  1. Van Schouwen reporting Bruney yelled as he threw pitch to Butler that was hit for a double. AJ went to check on him, but he's ok. You know, for a mouthpiece like Merkin to say he thinks Jones and Stewart are making the team, maybe he knows how they're leaning. Bruney may have pitched his way off tonight. So the pen is probably: Stewart (long relief) Jones Ohman-L Reed Santiago-L Crain Thornton-L (closer)
  2. Just looked at Jones' numbers this spring. 9.2 innings. 15 Ks, 8 hits, 6 walks 1.86 ERA Before tonight, Bruney's numbers were stellar. We'll see what happens.
  3. Hosmer being Hosmer. 2-run single.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Perhaps Stults was always a long shot to make the team, but his ERA's still around the low 3's, 3.38. The main question is do they want to let Stewart and Axelrod both continue to work as starters at Charlotte? You can see them going with Bruney and Stults as the last guy out of the bullpen/spot starter/innings eater in blowouts. Going by how they're talking, you'd have to think they will keep Stewart in the pen and send Axelrod down. I think Stewart is making the team. It sounds like Bruney vs Jones for the last spot. Personally, I like Bruney for a couple innings at a time in blowout games. Jones will probably get the call up at some point this season. Scott Merkin thinks Jones is making the team out of spring training, but I don't buy that yet. Of course now Bruney is in there now and went 3-0 on the first hitter before giving up a hit, and then walked the second batter. And now a double. Nate Jones, your table is ready.
  5. I know they probably don't want to be there anymore, but how about a hit before the game ends?
  6. Hosmer is going to be a f***ing beast, isn't he?
  7. According to Merkin, Ventura may have the roster set on Sunday. Makes sense if they're traveling Monday night. His guess is Nathan Jones will beat out Brian Bruney, and Zach Stewart will beat out Dylan Axelrod for bullpen spots. Bruney is pitching tonight, so it could be huge for him.
  8. Dunn - MVP But seriously... Beckham - Gold Glove Because that means he hit too, and that's how that award works.
  9. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) Is this game on TV? No.
  10. Cabrera back in the lineup. Double, 2 RBIs. What new?

  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) So it looks like the Thornton will be closing to start the season.. MEH. It would appear that way. Hope they can get away with it for a while. Stults starts tomorrow night, with Humber pitching a minor league game. Bruney will relieve Stults. Sunday on CSN-- Peavy vs Latos. That should be watchable.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) Danks vs Lewis Peavy vs Holland Floyd vs Harrison This is official now.
  14. Trayce Thompson batting 8th. Beckham moves up to 3.
  15. 5 games left in Arizona. Thursday- vs LA 3pm (Sale on CSN) Friday- vs KC 8pm (Humber pitches in B Game or AAA game) Saturday- vs Col 3pm (Danks on .com) Sunday- vs Cin 3pm (Peavy on CSN) Monday- vs Mil 2pm (Floyd on .com) Tuesday- at Hou 7pm (Sale on CSN) Wednesday- at Hou 1pm (Humber) Thursday- workout in Arlington Friday- Ring the bell.
  16. Flowers with a couple hits vs Rockies. Hitting .316 this spring, which is better than the alternative.
  17. Axelrod with a meh outing. Stewart is probably making the team. Doyle will relieve next inning. Lillibridge came out early. Might be a leg injury on a play earlier in the game. edit: Axelrod still in there to start the 6th
  18. Looks like it will be Danks vs Lewis Peavy vs Holland Floyd vs Harrison Darvish is more than likely 4th for the Rangers. It also appears the Sox will get the Indians 4th and 5th starters, and Masterson--which may explain why Ubaldo started against the Sox yesterday. And there's a decent chance the Sox will miss Verlander in the opening series at home.
  19. Christian Marrero to the Braves for cash. Anyone else, Braves?
  20. Nice play by Erik Morrison at 3B. Will have a nice shin burger.
  21. Doyle will relieve Axelrod in the webcasted game, I believe.
  22. Melton breathing like Tony Soprano.
  23. Bruney- another scoreless inning. Walked the leadoff guy, but erased on a dp.
  24. Somebody needs to tell Melton it's Jeff Manto, not Mantos.
  25. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) Sale wins 17 - pitches 180 innings - Ks 190. If Sale wins 17, the Sox will win the division. Viciedo hits 25 HRs - leads all A.L. OF in assists. Maybe. Dunn hits .260 and walks more than he Ks. Not going to happen (the k/bb part) Morel wins the Gold Glove over Longoria at 3b when he hits 20 HR and bats .310. Hope so. Addison Reed saves more games than Matt Thornton. That's not bold in my book. My bold predictions: Humber makes the All-Star team. Peavy stays healthy. Konerko top-5 MVP
