which thankfully they are not), and they trade Peavy and Floyd, and Molina was good at AA, of course he could have come up in the second half. Where the Sox are now, and where Molina is now, of course not now. But it's not accurate to say he had no chance to be up at some point this season.
