He had one great year, one awful year. Let 2014 break the tie.

Konerko to address media this afternoon

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 03:58 PM) Konerko said the only place he'd consider being a part-time player is with the White Sox. So winning another ring is not a priority to him. -
Jhonny Peralta is back and starting in LF today.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) But nobody is giving reasons why, though whitesox said if his body can't handle it. I would agree with that. I've listed a lot of reasons why he should stay. I'm not saying you feel this way, but IMO too many people refuse to accept the possibility Paulie could have a solid to very good comeback season. Or if he's healthy he might want to go on and on. How long did Thome wind up playing?? Forever. By the end he was just a pinch hitter. Did it ruin his legacy? Not really. Guys like Thome and Konerko go out on their own terms. Jim Thome played for 6 different franchises in his last 4 years. I doubt those were really "his terms". -
No Chicago Sky option?

I thought this was an interesting read. Andy Glockner on SI ranks the top 20 college basketball programs today. 1. Kansas 2. Kentucky 3. Duke 4. North Carolina 5. Michigan State 6. Louisville 7. Ohio State 8. Syracuse 9. Indiana 10. Arizona 11. Florida 12. UCLA 13. UConn 14. Wisconsin 15. Memphis 16. Texas 17. Georgetown 18. Michigan 19. Illinois 20. Gonzaga -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo 49m Mariano Rivera's appearance last night was the 1st of his career in a game in which the Yankees were out of playoff contention. (Elias) In 2008, the Yankees finished 8 games back in the division, 6 back in the WC. Rivera pitched in game #161.

Speaking of Mo, I usually hate this kind of stuff, but this was pretty awesome. http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?c_id=nyy&con...130927_12433764

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 09:45 PM) The pitching in the AL Central, outside of the Twins, is very underrated Royals lead the AL in ERA, I did not realize that.

So nice to have Parks and Rec back. Still hilarious.

Royals are eliminated already, so go Garcias and #3 draft pick.

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) Per Rotoworld: Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he is "absolutely" considering letting Mariano Rivera in center field this weekend against the Astros. Girardi isn't going to do it Thursday against the Rays because the game has playoff implications. Ideally, Rivera will play center field in the eighth inning of a game before staying in to get a save chance in the ninth inning, but that's not necessarily how it will go down. Still, it will be fascinating to watch. Why?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) Sure did, not a real big fan of the football team since I spent my youth and college years watching the Buckeyes. Not sure I know anything about Miami's team this year. The only games we went to were hockey games, football was spent in a bar watching real teams. (my roommates were Michigan, Iowa and ND fans) Sounds like about 95% of the OSU fans I have ever met, none of them went to school there. My wife went to Miami which helps you meet those type of people I guess. -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Jesus Christ, are people still using wins as a measurement in 2013? On one hand people say Sale deserves Cy Young recognition even though he's below .500, on the other Axe gets a pass for earning a whopping 4 wins as a minor league level pitcher. Sounds like double standard to me. Axe definitely gets an F in my books. He has just been god awful since May, with an ERA over 7. His overall ERA and FIP is also in the mid 5, which won't cut it at any level. Let's just say that I don't think the Sox expect opponent to hit over .300 against him. Also, Fathom's grades are WAY too generous. How can a 100 loss team has more A's and B's than D's and F's? How can Crain and Peavy's contribution to the team be graded as A and B, respectively, when they both missed significant time? You are taking my four wins comment too literally. Axelrod has no place on a MLB roster, yet a few times as a starter he put the Sox in a position to win the game. Considering his talent level, that's great. So I give him a D for overachieving. The front office gets an F for rostering him all year.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) He's mouthing off to him, gets right up next to him and Scott drops. Unless he was giving him a recipe for cookies he said something that made Scott think it was on. According to both players, Scott told Kessel he was going to jump him.

Congrats to the Kansas City Royals on a 28th consecutive season without reaching the playoffs. In today's wild card era, it truly takes effort to accomplish such a feat.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 08:22 AM) Gomez never touched home plate. Run shouldn't have counted if the Braves had been smart about it. I thought the same thing, but the recap says McCann was charged with obstructing the runner, so the run counted anyway.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 21, 2013 -> 10:52 PM) Alright Badger, it's time. One week sig bet? Didn't you actually attend Miami? One week sig bet? -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 07:13 AM) I don't care how far you just hit that ball, talking trash to a team that's 22 games ahead of you is dumb. At the same time though, the way the Braves acted to a team that's 22 games behind them is dumb too. McCann stooped down to their level.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) At the very least, Kepp, Konerko, and Axe have to be F's, as well as Flowers. How does Axe deserve an F? He is a minor league pitcher who earned four wins at the major league level. That's overachieving in my book.

Sale. A Q. A Santiago. B Danks. B- Axelrod. C Peavy. C Flowers. F Phegley. D Konerko. D Beckham. D Alexei. C- Gillaspie. B Keppinger. F Dunn. B- Rios. B- Tank. C De Aza. C- honestly didn't watch enough to give the bullpen fair grades

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) He never, ever made an error that hurt the Sox I will never forget when Sirotka nearly outdueled Pedro at Fenway but a Valentin throwing error made it a 1-0 loss.
