  1. 2/26, with an option for a 3rd.
  2. Even his contract amount is douchey.
  3. Papelbon to Philly.

3 shutout innings for Doyle. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...pddwin_msswin_1
  5. These are 40-man roster guys too. They are at 34.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) The only way that option is not picked up is if he blows out his arm. What about a bad year? 9.5 mil isn't exactly cheap labor.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) Gavin Floyd is not in a contract year. 2013 is a club option, so it could be.
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 11:31 AM) Use the money earmarked for Buehrle to upgrade other areas or save it? Assuming they're shedding payroll to about 110 mil, you go to arbitration with Danks (or just agree to a one-yr deal), and trade Quentin. Outfield--Rios, De Aza, Viciedo Infield--Morel, Ramirez, Beckham, Konerko Catcher-Pierzynski DH- Dunn Bench--Lillibridge, Flowers, maybe Martinez or Kuhn, or sign a cheap veteran outfielder. Rotation--Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Humber, Sale Bullpen--Axelrod, Frasor, Reed, Ohman, Thornton, Crain, Santos That's probably around 110 mil.
  9. Uh...no. You have Peavy, Danks, and Floyd in their contract years, Humber and Sale, and a pretty decent bullpen. Along with unmovable contracts in Dunn and Rios. They try to win next year by having everything go right. If it doesn't, they have the trade deadline and next offseason to continue the dismantling. Will it suck to have Buehrle leave? Yeah, kind of. But by no means do I want them to give him 3 guaranteed years at this point.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) Happy birthday Adam Dunn. Only one piece of cake.

    Lots o' Sox today... http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...srrwin_msswin_1
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) This is going to sound harsh and probably pretty difficult to do, but when you make it to America to play baseball, don't go back to your s***hole countries anymore. And if you get far enough to earn a good amount of money, move your immediate family here with you. At the very least, get more security while you're there. After Gus Polidor got killed, I always wondered why the hell Ozzie ever went back there, but that's their home.
  13. RIP Heavy D
  14. If he gets traded now, it would be part of big package deal. Since he's been compared to Michael Young in the past, I'd like to point out Young really didn't do anything in the majors until he was 26. 10 years later, he's had a damn good career. I'd like to give Beckham at least one more year with a new coaching staff, and see if he can come around with the bat.
  15. Message to Mark Buehrle: Do not sign with an NL West team other than the Giants.
  16. Jonathan Sanchez to the Royals for Melky Cabrera.

  18. I just want Dunn to return to 2004-2010 numbers. Whatever Manto has to say to get him there, I'm ok with.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) I think people forget about Minnie's time in the Negro Leagues, or the fact that he was the first "black Latin" player in the bigs. His performance goes well beyond what he did statistically in the majors. I think he has a decent shot at it. I agree. He really was one of the under-appreciated stars of the 1950's. Probably a victim of his era, and park he played in.

Blanke has thrown out a couple runners today.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) I thought the Blue Jays wouldn't let him speak with other teams? That's correct. I think Dale Svuem is the next manager of the Cubs.
  22. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) I honestly wonder if Theo was taking a little dig at the White Sox at the same time of diffusing any Sandberg rumors. I think he doesn't give one s*** about the White Sox, nor should he. But I do think that saying that one of the criteria for the new manager is having major league managerial or coaching experience was to communicate to everyone that Ryne Sandberg will not be a candidate.
