  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) Jhan Ramirez will probably be in the mix as well. Jhan Marinez
  2. Gotta love the walk/K numbers on Molina. Like it.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) I could see KW falling in love with Gary Brown's speed and potential as leadoff hitter. Giants did trade their top pitching prospect last year for Beltran (Wheeler). Funny you should bring him up. I just heard an interview with him a few days ago on KNBR. First off, he sounds like a great guy. Then I watched a youtube video, and he can fly, but he did make some bad routes in the outfield.
  4. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) The Giants are very interested in Quentin and Alexei... The japanese shortstop Nakajima may be on the Giants radar. They will probably announce who won the posting tomorrow.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) Something.....happen.....White Sox.....zzz..zzzzzzzZZzzzzz The crystal ball says a trade will be announced between 2 and 3 today.
  6. Ok, then....back to the Nationals being the front-runners for Buehrle.
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) The Rangers are very interested in MB according to recent reports. 6 years to CJ Wilson is quite ridiculous imo. Yeah, Rangers may offer him something he can't refuse, but I have to think he would prefer an NL team. If it comes down to the Sox and Rangers offering three year deals, then he'll be back.
  8. Good news for the fans that want Buehrle back at any cost... The Nationals offered Wilson six years. If he takes that, and the Marlins don't offer Buehrle a no-trade clause, it could be good for his chances to return. I wonder if Buehrle would then wait out the Pujols/Cardinals saga. If Pujols leaves, then the Cards may do some other stuff to open room for Buehrle. Not likely, but not impossible.
  9. Kenny is there. Thanks for showing up 24 hours late.
  10. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) I sure hope so. I'd like to watch him dominate the NL. Agreed. It just feels like a great fit for Buehrle at this point of his career. And Wilson seems like a better fit for the Angels with him being from there, and would be part of a rotation that he doesn't have to be an ace.
  11. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) Speculation as to who they would be discussing? Homer Bailey maybe? You remember Dye almost went there a couple years ago. Once the Sox like a guy, they stick with it until they get him, even if they're near retirement.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Interesting - $12M-$13M per for 3 years. I was saying before all the sweepstakes he'd get less than his last contract, and everyone scoffed. He's not likely to get the 4/$56 kind of deal people are talking about, unless one of those teams goes nuts. At 3/$36-$39, if the Sox can move a few salaries, I'd love to see them do it. And I still stick with my earlier assertion, 60% chance he stays. If it's true the Sox won't give more than 2 years, then I still think he leaves for a 3-year deal and a full no-trade from an NL team. The rumor out there now is CJ Wilson has a 6-year offer from somebody. If that's the Angels, he's going there. Then it would open up the Nationals to offer Buehrle possibly a 4th year or maybe just an option for a 4th year. I really think he's going there unless the Nationals were the team to offer Wilson six years.
  13. I'm ready for some Sox news. How about the inevitable Quentin trade? Where's that guy going?
  14. Pitchers and Catchers report February 23. Everything is a week too late next year. November World Series games again! http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2422212.story
  15. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Right. And, these are the 2 biggest winners the Sox have had in a long time. With these being 2 of the very few professional ball players the Sox have right now, they are likely last place finishers in the dvision without them. With them, they might be middle of the pack.....might have a shot at .500. How will attendance be when the Sox are in the cellar of the AL Central ? And, besides these 2 stars who else on the Sox would you go out and pay money to watch? If I had the desire to write a lengthy response, I would. But I don't. Let's just say, don't worry about Konerko leaving. He's staying for a few more years. And to me, last place and finishing .500 is the same thing---no playoffs. There's no difference to me. I'd rather finish last and have a real farm system, than finish .500 and no farm system. That's why this team is stuck in the middle.
  16. @SI_JonHeyman If they won't budge for Buehrle, I wouldn't be surprised if that was a deal-breaker for him going there. Give the Nats a couple days. They'll come up with a 4th year, and the deal will get done.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) I'd bet on the under. Me too. He doesn't have a no-trade clause either.
  18. Reyes 6 yrs/ 106 mil from Miami. 162 x 6 = 972 How many games will he play for them? 650? Something like that?
  19. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Exactly. Buehrle is worth the money that he wants just due to the ticket sales. If Konerko was traded and Buehrle signed elsewhere it would be hard to imagine what KW could even do to draw flies to the park next year. Buehrle starts about 16 home games and Konerko sat the last series at home to maintain a .300 average. I just want winners. I don't care about the names on the backs of the jerseys. And let me be clear, Buehrle and Konerko may be my two favorite Sox players ever. But winning trumps all and that's what gets Sox fans to the park.
  20. More Marlins buzz.... http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/sox-drawer/...&feedID=665 They have to give him a no-trade.
  21. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) Scott Merkin said that KW won't be in Dallas until Monday evening. I'm going to try not to criticize this, but what the f***, man? It's three full days to get stuff done. Why give up a full day? I hope Monday evening means 6pm.
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) I'll be surprised if the Sox don't match a 3-year offer. My prediction was 4/58 from Washington. I'm sticking with that until further notice.
  23. Can't blame Buehrle for wanting a no-trade. Hell, if these teams knew anything about him, they shouldn't even approach him without knowing a no-trade is a must. I'm sticking with Washington as his next team.
  24. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) It's going to happen. Then M56 will elevate us from below average to mediocre. I can't wait. Don't you start that crap now too.
  25. I hope the only salary dump is Quentin and everything else happens only if they get overwhelmed. If they play the "Jerry to the Rescue" card again with Buehrle, I'll puke.
