The hiring is wrong, but it remains to be seen if Ventura can manage. Let's face it, if the other 29 teams had a managerial opening, most wouldn't interview him now, and none would hire him. Buehrle is gone, and they'll hang on to Danks for a half season until they fall out of it. So basically Ventura will grow into the job over the next couple years while the team struggles concurrently, and we'll know if he can manage a contending team in 2014.

Not going to dig through the thread, so I apologize if this has been mentioned... Kenny was on CTL and said the hitting coach will probably be filled within the organization. So probably Tim Laker. Not a fan of the Sox hiring roiders, but he was a product of the era.

I hope Robin can get through to Beckham about the mental side of the game. They need to give Beckham one more year, and having a manager that has gone through a similar experience may pay off for Gordon.
