QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) Ugh, doubleheader tomorrow? Looks like the rain might break up as it approaches. Might be a delay, but I think they'll play tonight. -

Long rain delay looks likely tonight. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 10:09 PM) I'm pretty sure he'd hit like first half Juan Pierre. Defense can only go so far. He wouldn't come up for his offense, although he hasn't been awful this year either. Pinch run, defense, he's already on the 40-man....bring him up next week.

QUOTE (SnB @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) I'll take ANY meaningful baseball in August/September, even if it's just hanging on by a thread. I'm not happy about it, but I'll still be watching and hoping. That's how I feel about it too, but it doesn't give Kenny/Ozzie a pass if they get close but come up short.

All you need to know about Kenny Williams: 11 years 2 playoffs (assuming this year they won't make it), in the biggest market, in the weakest division 3 bad years the last three, with multiple mistakes A poor relationship with his manager A poor farm system The Sox entered the season "all-in". When you go all in and you lose, you have to leave the table. That means Kenny has to go. And I don't want to hear about him getting promoted either. His stamp shouldn't be on this team in any way anymore. He needs to go.
-
Maybe, but at least he'll be there. And the D-backs will have him cheap for the next 5 years.
-
Just lock this, so I'm not tempted to come back and point out how bad that trade was. 14-9, 3.61 28 starts, 187 innings. Oh, and he can rake too. He'll be starting Game 2 in Philadelphia.

Young Guns prevail again ! WHite Sox winner !

If the Sox sweep the Twins and the Royals get one more vs Detroit, then the lead would be down to 3.5 going into the weekend. Then if the Sox take 2 of 3 in Detroit, the Sox would be down 2.5 with 25 left. If this plays out the rest of the week, I'll officially jump back on. -
Escobar may be call up worthy.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Hope DV plays tonight. With 31 left, I bet he starts at least 25 times. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) So yeah, 30 mins in and Breaking Bad is bringing it. Loved the last scene. Next week is going to be awesome.

This week: Monday: Slowey-Buehrle Tuesday: Swarzak- Stewart Wednesday: Diamond- Peavy Friday: Danks - Verlander Saturday: Floyd - Penny Sunday: Buehrle - Scherzer Then Humber and Stewart will start the doubleheader in Minnesota on Labor Day. Peavy and Danks follow. Which of the underperfomers will figure it out in 2012?
flavum replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wasn't around the game thread today, but damn Beckham had some great swings today....that's what we need next year. -
Sox go 10-7 in Seattle, LAA, and Oakland this year. Remember when they sucked out there? If you include Colorado and Arizona, they were 14-9 in the pac/mtn time zones.

Good to see Santiago still having good outings.

Isn't Charlotte playing now? http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...chraaa_dubaaa_2

Tigers are 1.5 out from the 2-seed. It seemed like the Yankees and Red Sox were playing to face Verlander twice in a 5-game series, but it still could be the AL West winner against the AL East winner. I'm rooting for a Tigers/Brewers World Series. Both are great baseball towns with fans that get it.
-
It doesn't bother me he's not playing tonight. The team is out of it. I didn't like Beckham playing the day he got called up either. He flew in from Charlotte and played a day game. He then proceeded to start his career 2-28.

QUOTE (TomPickle @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) Viciedo was pulled out of the game in the second inning. Hopefully he's not hurt. Quentin is on the DL.

Thome batting cleanup for the Tribe tonight. Hope he enjoys his five weeks there, but the fans that booed him for years shouldn't be allowed to cheer for him now.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Team record when each pitcher starts: Verlander: 20-8 Sabathia: 19-9 Beckett: 18-7 Weaver: 18-9 He hasn't been all that much more valuable to his team than other starters. He seems more valuable because of the rest of his team's struggles. It's one piece of the equation. You have team record, quality starts, innings pitched, ERA, WHIP, strikeouts, performance following a loss. I think if you take everything in consideration, Verlander runs away with the Cy, and is a legitimate MVP candidate.
