  1. Crappers Rios is in the lineup for game 1
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 11:20 AM) It is interesting that the lineup hasn't been posted for a 1:10 start time today though. Yeah, that can't be a coincidence.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Well, I suppose this is telling. There may be some interest, but no one is willing to take the chance of getting stuck with the contract. I'll guess Cleveland had interest but blew much of their financial wad this previous offseason, so couldn't take the chance that we'd let them have him. I wonder if people would take on the contract if 2011 never happened. I bet there is always that fear he could revert back to that form.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 10:13 AM) Huh? McCarthy made 10 starts that year, including 4 in September. Yeah, El Duque didn't pitch from May 16-June 3 and June 14-July 18.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) I think you mean Blaine Levime Bone Loogan?
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) Levine said it's a new guy named Brett Tekotte coming up. Never heard of him. Hopefully, he's better than Blake Tekotte. Good ole Bruce Levine. He's never met a name he couldn't screw up.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:34 AM) Tekotte I would presume? Yup, Tekotte called up according to Bruce Levine
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) I just noticed on the Sox website that Garcia is not listed on the 40 man roster. He has to be there, right? He had to be on the Tigers 40 man roster since he was in the majors this season, and you can't lose your roster spot without clearing waviers, even if you're traded. Is this just an oversight on the website? They tend to be slow to update the MLB website from some reason. ESPN already has him listed on their 40-man roster.
  9. Detroit may be broke, but they still own Cleveland
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) Financial flexibility always matters. If your players aren't good enough, you better have money. More money, more options. "More money, more problems" - Notorious B.I.G.
  11. Quite the drama on the Challenge this week, but in the end that episode just felt pretty meh.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) They have Shields next year right? If they make the playoffs either this year or next year then I'd figure some people will say it's Ok. I agree that if Shields is a big part of them finally making the playoffs, it would be an OK trade for that franchise. Question is though, how many wins would they have if they never made the trade and Myers started opening day instead of Francouer. They might be in the same position.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Holy crap, Reynolds fell off a cliff after a hot start. I remember everybody proclaiming him the best free agent pickup of the offseason.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) Whatever players on the 40 man they wanted to trade would have to get by Houston. That's it. I keep forgetting that Houston is in the AL.
  15. Who has to clear waivers in order to be traded? Only guys on the 25-man or on the 40-man? That could limit who is available in a trade.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) So which team has lost a few in a row? We might surmise that Hahn thought he had a good match with one of those teams. Yankees
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) There was a rumor I saw from one of the national writers, saying BAL was claiming guys left and right, trying to block teams above them. Hopefully that isn't the case here. If that's the case, then let's stick it to the Orioles and make them take on Rios' salary.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 09:00 AM) Dennis Dodd skewered Pryor and his teammates for their actions a few years back. He just issued a formal apology http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/b...-future-at-risk To save people the trouble of having to read that article, let me quickly paraphrase it in one sentence. "My apology to the poor OSU players who just needed money, but screw Johnny Manziel, that rich, spoiled, arrogant piece of s***."
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 08:40 AM) Phillies extend Utley through 2015. Give the Phillies credit for going against the grain. Who needs to get younger?
  20. More NCAA Store fun: Joe Paterno 400 wins* shirt Autographed Reggie Bush photo from the '04 BCS title game* This isn't even the universities selling this stuff, it's the NCAA's own store.
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) Mike Trout has 1.6 Wins above replacement more than the sum of the WAR of each non-pitcher Sox player COMBINED (and I only counted the offensive players who have a WAR above 0) 2nd player in MLB history to homer on his birthday twice by the age of 22.
  22. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 12:10 AM) Joe Girardi, call your agent. He has done a great job managing this year to even have the Yankees as close they were.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) Holy f***, how many more times is Hawk going to talk about that game in KC with the rookie pitchers? As if that's proof the farm system is good. 8 rookie pitchers. Ok, Omogrosso, Axelrod, Septimo, and Marinez were in there. Big deal. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/KC...201207130.shtml BTW--Hawk keeps saying 10 rookie pitchers. Wrong. And they gave up eight earned runs in their thirteen innings. You would think they threw a shutout
  24. Did he actually plunk him? Or was it just a soft grazing?
