  1. 28-14, including 4-2 vs the Tigers and 7-4 vs the Indians. Sox do that, playoffs. If not, going to need a lot of help.
  2. Yeah, that's ridiculous. Set up a fund for the family, and move on. It was his own fault he died in a freak accident. If he were a single, non-firefighter, there's no way they're doing this.
  3. Was there for this one... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/media/play...b_tp350&v=2 And this one... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/video/play...91&c_id=cws Sox win 1-0 in both games.
  4. Big Jim! Too bad that exclusive club has Arod, Bonds and Sosa there to taint it. Mike and Mike will talk about it tomorrow, and of course it will be all about Mark Schlereth's son giving it up.
  5. Tyler Kuhn and Josh Phegley back to Birmingham. Don't get it. Especially Kuhn.
  6. Birmingham gets 19 hits, and KW Jr. goes 0-5. Funny.
  7. Uggla's streak came to an end today at 33. Darwin Barney made a real nice catch going back on a ball to rob him.
  8. Paulie is a god. You can tell he's in a ton of pain. After Friday, i thought they'd lose another one, but they did ok. 8-2 the last 10. It's still going to be tough, but with 42 left, they're still playing for something.
  9. If the Indians get rained out, they have an off day tomorrow, and then are looking at 45 games in 44 days, including 3 doubleheaders. Ouch.
  10. Assuming the Sox win today, here are the records of every 40 games of the Tigers and Sox: Tigers-- 22-18 21-19 21-19 White Sox-- 16-24 22-18 22-18 3 things: 1) Starting 11-22 killed the Sox. 2) As mediocre as the Tigers are, they've been consistent. 3) Over the last 42 games, it's tough, and would be tough to make up ground on the Tigers short of beating them 5 out of 6.
  11. They were just talking about Buehrle on Hit and Run, and what he'll get. To me, he can't have a pay cut. I think 2 years/28 mil is fair for Buehrle, plus an option for a 3rd. And the more I think about it, Danks and Floyd both have to be traded after this season. They aren't going to keep Danks after 2012 anyway. Trade him before then and maximize his value. 2012 rotation: Buehrle, Peavy, Humber, Sale, Stewart (maybe a young starter comes back in one of the trades) Could they suck? Yes, but they aren't winning or drawing fans with the team they have now.
  12. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 14, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) yet another must-win. Basically, yeah. Just to keep it simple, the Sox have to win 2 of 3 the rest of the season. Win today, and go 28-14 the rest of the season to finish 88-74.
  13. Francis vs Danks Pierre, Ramirez, Konerko, Quentin, Rios, Lillibridge, Flowers, Beckham, Morel
  14. 33 games for Uggla. It would be cool to see it get to 40. Hasn't happened since 1978.
  15. Tonight's lineup: Pierre, Vizquel, Konerko, Quentin, Ramirez, De Aza, Morel, Lillibridge, Flowers Peavy vs Hochevar Hochevar has put up 4 quality starts in his last 5, with an ERA of 2.41. So enjoy the fireworks after the game.
  16. They'll go 1-2 in each of these home series. Book it.
  17. This is why you're not in it until you actually get over .500. This team isn't good enough. They weren't going to catch the Tigers anyway. They'll win 87-89 games.
  18. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) Avoid potential dp? The bench is De Aza, Vizquel, and Dunn. I'd rather keep PK in there in that situation.
  19. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) How in the hell is ozzie not pinch running for pk? Unless he gets in scoring position, there's no real point pinch-running in a 2-run game.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/rumbli...blems-revisited Move the Dbacks or Astros to the AL, eliminate divisions, play a balanced schedule (or real close), and send the top 5 in each league to the playoffs. Done. I wouldn't blame the better teams for not wanting the extra wildcard. Why should a 96-win team have to play an 84-win team in a single game or 3-game playoff to stay alive? Not winning the division isn't a good answer either. If they're going to add a playoff team, then they have to eliminate divisions and seed the top-5 in the right order. Othewise, don't do it.
  21. Buehrle is 7 starts from 30, and 45 innings from 200. He should get 8-9 more starts, so he's looking good.
  22. The home stand opponents: KC- Chen, Hochevar, Francis Cle- Jimenez, Carmona, Masterson Tex- Harrison, Ogando, Holland I see four games Dunn will sit. Sweep KC, and win 2 out of 3 against the other 2.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) Will the Sox miss Masterson next week? He's starting Friday, so we'll probably get him the last game of the series in Chicago. Ubaldo, Carmona, Masterson
  24. 94 pitches for Buehrle. Judgment call.
