They can probably get a nice pick or piece for him.

This team is not going to contend next year with the bullpen intact. They need to deal Thornton and Santos to to upgrade the overall talent and Sale will be in the rotation. A very tall order to do all that and and then put together a solid pen.

I've heard numerous Score commentators who have said they have heard there is no way the Sox pick up Frasor's option. I'm not so sure about that.

Frasor might be back but I think we can go younger and cheaper as we have some decent in-house folks to pick from in 2012. Frasor should be trade bait, but if we don't pick him up KW is just making the original bad deal (Hudson) look even worse, I am still inclined to keep Sale in the pen, but a lot depends on who stays and who leaves pitchingwise

That's ridiculous. Not picking up the option on a 34-year old serviceable reliever will not make the Hudson deal look worse. Let him walk, collect the draft pick, and move on.

I hope Frasor doesn't want to return so the Sox have little risk in offering him arbitration. Lord knows the Sox need draft picks.

If he were to accept arbitration he should still at least be tradeable mid-season. Reliever on a 1 year, $2.75 mil deal.

At his age, I'd imagine he'd be looking for some security. There will probably be some dumb team out there that offers him a multi-year deal. At least I hope so.

He should be a type B free agent if we decline the $3.5 million option on him for next year and then offer him arbitration. That would get the Sox a sandwich pick if he declined arbitration.

I guess it does come down to how our pitching looks in ST too. Frsor might be the best option. Kind of hard to really make a judgement on this guy. You need a hgood blend of veterans and youth on a winnig team IMO. I know some want to go all young, but I see that as acepting 4th or lower for a few years

The problem for me is that Frasor really hasn't looked that good since coming to the Sox. 5.40 ERA, 1.80 WHIP since coming to Chicago. That makes me, um, hesitate about wanting him back.

IF there was no draft pick for him, I'd probably go ahead and pick up his option, because even if things went badly he'd still be tradeable again midseason. But with how he's performed with the Sox, I'd rather have the sandwich pick if it is an option.

That's a risk I'm not willing to take. And what the hell would the market be for two months of Jason Frasor? You've already got $10 million committed to Thornton/Crain next year. You've got Santos/Reed from the right-side. Another $3.5 million dollar reliever would be foolish, IMO.

He'll get a much bigger deal than that on the FA market, that's for sure.
