2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) Adam Jones is a much better player than anyone the Sox have.. DeAza to me is a 4th OF. De Aza may very well be a 4th outfielder, but if there was ever a year to give him 650 PAs to find out, this one coming up may be it. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) I was at first. But after this Latos trade, man, I expecting severely disappointing returns for Danks and/or Floyd. Then they shouldn't make a trade for the sake of making a trade. Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Humber, Sale is a major league rotation that can win if everything goes right. If they have a rotation with Axelrod and Stewart, they're not winning. They worry about attendance so why not at least sell a little hope with a pretty good rotation and see where they are in June/July. -
So I trust Peavy is getting the offseason he was looking forward to in September, and he's preparing for his 34 starts and 220 innings. Where's that quote?

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 06:40 PM) Maybe Rockies or Red Sox too? The Red Sox did not bid according to the Boston Globe.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) I'm going to guess Nationals. Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me either. The buzz is leaning toward Texas and Toronto. With Wilson gone now and their apprehension on going after Fielder, I'm thinking the Rangers really want Darvish, so maybe they overbid.
-
@DKnobler Rangers or Blue Jays?

QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Are you suggesting Cooper should have been let go? Yes, Kenny and the entire coaching staff. At the very least, a new GM and let him make that decision. Kenny shouldn't have been given the opportunity to fix his own mess. It's ridiculous he's still there.

Should. Have. Cleaned. House.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) If they were going to "Try to win in 2012", Sergio Santos was the last guy they should have considered trading. I agree, but if they think Reed can do the job now, then I'd rather see them just play it out with what they have. If they trade Danks and Floyd, then they should go all the way---that means Konerko, AJ, Alexei, Thornton, Crain go now too. The last thing I want to see is they trade Danks, Floyd, and Thornton, and then the season starts and Dunn hits 7 bombs in April, Peavy pitches like an ace, Sale pitches like an ace of the future, and Beckham and Rios are fine too. But Stewart and Axelrod are the 4th and 5th starters and the bullpen is short without Thornton, and they wish they had those pitchers back. In short, go for it with what you have or blow it up beyond recognition right now.

I'd rather they just move Quentin for whatever, and stand pat with the rest of the team....all of which have had some success in their careers. Baseball is a funny game. Career years happen. Injuries plague other teams. I'd rather they just play it out, and see where they're at at the all-star break. If that means they don't get as much for Danks and Floyd, so be it. At least they tried to win in 2012. If they go with a rotation with Axelrod and Stewart in it, then they really don't stand a chance.

QUOTE (heirdog @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 07:43 AM) Jon heyman tweeted a few mins ago that yanks considering Danks for one of banuelos/montero/betances...even though kw asked for 2 of them. Shows Danks value higher than Santos...as get none of those for him. So in other words, if it happens, we're getting Betances.

Hey Brewers, need a LF for a couple months? Quentin?

I'd still like to know if Pujols is on the List of 104. God damn, this stuff pisses me off. Before testing, I understood why guys did it. Post-Mitchell Report, I was hoping the stigma of getting caught would prevent some guys from dioing it, particularly the better players. I wish there was a 2-strike rule. First one, season off. Second one, lifetime ban.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 10, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) That sucks for Matt Kemp. Unless...well, you know. Jumped from 59 to 76 xbh. Just sayin'.

I love when people automatically rise up and say.... Frank did it clean!...Paulie did it clean!.... You don't know these people!!!! You have no idea. I have no idea. It's better to just hope they didn't, but say nothing. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. Oh, and I'd say strip Braun of his MVP, but whatever.

Anyone speak spanish? What's Molina saying?

Furcal back to Cardinals for 2 years. Cross them off the list for Alexei.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) Okay, so let me get this straight. The Twins need arms so badly that they're going to keep a guy who wasn't even able to crack our top 10 prospects on their 25-man roster for a substantial period of time? They have to have a better option in their system somewhere, or is their farm more salt-laden than ours, even? Agree with Obama here, he will be back in Charlotte in May. He may be back, sure. But once a guy is taken in the Rule 5, that guy will be given a longer look than other guys. All things equal with other pitchers, he'll make the team. We shall see.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) Doyle will be back with the Sox next season I'm going to say he sticks with the Twins for a while. They need arms.
