Home Run Buck.. 4-3 Royals top 10
-
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) Tied 3-3 now, runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Gload almost hit into a double play to end it but barely beat it out. Echo... Gload hussled his ass two AB in a row, good for him. It was only runners on first too, Sweeney was out at 2nd.
-
Ross Gload... grounds into a second possible DP in last two ABs, beats it out a second time, Teahen scores, tied 3-3. BS Jones. YAH!!! ROYALS!!!
-
Anyone watching Tigers/Royals game? Tigers just scored on what coulda been a DP, Gordon threw it away, they had 1st and 2nd no outs, now 2nd and 3rd one out (Shef popped out). Damn, they were playing so well too. 1-0 Tigers bottom 6 Monroe 2 rbi single. 3-0 Tigers bottom 6. Damn it

(Breaking News) 2016 Olympic Announcement
SuperSteve replied to shoota's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 08:04 AM) The population of Greece is only about 1 million people more than the entire Chicago metropolitian area, not to mention the HUGE income disparity. Greece also was the first post 9-11 summer games, and they did not plan for the new security needs that came with that. We now have fair notice. We also have the entire US to support this bid, versus something the size of Greece/Athens. Some good points. I was just asking cause I would be worried about money issues. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) Buy vacant land south of 43rd street all the way out to Kankakee. Jesse Jr. can go all out for this third airport. Daley can go after his cross-town highway now. That major transportation project connecting all forms of public transportation can also be worked in. What is the negative out come of the Olympics coming to town....traffic is bad for two weeks? This is a huge deal and economic boom for the city's union labor as the housing market tanks. Also think about how much funding will go into the police, fire and other public entites t oimprove the infrastructure. All of this is a bad thing. Sure there will be waste involoved but no greater than the schooling systems currently in place. A great Olympics can benefit Chicago for the next 50 years and change the city flag, adding one more star. I really think they chould build an indoor stadium to be used for late season football, and early/late season baseball by both tthe cubs and Sox, Final Fours and the Superbowl. Hell, shot for a BCS game. Well, wasn't Athens well over budget and had financial issues and huge debts after 2004? -

Pac Man gone for season, Henry for 8 games
SuperSteve replied to WilliamTell's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I didn't see an Imus/Rutgers thread. So I was watching CNN and there was an angry radio host (whom happen to be a black woman) throwing all whites into a group, saying whites are the only racists basically, or atleast that is how she came across. She said blacks are only publicized if they're athletes or in trouble... so what happens next, they move on and you see Pacman and Henry's pictures and how they got in trouble. I couldn't help but laugh how she was like its only when they're athletes or in trouble and there they were haha. -

Crazy Aussies. I totally thought the same thing when I first read that. -
I've been wondering what Mariano Rivera is thinking haha

It looks like Jay is checking for oil. I agree with Ocho, poor Willie, he looks to be getting the worst of it. Hahahaha
-
I'm sure they went with the 'let him play and see what happens' attitude. Pena has impressed me a bunch, he has looked fine at the plate, not amazing, but much better than Gordon. I was hoping to get to see Ross have a break out year, and I still am, hopefully he finds his spot. Shealy isn't exactly tearing it up.
-
It was off Riske. I'm watching the game. The Royals have looked a lot better this year, I've actually seen more of their games than Sox games it seems. We'll see what they do versus Jones. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) Pudge hits a 3 run bomb in the 9th after the Royals led 2-0 virtually all game. How do the Tigers do it? I know the Royals blow, but god damnit just come back in the 6th or something. They're better than you think IMHO. They have gotten solid starting pitching so far. Just no bullpen, and a few other pieces. I have seen four games I htink now. I'm falling in love with DeJesus (who just got his third hit today). Duckworth had a very solid game today. Riske just isn't a closer.

Abolish bilingual education, Gingrich urges
SuperSteve replied to BigSqwert's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) Trying not to turn this into a flame, how does America benefit if everyone speaks English? I can easily see how having a bilingual population helps to compete in a global economy, but how does it improve America? How does it make our lives better if all immigrants spoke English? Makes people feel superior and who knows. It wouldn't effect me so much. I am sure many immigrants know they need to learn english, easier said than done. I say anyone who is against it should go move abroad trying to make a better life for their families, and be told they shouldn't speak their native language and have to learn the new language if they want to do anything... -

QUOTE(thefaint287 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) well I do it like this...... start out with the heaviest you can lift to do 10 reps max then do two sets. then lower the weight and do two more sets all the way down to where you cant do another. work it til exaustion. That works, I personally perfer more than two sets, but I can see what you're saying. If I go heavy to light, I usually get a couple heavy sets in, then get a speed endurance set in.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 11:08 AM) bunch of people? I thought it was one case? I'm not finding any other cases. I am worried when based on one case, we rewrite our laws, taking away the rights of innocent people and giving them to people who may or may not be making an innocent mistake. I can't believe I am the only person standing up for the rights of innocent people to seek justice in our legal system. I would be willing to consider it as soon as someone is actually required to pay damages for falsely accusing someone. But so far, that hasn't happened. I'll stand up for peoples rights, but if you get on a plane in these days, with the tension and issues which come with flying, you have to know, regardless of intent, you need to be 'well behaved' (in an American sense, I dunno if I can explain what I mean there, but in the American conscience, it's a given set of standards). I live in the multinational dorm at MSU, and I have plenty of Asian, Middle Eastern, and African friends, and I know I wouldn't like them being unfairly targeted, but they also wouldn't make scenes of themseleves on planes. I know they already go through enough at airports. People are goina be suspious for now on, and bringing attention to yourself is not a smart idea in any sense.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 03:29 AM) Even a person who thinks that the idea humans are causing global warming is BS like me thinks that C02 can and should be regulated. I mean why the hell wouldn't somebody want cleaner air, or at least to try and create cleaner air? I agree wholly and I am glad the vote went in favor of the clean air act.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Ohhhh the masses showed up for this speech, I see. That could actually be an okay number. I interned for Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) last semester, and not for her, but I went to so many rallies where we would have loved 100 people. Even big names don't draw a million people. A group of Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D-MI), Stabenow, and headlined by Obama drew probably around 200-300 people (def no more than 500) in Detroit at one of the unions (forget which one) leading up to the election, which was hugely debated in Michigan. We drew probably 300 for Stabenow, Granholm, and a slew of others at the opening of the Genesee County Correlated Office. Both went on to win fairly nicely. It'd be different if he declared his nomination to the presidency, but I wonder with the rally. I know I'm generalizing, but a lot of rallies arn't as big as people think. Just an observation, Oh, and I disagree with making English the official language. One question I have is it a requirement for the citizenship exam to be in english? I find it hard to believe people cannot understand ballots enough to vote, but theres always goina be someone who thinks english english english, and someone who says let anyone eligable have a fair shot. I'd rather have someone get the chance to vote in Spanish for who they truely want if they can't distinguish the english. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 02:29 AM) He only mentioned wanting to put on bulk, not flexibility or mobility. IMHO the 12, 10, 8,6,10,12 pyramid is waaaaay too many sets per exercise. I do a 'warm up' set of about 16 reps with moderately light weight, then I do 3 more sets, each one with more weight and less reps then the last. So it's 16, 8, 6, 4 reps. See I disagree. If you're maxing out, then yes. I would get up to thirty for pure endurance, as I had to be careful adding bulk to my frame as I was already cutting 20+ pounds. And wanting to put on that much bulk in such a short time would change the way you move etc. It would not be healthy. Hence why I said be careful concerning your flexibility and mobility. In five months, that much bulk, his body would not be fully able to adjust the way it should. I brought up flexibility and mobility as something to keep in mind. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) somebody got a new keyboard Yay for my girlfriend hahaha QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) Just a small comment. I am certain you have a great reason to run your weight up to that level. Along the way, think of your workouts as a lifetime journey, and build it in a way that you can sustain throughout your life. I agree 100%.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 03:32 AM) Unless you plan on juicing up, you're goal by August is just about impossible. I've always been a 'hard gainer' and this is what works for me: Forget about cardio, lifting 'light' and the 'two a days'. Cardio will burn weight off, lifting light will make you 'cut' but will not add one bit of size and two a days is over training. LIFT HEAVY, it's the only way too bulk up. Use weight that only allows you to do between 4 and 6 reps, if you can do more than 6 reps, the weight is too light, add more. Allow 3 days of recovery before you work a muscle group again. You're gonna be sore as hell since you'll be lifting extremely heavy weight. Adequate recovery time is crucial for your muscles. Eat like a horse and don't be too strict with the carbs and fat, remember you're trying to bulk up. Drink a ton of water and make sure you're getting 8 hours of sleep every night. Don't waste too much money on supplements. Pick up some whey protein with a few amino acids in it for your milk shakes and that should be enough. You're not training for the Mr. Olympia title. I disagree to a point. Lifting only heavy weights is not a great idea IMHO. You stand a chance of losing a lot of mobility and felxibility. It's a given you have to stretch every workout, but I'd say mix in lighter (I don't mean light, I mean where you hit 12, 10, 8, 6, 8, 10, 12). You shouldn't be able to do it in five months, but everyone is pretty dead on here. Putting on muscle is hard for just about everyboy. I could help you so much more on losing weight. And in all honesty, I don't think it'd be very healthy for you to put on that much muscle mass that quickly.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) If the organization wasn't so in love with Erstad in CF and put him at 1B to back up Konerko (Which was the reason he was signed in the first place), they wouldn't hafta go with an unknown dude named Wiki. I think a lot of us have known who he is for years, so I wouldn't say unknown, I would however say good grief.
