Hey man. If we weren't in the middle of a pennant race or if this was earlier in the season I wouldn't have a problem with him comin up 1 bit...If he comes up and does well then that would be wonderful I would just hate to see him come up get rocked a couple times then sent back. That type of s*** can have a mental effect on some guys...

Am I comparing Cotts to Wright and Porzio? In the sense that they could give a s*** less what people on this board think and the fans think, yes. That would be the last thing on any of their minds. They are there to try to pitch well and give the team a chance to win the game. If there is pressure on Neal it would be the pressure of making his first MLB start. If he comes up and doesn't do well, then they will send him down and chalk it u p to him not being ready. He'll go back to pitching in Birmingham and pitching well. That doesn't mean he won't be upset about it, but it is much dfferent than the pressure a guy like Wright or Porzio were under. I think Cotts will hold his own. He may learn that one mistake can turn quickly into a 3-run HR in the Show, but I don't think he will embarass himself at all. The next time the 5th starter will be needed is August 12. I believe that start is in Anaheim. I agree...My point is if they bring Cotts up I wanna see him produce..Seems like some of u guys wanna see him just to see somebody other than Wright or Porzio. Or some of u r just HUGE Cotts fans and wanna see him pitch in the big leagues cause u THINK he's ready RIGHT now.

U don't see the pressure that would be on him to bring him up now? Right now? In th middle of a pennant race? 1 gm outta 1st place? We wouldn't even be talking about Cotts if Wright, Porzio, Or Stewart we're getting the job done. If we brought him up now it would be outta desperation...
-
Thanks for putting words in my mouth by the way. Now let me bgin by sayin I have no problem with Cotts. He's been a fine pitcher this year...But don't try and tell me we would bring him up just to bring him up. If he gets the job done then great. Fantastic. Will win the division. But u always have to look at the possibility of him struggling. We've got some tough ass teams we have to play this month. Teams that r fighting for the playoffs. It's gonna be very tough for him to come up in THIS situation and get the job done. I just don't wanna see him rushed into the rotation too early...

I somewhat agree with your comments on Wright...Everything u said except for the closer part. I think he could be a great closer. He's got dominating power stuff. And he wouldn't have to be so cute all the time comin up to shut a team down for 1 inning. I definitely see somethin atleast close to Eric Gagne as far as closing goes. Far as Cotts go If they bring him up then fine. If he does well great. If he sucks it could somewhat hurt his development. I think it would be a lot to ask of any young pitcher to come up in the middle of a pennant race and produce. There was no pressure on Buehrle and Garland when we brought them up in 2000. We had a 9-10 gm lead the entire 2nd half of that season up until the final week...They were just up because of injuries to Baldin and Eldred...
-
In 2000 we had the division put away by all-star break...My point is that we're lookin for production outta the 5th spot. Not just for Cotts to come up here get his feet a lil wet and get killed...If it's not alright for Wright and Porzio to suck why is it ok for Cotts?
-
LOL...Well we've totally destroyed Porzio and Wright for not getting the job done....Why wouldn't there be any pressure on Cotts? We're trying to win a division last time I checked... Because Cotts, Porzio and Wright could give a s*** what "we" think. It is not their job to worry about such drivel. Well we've been b****ing about not having a 5th starter for weeks now. Obviosuly if we bring Cotts up now there's gonna be pressure on him. When you're in a pennant chase every gm matters...If we do bring Cotts up and he sucks balls we're in the same position that were in with Wright and Porzio...
-
LMAO. My bad...Cotts....
-
Not as bad as I thought either....
-
Well we didn't get a whole lot of love in 2000. Maybe people actually think we have a real shot this year...

Baines and Walker deserve the credit for this amazing turn around. We finished 42-13 in 1983? WOW
-
I just hope Cotts doesn't buckle under the immense pressure he will be under if we do bring him up...
-
lol...We have been gettin a lot more national love of late. They were talkin about us on espn news as well...
-
We've got Mark Buehrle goin tomorrow. I like our chances
-
That's the thing Hudler. Wright does this all the time. He'll be pitching well for 3 or 4 innings and then just get rocked. He has to break that habit if he ever wants to become the dominant pitcher we all think he can be...
-
I think Wright would make a great closer. Not only does he have dominant power stuff. But as a closer he wouldn't have to be so damn cute all the time. He could just go right at fools...
-
I agree. Maybe that injury he had set him back some. But at this point unless we bring Cotts up what other options do we have?
-
lol...Right now he does...But I think he's gonna be a good one...
-
We destroyed KCs momentum. That was great. Now Seattle destroyed ours... for those who think our momentum has been destroyed and we suck after one loss, I have a book/dvd suggestion for you all for tonight lmao...wtf? I'm definitely not one of those nimrods givin up on the season cause of 1 loss. Realisticly 2 outta 3 is what we coulda hoped for in this series. We've got a good shot in doing that tomorrow. Go get em Buehrle....
-
I agree that Wright won't help us as a starter this year. He could perhaps be used in the pen. I say give Cotts a chance...
-
I agree with givin Notts a chance. Wright might not help us this year. But don't give up on him in the long term...
-
I hope u guys just don't give up on this guy and brand him a useless pitcher. It is frustrating with him. He's got great stuff but always falls into the same old traps. Both Hawk and DJ mentioned that Danny has to throw 5-7 pitches to a hitter a lot of the times. I noticed that when he had guys down 0-2, 1-2 that he couldn't put em away. He's done that a whole lot since he's been with the team. And he has to realize he's not a finesse pitcher. He's a power guy. When u got guys down blow their ass's away. And he always seems to not be able stay away from that big inning. When teams get to him they really get to him. But with all that he's still a young guy with good upside. Just don't 100% give up on him yet...
-
LOL...I agree with u Chi-sox. I don't know what's up Olderman's ass tonight. I am a lil troubled by how we lost tonight's game. I pray to god we're not not falling into that god awful sand trap of relying on the HR ball to score runs. There's just no way to maintain that type of power all the time. DJ mentioned it more then a couple times. We need baserunners, get guys over, go the other way, and so on...I'm also a lil worried bout Frank. I understand a slump is a slump. But he's not even close right now. Not hitting balls hard, drawing walks or anything. I hope he didn't jinx himself by the comments he made aboht hitting more hr's a couple weeks ago...

Remember guys. Dan has a history of good pitching performances against the Mariners. I remember a gm in 2001 when he pitched 7 2/3 innnings and gave up 1 run and had 7 or 8 so's....Foulke blew that gm in the 9th. And 2 other ones come to my mind against the M's. I'm gonna be positive and hope that Wright has figured everything out and starts pitchin like the guy that won 14 gms last year. I say if he hold them to 4 in 6 or 7 innings will be alright...
