  1. With the World Series postponed, good night to throw in the DVDs.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) So, I'm betting Carp starts if there's a game 7, whaddya think? You have to think so. Washington has said Holland won't pitch, but how can you do that considering it's on normal rest and he's coming off a gem. My problem with Holland is that he's acted like a fool since Sunday doing every interview, doing hack comedy acts, etc. Maybe he's mentally cashed out of this now, and that's why Wash doesn't want to change the plan. Just a thought.
  3. I think they did the right thing if they think there would be rain delays tonight and they know the weather is favorable for Thursday and Friday. Why start it, ruin the starting pitchers in the most important game of the year, and have it come down to the bullpens going 6-7 innings...while inconveniencing the fans and ending the game at 2am? Good move even if they could have gotten the game in eventually tonight.
  4. I hope they postpone it if they know it's clear sailing Thursday and Friday night.
  5. If I were a Cubs fan, I would probably be excited that they're bringing in management that has done it before. It starts from the top, and historically they've always been bad at the top, or didn't care about winning. It's not a guarantee that they'll win, but they're in better shape today than they were yesterday.
  6. Oh! He has a policy! The delicate genius has a policy!
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Small thing, but I'm bothered that the Score is carrying the Epstein press conference when they did not carry Ventura's. They carried the 45 minute conference call live the day he got hired. The official press conference for the photo-op was about 15 minutes, and the Bears played the night before. It really was no big deal.
  8. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) Impressive win by the Rangers. They looked horrible in that second inning but they rebounded. Those were gift runs, thus Cards really have been shutout the last two games. Momentum goes to Rangers but Cards still have their "wildcard" home field advantage. Good series. Really hope that it goes 7 games! Hell of a Series. After seeing the Rangers lose last year, I've gotta pull for them to get their first title. If it happens in 6 games, I'm ok with it.
  9. Second single for Saladino. Also he's playing 3B. 4 shutout innings for Doyle. ERA at 1.08.
  10. Some Sox players in action today. Doyle starting. Saladino walk, single, 2 RBIs. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...msswin_srrwin_1
  11. Kenny's M.O.-- Try to catch lightning in a bottle with the major league club, and don't worry about the minors. Nothing new here until he's gone.
  12. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...msswin_scowin_1 Blanke homered. Saladino 2 hits. Even Griffith didn't walk anyone for 2 innings.
  13. Weather not looking promising for tonight. Wouldn't baseball be better if they just lopped off about 20 games and finshed in the middle of October? Not going to happen, but I think the product would be better.
  14. Another good outing for Doyle. 5 innings. Gave up a solo homer, walked one, struck out 4. Short- walk, single
  15. The Cubs should tell the Red Sox to f*** off and hire Hahn or another guy.
  16. Buddy Bell was on the radio this morning... Said Jared Mitchell had a great Instructional League working with Laker and Manto. We'll see how that plays out next year. Also mentioned Tyler Saladino. Said fans will love the way he plays the game. Pure baseball player.
  17. QUOTE (spiderman @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) I think Axelrod/Stewart or another team's prospect will be replacing Danks or Floyd. This rotation would have a lot of struggles. There's no #1, Peavy can't be trusted, Sale will growing pains, Humber will have to show he wasn't a first half wonder, and it all boils down to Floyd and Danks having 17 win seasons, neither of whom has shown that this is likely to happen. I'm not saying they would be a division-winning rotation, but it could be pretty good if everything goes right: Peavy gets his precious regular offseason that he's wanted, and actually does bounce back. Maybe not Cy caliber, but equal to what Buehrle has done. Danks and Floyd have been part of a division winner before. They could bounce back--and should. Humber goes into the second full year and improves a little. Sale may be a future ace, and could be a very solid 5th starter. And if the team still doesn't hit by July, Peavy, Danks, and Floyd could be attractive to other teams with the possibility of all of them being free agents a year from now. I guess what I'm saying is there's no need to gut this team completely this winter. They can let Buehrle go and trade Quentin, and try to compete next year. If it works, great. If it doesn't, then you just trade when you can next season, and retool on the fly.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Addison Reed has a reasonable chance to make the Sox's 2012 opening day roster, and Friday's moves don't hurt. Would anyone object to a 2012 pitching staff like this: R: Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Humber, Sale BP: Axelrod, Stewart, Ohman, Reed, Thornton, Crain, Santos The might not win, but it's not that bad if they somehow are healthy and stay healthy.
  19. QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) A Cy Young winner should also start 3 times in a 7 game series, but that aint happening because of Verlander's precious "routine". I can not believe there's not more criticism of that written this post season. He's been mediocre this postseason, but let's not criticize Leyland for only using him twice in a 7-game series. Statistically, pitchers are better on four days rest. It takes a team to win these series. I think the teams that panic and go to short rest with pitchers that aren't used to it, are hurting their teams more than helping them.
  20. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) batting 2nd and playing CF for the Brewers today.... Mark Kotsay Bet he grounds out to second at least twice.
  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 12, 2011 -> 10:11 AM) Good for MLB in finally evening out the divisions! Now all we need is for people to get over the quaint notion of pitchers having to bat and we can get rid of the AL and NL completely and have a total geographic realignment. If they ever dismantle the leagues and put the Sox and Cubs in the same division, I will be done with baseball. That's a promise.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Bold prediction-- the Rangers have lost their last game. They run off the next 6. I jinx things. That's what I do.
