  1. Yeah, 2003-95=1908. It's an actual story from the Tribune. Why they chose to use that one on the faq page...hmm i wonder. About time they update it to the story of a real team actually accomplishing something worth the wait of 88 years.
  2. Anyone know exactly when the 13-game Ozzie plan goes on sale? I want to look into getting that deal to make sure I can go to some of the games I want.
  3. I voted for Orton. With the defense and running game as good as they are and the division as bad as it it the Bears don't need to change their qb in the middle of the season. Let Orton finish this season and at the beginning of next season have an open competition, which Rex will probably win because he's the better qb. But, already being halfway through the season and with Rex possibly being a bit rusty there's no need to change anything with the Bears in 1st place.
  4. I said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!
  5. We won!!! ...and we're still alive and well!!!
  6. Would wouldn't want to see this vs. this :puke
  7. There were a couple of pics in today's vidette. I especially liked the one of everyone running down College Avenue.
  8. http://www.pantagraph.com/stories/101805/n...051018038.shtml College students have a good time savoring victory By Brett Nauman [email protected] NORMAL -- Chanting "Let's go White Sox," hundreds of rowdy Illinois State University students spilled onto campus late Sunday night and early Monday morning to revel in the team's first World Series appearance in 46 years. Students gathered on the campus's quad and blocked traffic as they migrated to Hancock Stadium, at one point shaking the football field's goalposts, in a celebration that was wild, yet peaceful, said ISU Police Chief Ronald Swan. "It was pretty crazy," said Tom Hillstrom, a lifelong Sox fan who left his Manchester Hall dorm room and joined an excited crowd of students that police said swelled to 800 at its peak. Swan said police officers were ready for the spontaneous event. Although no one was injured and no property was damaged, officers could have a similar celebration to monitor in the next two weeks if the Sox can pull out a World Series victory. "It's safe to assume it wouldn't be a smaller crowd," Swan said. "You always have to be prepared for the worst case scenario. We did that and everyone was able to express their joy over the success of the White Sox. It was a good night." Swan said off-duty ISU police officers worked Sunday night in anticipation of the Sox win and officers from both Bloomington and Normal assisted with the crowd. Seeing the officers on campus calmed the boisterous crowd, Swan said. The White Sox haven't won the World Series since 1917 and haven't been there since 1959. Many ISU students living on-campus emerged from their dorm rooms shortly after the team won the American League Championship Series against the Anaheim Angels Sunday night. Nicole Valentino, a freshman who describes herself as a passive baseball fan, said she heard the students screaming about the Sox and occasionally chanting "Cubs Suck" from her 15th floor dorm room. "I went out there with three of my friends. I was in my slippers. It was fun," said Valentino, adding the only hint of trouble occurred when a group of students tipped over a port-a-potty. "It smelled pretty bad," she said. Mike Hart, a die-hard Cubs fan from McHenry, said there were a few loyal Sox fans in the crowd, but most were just out there for the party. Some friends even tried to convince him to join the celebration. "One of my friends called me and said 'you got to come out here,'" Hart said. "I said 'you're not even a Sox fan. She said 'I know, but this is fun.'" Hart said he told the friend he had better things to do.
  9. Pujols gets a chance to be the hero.
  10. Eckstein at first, 2 out, Edmonds up.
  11. Yeah, I was at my friend's place right by Manchester so we went outside right after the game and got a good group of people together and headed towards the quad. It was crazy to see it grow as we went from place to place.
  12. Great post! And I think I speak for every Sox fan when I say thanks for representing the Sox out west. The same goes out to everyone on this site. Thanks for representing the Sox everywhere from Australia to England to Puerto Rico to Canada to the North, South, East, and West of the U.S and everywhere else on this planet. White Sox fans are truly the best in all of sports and we have been through some tough times but we got something great going on right now and something greater on the horizon. Let's all enjoy this together.
  13. QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) I was out there celebrating with everyone. Right outside of grandstand Police blocked off lots of streets. Some of the chants: OZZIE!! OZZIE!! OZZIE!! OZZIE!! When the cops were trying to break up the crowd (to get everyone to leave and go home), The chant was, "COPS ARE CUB FANS!" GOOD STUFF! Haha, same thing down at ISU. We had some Ozzie chants, Crede chants, Paulie chants, Nanana hey hey hey goodbye, when the cop came we got a "he's a cubs fan" chant going. It was awesome.
  14. Either way, that tells you just how badass this rotation is.
  15. Anyone else just have the sound of Hawk yelling "JOE CREDE" after he hit the gw home run against the Indians forever etched in their mind? I just couldn't help but think of that when that ball went up the middle and Aaron came around to score.
  16. I saw something saying that it was the first time since sometime in the 1920s or something that 4 straight complete games have been pitched in the postseason. Wow!
  17. I wouldn't really have called it a riot as much as a parade down the streets. Nothing really happened as far as I know. It was just a great experience to share the win with many other Sox fans.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Please everyone try to stay out of prison. Oh, no doubt. When the chants start going from "Let's go White Sox" to "f*** the police" that's when I got out of there. As the crowd grew you could tell the ratio of Sox fans to idiots who just wanna start s*** goes down.
  19. Down at Illinois State there was a few thousand people that marched down the streets into the quad, the football field, the library, pretty much all across campus. Anyone else got any stories of taking it to the streets anywhere?
  20. Shoeless Joe, Frank Thomas, all the Sox of years past, Ozzie Guillen so he can start his early retirement, all the true Sox fans present and past, everyone on Soxtalk, and everyone who has doubted us this year.
  21. Fortunately I did not have this problem because I was at the game!!! Just got back into Normal about an hour ago. I can not sleep.
  22. I will be going to the game tonight, my first postseason game ever. Let's do this White Sox!
