  1. The last play-off game the Sox won was Game 4 of the 1993 ALCS to knot the series with the 'Jays at 2. There was no play-offs in 1994 because of the strike, but the Sox were leading the A.L. Central by a game when the season got the axe, if that makes you feel any better. Thanks, so we're going on a solid decade now. Wow!
  2. So, the last time any playoff games were won was in '94 right? I was only a young lad so excuse me for not knowing and being too lazy to look it up.
  3. If you don't want the sox to make the playoffs to "save them from the embarrassment", I don't think you can consider yourself a sox fan. All sox fans want this team to get hot and make it to the playoffs. But who knows what's gonna happen in the last 2 months? IF, i said if, the sox make the playoffs and win the division series, it would be the biggest thing in chicago baseball in a long time. I can't even think of the last time this happened. Just winning a game would be pretty big, the sox got swept in 2000 as did the cubs in '98. Go (to the playoffs and win) Sox!
  4. Sunday, August 3, 2003 Royals WIN Sox LOSE Twins WIN 1st-Royals 0 GB 2nd-White Sox 2 GB 3rd-Twins 4.5 GB Sox started 6-game road trip 4 GB and end only 2 GB. Let's get another sweep and sole possesion of FIRST PLACE!

Myself and a few friends will be making the 2 hour drive to the Cell on Monday. And I've heard plans of people to make the trip from even further away. I expect to see it packed. The Sox have been great the past few weeks. Even with the 2 Mariner losses, the record is 13-4 since the ASB. They deserve our support. Hopefully, Frank's return home will motivate him to get his 2,000th hit. I look forward to seeing it!
  6. Michigan DB charged with felony assault Looks like this could be a pretty big loss for the Wolverines defense. What are your thoughts on this cwsox?
  7. After hearing about your history I'm not gonna mess with ya.
  8. As long as the sox make it in, I could care less who else makes it.
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/story?id=1588791 Everyone knows that this guy meant what he said. And almost everyone agrees with him. Looks like Oakland's on their way to an AL West Division title.
  10. I saw that Jose injured his groin too. Can anyone confirm this?
  11. Let's see .. the '64 Phillies blew a, what was it?, 9 game lead with 2 weeks left in the season to the Cardinals. Anyone here ever hear of the '69 Cubs? The Angels blew a big lead to Seattle just a few years ago. Can't remember the year. This guy says two in 50 years, and I think of 3 off the top of my head. I'm not sure, but this might be a case of curving the truth. Maybe the teams you mentioned had less than a 7 game lead at the ASB but built their leads higher later in the season. Then, they gave up the lead late in the season. I love it when people tell the story so the numbers are in their favor. I could care less what some columnist from kc thinks anyways, he's just trying to keep the hometown folks happy.
  12. Yeah, Jose has really cut down on the errors this year. Except for an occasional lack of concentration, Jose's defense has been solid. Tonight he got to a ball that was on the first base side of second. He couldn't throw the guy out but he didn't throw it away. I think Jose had a tough time not knowing what his role was the last few years. He moved around from ss to 3b even to cf for awhile. Hopefully our defense stays solid for the pennant race.
  13. This is sorta like what we had going in 2000, only better. One night Konerko comes through, the next Maggs, Carlos, Jose, so on. It's almost ridiculous how many good hitters we have (when they play up to their potential).
  14. Exactly what I was thinking, but who cares?
  15. I heard the sox had the best record in the AL in the month of July. That's pretty damn good considering the terrible road trip we had before the ASB.
  16. "Jurassic" Carl Everett! I believe it is a reference to spiff's former sig.
  17. Does he really think that looks better on him than a bald head?
  18. Don't forget defense. I think that Roberto's arrival has really caused other guys to step up with their glove.
  19. August 23rd Kansas State v. California (in Kansas City) and Grambling @ San Jose State Most teams start on August 30th with a few on Thursday, August 28th
  20. Someone mentioned in another thread that Frank has proven that he can hit well as a dh. He had an MVP-like season in 2000 as the team's dh. He needs to go back to whatever was working for him then. Konerko is our first baseman.
  21. I'm gonna have to say ginter since we've only seen him once, i think, since he was called up.
  22. Here's some new rule changes for 2003. Rule Changes Two for the better. The halo rule on punts has been eliminated. Now punt returners have to call a fair catch to avoid contact. Also, an unsportsmanlike penalty after a touchdown will now be enforced on the kickoff rather than the extra point. Good to see that halo rule is gone. If you don't wanna get slammed call a fair catch. And it does make more sense to penalize the kickoff rather than the xtra pt.
  23. I thought that i'd give everyone an easy link to the top 25 coaches poll. (in case you haven't already seen it) coaches poll Illinois got one vote! Go Illini!
  24. This is why some Cub fans have even grown tired of Sammy. He's so worried about what he does and not how the team is performing. One of my best friends is a Cub fan and he said that Sosa was his least favorite player on the team even before the corked bat incident. Sammy should just go back to his "media protest" for the rest of his career.
