  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 2, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) I highly doubt he would have signed with the Cubs. IIRC, Votto HATES them. Also, Rizzo likely has 1b locked up for the Cubs in the future. Good pint. Just the timing of it in a couple years when the Cubs would be ready to make an impact move.
  2. Reds are working on locking up Votto long term. Guess he won't be the Cubs first big fish under Theo.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Hmmm a no name pither. So his first start against the Sox? 7 IP 2 H 0 R sound about right? Smyly's first start will be April 12. The Sox will miss Verlander and Smyly in the opening series at the Cell. Should be: Peavy vs Fister Floyd vs Scherzer Sale vs Porcello No rain please.
  4. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 2, 2012 -> 10:06 AM) Then what's the point?? Good point. It's so bad, it's good.
  5. Fire up the plane, boys. Last Cactus League game. 2:05pm on whitesox.com (No Melton) De Aza, Lillibridge, Rios, Ramirez, Pierzynski, Morel, Flowers, Viciedo, Beckham (Floyd)

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 2, 2012 -> 09:33 AM) Do you consider yourself a fan of the show? What are you expecting? This has been definitive Mad Men these first two episodes of the season. If you don't like those, I have zero idea how you made it through the 4 seasons prior. I thought it was fantastic again last night. That's a little harsh. I'm a huge fan of the show, and even I have come away a little disappointed so far. It's just missing something so far for me, but I'm sure the season will turn out just as good as the first four.
  7. Mitchell looks good at the plate. I buried him last year. Hopefully he'll have a big year at Birmingham.
  8. This game is also on MLB Network for the out-of-towners.
  9. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) Wow. Lime Green walls at the new park? They just really want to be made fun of even more dont they? Was just coming here to comment on the same thing. Awful combination with the orange jerseys. Not good. Also there's an area right under the home run sculpture thingy that's just asking for review plays.
  10. Assuming it's the same Francisco, the Reds traded him, so the lineup may change.
  11. Phillips 2B, Cozart SS, Votto DH, Bruce RF, Ludwick LF, Francisco 1B, Stubbs CF, Fraizer 3B, Mesoraco C, Latos SP Peavy, Santiago, Reed, and Thornton facing a nice lineup.

Somebody watch The Killing so I don't have to and let me know if I should give it a second try.
  13. Way to get the run in there Rios....not.
  14. Nice 6 innings for Danks. Crain with a good inning. Sweet Caroline at Camelback Ranch? Keep it.
  15. Updated lineup with Morel in there. deaza cf, lillibridge ss, dunn 1b, knrko dh, rios rf, flowers c, fukudome lf, beckham 2b, morel 3b Pomeranz starting for the Rockies.
  16. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) Looks like Jesse Jackson will be holding protests at Sox games now.... I don't see why it matters really. Maybe it doesn't matter, but given the history of race in baseball, it's noteworthy. But thank you for the Jesse Jackson reference right out of the gate.
  17. I think this is noteworthy/interesting/somewhat disturbing... There are no African-American players on the Sox 25-man roster, and this will be the first time there isn't an African-American in the opening day starting lineup since 1955.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 01:18 PM) Some people blow the doors off in Spring Training, make the team, and take that right on into the season and contribute to the big club. Some people blow the doors off in Spring Training, make the team, and s*** the bed when the bell rings. Based on last season, Bruney would have been the latter... And with that said, Nate Jones is probably the most likely to be sent down first.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) So does Stewart go to AAA? If so, I'm cool with Jones. What happened to Infante? Infante was one of the first cuts after he was injured. Oblique, if I recall correctly. The bullpen is set: Stewart Jones Santiago Ohman Reed Crain Thornton (closer, most likely)
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) I kind of feel bad for Bruney. It's hard to do much better than what he did. He got torched last night. It probably didn't mean anything, but it didn't help his cause.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 31, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) I know nothing about him nor have heard of him until this spring. Another Santos type find? He was drafted by the Sox years ago. He's always had good stuff, but throwing strikes has been his problem. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=jones-001nat Fun fact: He was born the same day the space shuttle blew up.
  22. Rockies didn't bring much to Glendale today. Danks should have a good outing.
