  2. Sometimes it's better just to be bad. It's easier to take.
  3. Willie Harris single and error. 2 runs score. 8-6 Mets. I'm not a Cardinals fan, but damn....
  4. Double 6-6, bases loaded, still one out. Ouch
  5. Cardinals trying to blow a 6-1 lead going into the 8th. Now 6-4, 1 out, bases loaded in the 9th for the Mets.
  6. Cardinals off to a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. Could be one back with 6 left, and a cake schedule.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) After 277 career games, Juan Pierre had 343 hits Pierre was also 25 at the time.
  8. Remember when some of us thought Beckham may be a great talent? Gordon Beckham 377 games - 324 hits Starlin Castro 277 games - 338 hits 100 games less and 3 years younger. That's something.
  9. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Come on, greg, I dislike the Yankees/BoSox love as much as the next guy, but the scheduling of a lot of divisional games is not part of some vast conspracy. It may not be part of a conspiracy, but it may be part of the equation. They probably do it to build rivalries--which I don't believe in for a minute. They may also do it for travel considerations--hours on planes for the coastal teams, and expenses. To me, the bigger problem is that they don't schedule road trips that make any sense. there should be more 3-city trips that are more regional. If I had it my way, they would get rid of divisions, go back to a balanced schedule and the top-3 teams in the league would make the playoffs. 4 and 5 would play a best-of-3 to get in. Just adding a wildcard with divisions still in play is going to be a train wreck.
  10. I want Buehrle back, but not for more than two years guaranteed and not at the expense of Chris Sale being in the bullpen for another year. What the Sox need to take into consideration is that they don't have a starting pitcher that they would feel real comfortable starting in a Game 1 of a postseason series. In my opinion, the best chance of having an ace in a few years is Chris Sale. He has to start next season and get his starting career going.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) Maybe they should open a Hall of Nice Guys who played Forever? Matt Stairs & Sean Casey, your plaques are ready. Sean Casey retired at 34.
  12. Atl 89-68 - Stl 87-69 1.5 Cardinals/Mets tomorrow afternoon. Braves are off Thursday. Then... Atlanta: 3 at Was 3 vs Phi St. Louis: 3 vs Cubs 3 at Hou
  13. Bos 88-68 - LAA 85-70 2.5 TB 85-70 2.5 Boston: 3 at NY 3 at Bal Angels: 1 at Tor 3 vs Oak 3 vs Tex Rays: 1 at NY 3 vs Tor 3 vs NY New Rule: Last 2 weeks of the season, each team plays four different teams.
  14. Posada 2-run single in the 8th. 4-2 Yankees. 3 outs away from winning the AL East. f***.
  15. Cardinals win. 1.5 game lead for the Braves. One back in the loss column. Cardinals have Mets tomorrow, then Cubs and Astros. Braves have Nationals and Phillies.
  16. Willie Harris 2-out homer in St. Louis. 6-5 cards.
  17. Freese 3-run jack. 6-4 Cards. Red Sox about to lose...woooooo
  18. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) I would be interested in people defining whether 2006 was a "successful" season, then. I'm not sure how many wins over 90 an organization can reasonably "expect" You have to dig a little deeper on that season. They finished 34-43 the last 77. Ultimately it was an unsuccessful season.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) No way, they'll let him pitch at least a few innings at the Cell next week. I agree, plus it's doubtful he'll go 7.2 innings tonight to reach 200 innings. He'll start next Monday or Tuesday vs Toronto.
  20. Success is relative to different teams. If the Pirates finished .500, they could call it a successful season. The Diamondacks are going from a 97-loss season to the playoffs the next year. No matter what they do in the playoffs, it's been a successful season. For teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and the Phillies this year, nothing but winning the World Series is a successful season. And for the White Sox, I call it a successful season if they make the playoffs. Just finishing over .500 means nothing to me.
  21. Old school... Verlander and Kershaw both lead their leagues in the triple crown categories...ERA, wins, and strikeouts. Done deal. They are the Cy Young winners.
  22. Hideous... http://eye-on-baseball.blogs.cbssports.com...297882/32148056
  23. Instead of the pitcher retaliation, I wish Alexei just went out there.
  24. Rays miss an opportunity to move closer. Red Sox and Braves may both make it, but I wouldn't put money on either making it out of the first round.
