On September 3rd, the Rays had a 0.5% chance of making the playoffs. The Red Sox were over 99% to make it. Baseball....greatest game in the world. Period.

Great night of baseball. I have a little problem with the way the Yankees used their pen, but screw it, the Red Sox went 7-20 in September. They don't deserve to be in.

Sox finish the season with 90 quality starts, and only go 60-30 in those games. Bad.

Marinez and Martinez were both on the Marlins 40-man, so the Sox will have to make room later today or tomorrow.

That's something that the league shouldn't allow. But since it's the Red Sox and they want them in the playoffs, they'll allow Chen to go. It's wrong.

Red Sox are trying to trade for Bruce Chen for a possible Game 163. How the hell can this be allowed? The trade deadline should be in the middle of August, and you're stuck with your organization the rest of the season. Period.

Alomar makes a lot of sense. I like the idea of a former catcher managing. The Maddon connection with Martinez is appealing, but I'm on board with Sandy, Jr. taking over.

Just realized the Brewers would have won homefield for the DS if the D-backs lost last night. D-backs/Dodgers were tied going to the 10th. Dodgers got 5 runs in the top. D-backs scored 6 in the bottom. So both 2-seed races come down to the last day as well, although less important. Tex 95-66 Det 94-67 Mil 95-66 Arz 94-67 D-backs and Tigers hold the tie-breakers.

Both wild cards will be tied on the last day of the season. Tomorrow night is going to be fun.
