7/30 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm WCIU)
aprec32 replied to joejoesox's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 06:06 PM) Paulie will ground into a double play.. even with 2 outs.. I'm convinced it's all he's capable of right now. Well if its any consolation, that would easily have been a double play..............he is just terrible! -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 06:45 PM) PK is in the lineup tonight! Lets predict what Paulie does today................I say 1-4, we lose and this controversy continues! I'm hoping for something different though.

What the hell happened to our pitching/defense?
aprec32 replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) well it is probably just a coincidence but konerko came back on the 8th. just sayin' I know what others are going to say that Konerko doesn't affect what our pitchers are doing, but I cannot agree more with the above observance. We are not a very good team with Konerko. I love what he has done for the team, expecially in 2005, but he is absolutely killing us. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) Why is it that people don't want to win because of injury? Would people prefer to lose when the other team is healthy? Just honestly curious I don't give a s*** whether opposing players are injured or not. I don't wish it upon them, but if they are injured, I'm not going to say I'm saddened by any stretch of the imagination, and if said injury helps my team win more games, then it's even better. At the end of the day, I'll take the win whether the opponent is healthy or not. I agree...........that why I'm pulling for a strong case of food poisioning or something similar for this series! Grinding it out baby!

QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 12:31 AM) Manny at first, Swish stays in Center. Please No!!!!!
-
QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) We won without a barrage of HRs!!!!!! Nice to have a win where we get out to an early lead and just cruise to victory. Keeps the blood pressure down!

Best way to look at this: If you were told that we would be in 1st place in this division at the All Star break, four months ago........everyone would have been ecstatic! Yes, we should win this division.....no question. But we are only two games back in the loss column for the best record in baseball. The second half will be exciting, we are at least guaranteed that is something we should all be looking forward to.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Nice balk call by Paulie.....best thing he's done at the plate since he's been back. A brand new strategy at the plate for Paulie.............he should continue with that approach even if no one is on base! -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) I never said it's a bad thing- I was just saying that his motion resembles Line's, in my eyes. BTW- I'm calling an AJP walk off HR right here. Did you really get that in before the HR?

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) I swear listening to Hawk and DJ sometimes gets nauseating.... What now?

42-15 when we homer............right??? -
Whatever you are thinking or trying to factor in.......................we won!!! It was a well needed victory, no matter how it was delivered. Let's keep it going @ home, we'll figure this road thing out as we go forward.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) Some pretty ugly at bats tonight. Thankfully, we're back home in a few days (can anyone confirm we'll be facing Francis, Hirsh, and Cook). I've got Francis, Cook and Jimenez.

I agree that in a forum like this....or any type of fan base you will always get constant scrutiny. Thats what we as fans get to do. We have addressed just about everyone this year 63 games into it. We've bashed on Swish, OC, Alexi, AJ, Thome, PK, JD. And of course, Mr. Uribe! The only two who have gotten a pass are Crede and Q. I wonder how soon people start turning on Q if he goes into a dry spell like he has the last few games.

We suck!

I'm not sure if this is on any current thread.......If so, I apologize. As this 2008 CWS team is pretty well defined (great pitching, spotty offense to say the least), I'm sure you have given thoughts to potential moves we can make. Kenny seems to be hit or miss over the last couple of years (more hits than misses). So with all that said, what potential moves do you think are feasible/plausible for us to make hopefully in the next month or so?

Would you throw out the First Pitch at Wrigley?
aprec32 replied to JoeBatterz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (JoeBatterz @ May 18, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) I do not know if I am old school or if I set higher standards for myself or if others just have a lower threshold for crossing on to the other side. And by no means am I disparaging anybody. We all make our own choices. However, it seems to me, that if you root for one team, you would not cross to the side of your arch rival, even if you were tempted with going on the field to throw out the first pitch. Don't get me wrong, I would gladly throw out the first pitch at 28 other ballparks, in addition to at The Cell. However, if I had to do it Wrigley for work, I certainly would do it under duress and I would not act like it was the bees knees. In fact, I would rather pass on the opportunity, even if it would be the only chance I would get to go on a MLB field. Maybe going on the field does not hold a lot of weight for me, maybe I consider it part of my "fan values" to decline the offer, or maybe I am just stubborn. Can anybody imagine a Michigan fan, going to a Ohio State game and going onto the field to dot the I? What about a Bears fan getting to do the coin flip at Lambeau Field for a Packers-Lions game? What about a Notre Dame fan riding on the USC Noble white horse for a Trojan game against say ASU? All cool opportunities. Are they tempting enough for you to suspend your allegiance for a moment? What is the sense of having rivalries if the first time you get offered a "cool opportunity" by the other team, you decide to take it and then justify it by saying that you still are rooting for your team. I guess I am an all or nothing guy. If I am with my team, I can not be tempted by a cool life experience and then feel like I can come back to my team. It's like having an affair. Although, given the divorce rate in this country, probably not a good analogy. Anyways, it was good to see the feedback and voting results. Even if we disagree, always good to see other Sox fan's take on the issue. I clearly underestimated the support for my view point. Couldn't have said it better myself! Never!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Another great pitching performance put on by our staff. In case you are unaware, we are back in first place!!!! Didn't think we'd say that after the Toronto debacle. -

QUOTE (rafacosta @ May 14, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) Future all-star team snub...he is in another league when compared to his teammates. Luckily for him with this team, there is no way he can get snubbed.
