  1. Im hoping the tigers win all of them, momentum is all but negated over that long of a period of not playing. For example the rockies in last years playoffs. Or if you want to look at it in a cliche way momentum is only as good as your next starting pitching where the tigers are hurtin for certain, along wiht thier bullpen. So...go tigers for this next series
  2. You think with no power and a good glove second base could be an option for this guy, i bet he hasnt played there much but it seems it might work out than we could have a little more power at the hot corner
  3. I dunno dude the Tree is pretty intimidating. Imagine him being coming out of the bullpen..... "Wasting no time they go to the Tree, the Tree leads the league in ERA, K/9, and Hit batsmen. I heard he threw at his own kid in a father son game..."
  4. Id probably be upset too, even if it isnt exactly justified. Yes it was good to steal but he was dancing on second and that can be very distracting. He already had a strike on him and either he was distracted and swung at a bad pitch or he thought he had to protect the runner so it gave up another strike. And when your down 0-2, while in a slump might i add, you feel like you have no chance which he didnt. I think quiet JD jus finally let the pressure get to him and he was slumping so he said something he wouldnt have with a level head, and cabrera never being one to be the bigger man decided to yell back.

I am sick and tired of everyone saying o and uribe would be a great backup at 3b if we need him. He hasnt played there since 2004 where he played third for the first time in his career. Screw having him at third, someone find the insurance firm or used car dealship the Milkman is running and ask him if he wants to wear black again.
  6. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) Now that CC has set the market, the secondary pitchers will now come into play. I think Milwaukee paid a small price for a Cy Young winning pitcher in the heat of a pennant race. I don't care what type of prospect Laporta is, to give up mainly a AA prospect for a difference maker like Sabathia,is a steal for Brewers in my book. That means a guy like Burnett can probably be had on the cheap as well. I know the Sox had interest in him when he was on the market last time and wouldn't mind seeing them go after him again. He's not having the best of years either and that will also lower his value. He has a pretty steep salary,i think 13 mill, and that will also be incentive for Toronto to move him. The Sox have said they would like to conserve MB innings and i'm sure the same could be said about Floyd and Danks. Getting a guy like Burnett could allow that and then he could move into Contreras's spot on next years team. I'm not on top of our prospects and how they're doing but a Lance Broadway and a top AA prospect would seem to be enough now that Sabathia has been had for 1 top prospect and 3 lesser ones. I know Sabathia's value is somewhat diminished by impending free agency but to pick up a guy of his quality, at this time of year, for that price, makes these other guys alot more available to contending teams. That trade was not a steal the brewers gave up a top tier prospect and three other prospects for a great pitcher for half a season. He wont resign, so they threw four prospects to the indians who are out it, and could technically sign him back next year with the prospects (They wont resign him tho i dont think). It was a steal for the indians if they get anything out of these four prospects because they dont need him this year, and they wouldnt have resigned him anyway.
  7. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) I like this one the most. Spreading out the lefties is a good strategy, IMO. Agreed except i wouldnt have floyd second. He has been too up and down so id go for more consistancy with contreras or vazquez if his last start was an indication of him cleaning his act up
  8. The only reason the twins are still around is because they are batting in the mid 300s with RISP and about 288 with RISP/2outs. There is absolutely no way that any team can keep that pace up, let alone the twins with only two accepted good hitters. Also with their pitching, all but one of their pitchers have never thrown 200 innings in a season. Most Baker-143 Nick Blackburn-11.2 Boof Bonser-173 Livan Hernandez-204 last year Slowey-66.2 Perkins-28.2 So other than livan i dont know how all these guys can continue the pace their on. I know liriano is coming back and has done well in the minors but still he hasnt done well against major leaguers in 2 years.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) Considering he's had only 25 AB since May 15, I would say he only plays occassionally. I wonder who this board will blame when the Sox lose when Uribe is gone. I imagine it will be Thome's fault. Just think, if Uribe and Thome are gone, the Sox should probably go undefeated. There will be no blame. THe day that uribe is gone the sky will part and angels will sing...and we will never lose again.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) When you have teams looking to trade for him you start him. Not to mention I doubt Sexi would have hit a 7 run homer to end the game. Still not a good excuse and he claimed it wasnt to show him around, and trust me hes not helping his case by starting him.
  12. WHy is this clown starting. I was listening to the pre game and they said that guillen wanted to give him another start because he feels bad that he has to play one game and then sit a while and he doesnt feel thats right. Well, we dont pay him to feel bad, ramirez needed to start tonight uribe was his pitiful self yet again. And glorious Uribe struck out to end the game. I know no one person loses a game but i just dont see why youd start a backup two days in a row for no reason.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 09:47 AM) No, the only thing I have against Winwood is that he's never recorded a song I like. I guess the only real disappointment I had with Petty's set was the sequence of the songs. There were just too many songs in a row that I didn't have much interest in. It probably would have been more palatable if the songs I liked were sprinkled in between the ones I didn't. As it played out, it was 1/3 I liked, then 1/3 I didn't, then 1/3 I did. So 2/3 good is more than okay in the big picture. Although I am AGAINST any artist playing a cover song in an encore unless that cover song is what you're most famous for. (example would have been Quiet Riot playing Cum On Feel The Noize as an encore). Petty has enough great tunes to avoid Gloria as an encore. I agree the pacing wasnt the best as the middle was a little slow, but i thought that even tho tom isnt known for the goria cover it is a great song and he made it his own and really got the crowd involved. Of course there are other songs such as the ones you mentioned that woulda been great for the encore.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 08:20 AM) No, I was in row 3 getting beer dumped on me twice during the first song by some wobbly drunk-ass f***head. And no, I didn't find Gimme Some Lovin' entertaining at all. I've never liked that song, and I really didn't want to hear Steve Winwood and the Heartbreakers. Some songs I'd have rather heard, just off the top of my head: The Waiting I Need To Know Here Comes My Girl You Got Lucky OH, and no Breakdown? That was the song that got me into them in the first place along with American Girl. Touche i forgot about breakdown it is also one of my favorites as well as i need to know here comes my girl and you got lucky but he cant play everthing hes well known for i thought he did a good job of picking songs. Also, i think you have a personal issue with mr. winwood....point on the doll where he touched you son.

^^^ I was up in the 300's too. I loved it just because tom petty could yodel up there and id love it. I thought winwood was boring too, i didnt know that he had turned into a jam band playing fifteen minute songs, but bring me a higher love was good and tell me that gimme some lovin wasnt awesome. Also what other songs from petty did you want there were some lesser known ones i wanted to hear but the only major song i was dissapointed not to hear was The Waiting. i wrote down the setlist if anyone is interested. You wreck me Listen to her heart I wont back down Even the losers Free fallin Mary janes last dance sweet willy end of the line (great travelling wilburys song) Cant find my way home sung with winwood Gimme some lovin wit Winwood Saving Grace Honey Bee face in the crowd you dont know how it feels learning to fly dont come around here no more refugee ENCORE running down a dream Gloria American Girl O and hey you werent the guy three rows in front of me blowin chronic at all the "narcs" were you?
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 07:43 AM) Man, is it good to hear that Danks is all but signed and that we haven't given up on Long just yet. However, if we can't get long, we should use the money we were going to give him and try to sign some of the later round picks out of high school who dropped because of signability concerns. If we miss out on Long but then get James McCann and Randall Thorpe, I'll be very happy. This is turning into a great draft for us and really putting some talent into the system. Mcann and Thorpe would be awesome but have they even thought about them much, youd figure theyd have to give them a pretty good bonus to get them to sign and being such late picks that looks unlikely. Have you heard anything about the sox makin a move?
  18. Yea man maybe your right wise sure did look terrible against borowski on tuesday, we shoulda let anderson hit. That was such a dumb move by ozzie. I mean well never know what anderson woulda done but if i had to guess he woulda got a base hit stole second and scored. O wait
  19. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) haha thanks, but yeah sheesh TCQ just was throwing it out there Dude you know i like you your cool, with those things that you do at the place that one time but come on man...come on
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) CC has been hot, Contreras has been meh...that means one thing to me. They're due. Bring on the fattie with the crooked cap. Woah Woah Woah Woah....There is absolutely no need to make fun of his cap.
  21. Many ramirez is an arrogant ungrateful jerk. I remember last year when they were in the playoffs and he said i dont care if we win people act like we wont be back. That is the worst attitude ive ever heard. He is just another example of a person given all the talent in the world and taking it for granted. What if he had blown his knee out the first day of his career hed be back in the dominican picking mangos, he disgusts me.
  22. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) It could also be very beneficial though, especially with some very close games against Oakland due to their phenomenal pitching, I think having an off-day would keep our pen fresh and hopefully allow Bobby to be ready for 2 or 3 games this weekend. No one should want a day off competitors want to play and win everyday Rule no. 75 no excuses play like a champion.
