  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 10:12 AM) I think it is coming in another game. Girardi clearly was screaming "somebody is going to get hit" as he was leaving the field last night. No reason getting anyone suspended. Save it so you can get revenge and then have the warning issued. That was right after he pointed at Dempster and yelled "That's bulls***, you f***ing p****!".
  2. QUOTE (buckweaver @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 12:29 PM) A question...if answered in previous posts, my apologies... Why do the Yankees keep playing Rodriguez? I understand they can't cut him without responsibility for money owed. And I believe there's a certain clause that doesn't allow teams to demote players with a certain amount of service to the minors. So I concede that if healthy, he takes a 25-man roster slot. If I'm Cashman, though, I'd take my shot by telling Girardi he will play with 24 until Sept. 1 when rosters are expanded and tell Rodriguez that while he's an "on paper" member of the New York Yankees, he is no longer welcome in the clubhouse or dugout. I'd guess the goodwill created by such leadership would far outweigh any negative that comes by playing a man down. If contractual language doesn't allow banning him from the team, I'd tell Girardi he may not play him under any circumstances. Cashman needs to win ball games and make the playoffs in New York. When A-Rod was injured, these are the players that started games at 3B and their OPS on the season. Jayson Nix - .592 OPS - 28 games David Adams - .528 OPS - 29 games kevin Youkilis - .648 OPS - 20 games Luis Cruz - .424 OPS - 10 games Chris Nelson - .521 OPS - 9 games Brent Lillibridge - .394 OPS - 8 games Alberto Gonzalez - .382 OPS - 5 games Clubhouse be damned, they are a lot better team with A-Rod in the lineup, PEDs or not. If he's on the roster, Cashman has no choice but to play him for his own sake.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 10:06 AM) Just FYI, Hawk said almost the exact same thing last night. Exactly.
  4. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) Throwing ideas out there, would it seem like a possible scenario where instead of trading one of Santiago or Quintana for a young bat (an option that definitely seems like a possible situation this offseason), we could see Danks traded for a bat who is being overpaid? Two of the names that I can think of have already been thrown around in Ethier and Hamilton. I would definitely prefer to get a young, cost controlled bat on this team for the future, but I think if a situation occurs where you can trade Danks and add a bat who might not be that good anymore and overpriced (but still be an upgrade offensively for this team), you do it. Even if you have to eat more money in such a deal, Danks is such a huge question mark and I still don't think he will ever be the same pitcher he once was. Ethier & Hamilton in their mid to late 30s are huge question marks as well.
  5. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) I catch a whole lot of crap over on talkbears for this but I feel the Webb hate is overblown. I know the demotion and the pay cut don't really help my case but the guy didn't give up a sack in 8 of the last 9 games last year. That gets lost because the one game he did give up sacks was the Aldon Smith game that he got pwned in. I agree, plus he was a seventh round pick that was a project of Tice. He was no Pro Bowler, but for what the bears put into him, they more than get their moneys worth. No reason to destroy the guy. The hate should be towards the old front office that couldn't find a better player to fit at LT.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) Dempster just made himself a lot of fans tonight It's ironic that Red Sox fans are jeering a PED user.
  7. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 07:05 PM) Welp, it's not letting me in. "You cannot enter the draft for this team. (Error #439)" EDIT: Nevermind, I'm in. Yahoo signed me out and signed me in under my grandma's email? WTF??? Grandma!!! I'm on the phone, hang up!!!!
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) Why is there no second thought if a team has an all right handed rotation, yet 4 or more lefties im a rotation is taboo? As far as I am concerned the Sox should worry about quality, not from which side they throw. I agree. Any lefty who can't get righties out is already in your bullpen anyway. Donnie Veal, will you please stand up.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 06:14 PM) Does it surprise anyone that Miguel Tejada got busted for amphetamines? Along with the Big 3 in the rotation, that was the biggest glaring omission from the MoneyBall movie. The juiced up MVP winning infielder.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) Ichiro is 6 hits away from 4,000 career between the U.S. and Japan. Are you accusing him of PED use?
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 10:38 PM) If the Pats keep Tebow then its gotta charity. 1-7 -1 yards 1INT should have been two INTs. But they won the game. Tebow.
  12. QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) Barring him suddenly winning a bunch of World Series with the Phillies, I still think he ends back up with the Cubs at some point. Unless he impresses him in an interview, I don't Theo as the type to bring in an old fan favorite to coach.
  13. Charlie Manuel out as Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg in
  14. So A-Rod's people leaked the documents implicating Ryan Braun & Francisco Cervelli? Maybe that lifetime ban idea wasn't so crazy after all.
  15. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 08:28 AM) Could not agree more. Jozy is playing with a ton of confidence, and the goal on the free kick was incredible. The best thing is that Jozy and Bradley will be in their primes for two more World Cup cycles. Still need to sort out the backline (I don't really trust Evans, Castillo and F. Johnson always seem better in the MF, and there are issues at CB). Would really, really like to see Brooks get cap tied in the next set of qualifiers, but would JK pair him with Besler with that much on the line (@ CR and home Mexico right?). Brooks is too good of a talent to give any opportunity to back out, so it will be interesting to see what JK does in September. Americans just don't score on goals like that, that was so awesome.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 08:12 PM) Mark Sanchez scored 280 points higher (!!!) than the the next QB last year. If he's the starter, he's going to be the number one pick. Wow! How much are butt fumbles worth?
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 06:35 PM) I'm in a negative fantasy football league this year. Can't wait to draft Cutler. The 2nd pick is close between Cutler, Romo, & Rivers. Carson Palmer has to be a lock #1.
  18. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 07:28 PM) I've got Peavy/Buerhle on is that a bad thing? Typical Buehrle. 10 hits, 2 walks, but only 1 run. Just knows how to pitch in and out of trouble, although zero double plays is surprising.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) I think it has more to do with philosophy. He's finally figured out he is not a power hitter and is just hitting. Does that make anybody else kind of sad? I mean it's great to have him productive, but I thought the Sox had a 20-25 HR infielder when he first got to the show, not just a singles/doubles guy.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainmen...0,5806819.story Lisa Robin Kelly, actress, 43. They really use the term "star" loosely. I mean she was what, the 10th most important character on that show? Some episodes she didn't even appear in.
  21. Anybody going to the fights at the Cell tomorrow night? I was thinking about going to root on the Polish guys, but I'm not sure if the 500 level or $60 100 level seats would be any good. Don't really wanna spend anymore than that.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) You wouldn't step up to help a friend or co-worker if you knew they were having a rough spot, and someone else was pounding on them? Both Robin and Torii are just being decent people and trying to protect their teammates. Nothing wrong with that, IMO. Is the public announcement really helping them though? I don't know. Just read that Prince filed for divorce from his wife of 8 years, so there's that.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) Are you talking about their replay system (technology to display if ball is fair or foul) or their rules regarding a replay? Because if it's the former, the technology's not in the stadiums yet. Yeah, the former. Can they install that? It works so damn well with tennis. Although I guess it might be expensive for something that won't be used very often.
