  1. Thome would be batting 500 right now if he could ground weakly to third base. At least 500 maybe 591, but well never know.
  2. Not after weve won 6 in a row, but then again i wouldnt miss the game then as tonight i will be at the UC rockin wit Tom Petty
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Until Danks can get past the 6th inning, he's no ace... Looks nice though! Ha nice reverse jinxing he went 8
  4. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) If Wise keeps performing well at the plate and on the bases, one has to wonder if either BA or Ozuna is going to get sent down. While it may be odd to have five outfielders on the roster (although Swish could be considered a 1B), I don't see the point in keeping Ozuna around if Wise has significant offensive value and BA has significant defensive value. Another option would be to go with the standard 11 pitchers until the rosters expand in September. F'n awesome win last night. (And an important one, as Sabathia's on the mound tonight.) Last year's team would've folded after Blake homered in the 10th. This team may not have the magic of '05, but there's something special going on. I coulda sworn the papers have been talking about either uribe or ozuna going when konereko comes back because guillen likes wise a lot. I cant blame hed be a great pinch runner as he showed after a great hit off of a pitcher that i could have hit off when i was 12. ( it was a good hit i just think jobo's career is a joke.)
  5. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) That is really surprising since we are 3rd in batting "Close and Late" which is probably the best indicator of timely hitting (.271). It is really odd to see that we've had the least chances with 2-outs and RISP. Minnesota also had that easy streak vs AA pitching from the NL to pad their numbers. Also, 10 of our last 12 runs have come with 2 outs, and 15 of our last 23. So I would say that we are doing a much better job with 2 outs and RISP than we were earlier in the year. Well researched sir, bonus point for you and good day.
  6. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 10:39 AM) Is Ozzie's plan of attack automatically to always sit back and hope for a home run, no matter who is up? This situation has come up so many times recently and it baffles me why we aren't doing some fundamental things. Last night, I think it was 6th inning - JD up with 1st and 2nd nobody out - and then GIDPs. There has to be a better plan of attack for this situation with our atrocious RISP batting average. Jermaine Dye is arguably the best hitter on our team right now, what do you want them to do with him bunt? The only thing that i partially argee with is certain strategy. I think that if we would hit to the opposite field or just hit grounders to the right side with guys on second or third with less than two outs wed knock in a bunch more runners.
  7. How exactly are we acquiring Homer Bailey again?
  8. Fine im done arguing its not a big deal. One thing for me is that im all down with sabermetrics but how can u trust range factor that routinely has a 1st basemen with almost double range factors then those of shortstops, and more so for other positions?
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) Range factor, zone rating, RZR, etc. don't tell me about FPCT and # of errors. And Gold Gloves are a completely useless metric to judge somebody by. Fld Pct and errors is the most straight foward accepted way of judging the defensive skill of a player, more importantly a middle infielder. The fact is that of all the balls hit to short OC makes more of them become outs. And while gold gloves arent necessarily the highest factor to judge someone by it proves that a large group of people acknowledge that there is no one clearly better than that player. I dont know how there are so many uribe supporters, Uribe does have a better arm ill admit that but i cant remember a time when cabreras arm has severely hindered him, and david eckstein has made a career with a very weak arm.
  10. Not including this year where uribe has played almost half as many games as OC at a less challenging position of 2b (Not by much but it is), two out of the last three years OC had a better fielding percentage, fewer errors, and turned more DP's. Some other people have to agree with me because last year Uribe was the starting ss for the sox and cabrera was for the Angels, and Orlando Cabrera won the gold glove at short for the AL last year..not Uribe.
  11. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) Why in the heck would the Sox deal the face of their franchise to a competitive team when they're in first place? That doesn't make any sense. Neither does dealing the best defensive infielder in the organization for an A-baller or fringe prospect when, again, the Sox are in first place. This isn't exactly the time to be throwing away a good insurance policy for a fringe minor-leaguer. Plz tell me you dont mean Uribe is the best defensive infielder in the organization.
  12. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) Why? 9 games, no matter how good those 9 games have been, is no where near enough to anoint a 28th rounder a 2012 starting outfielder. Unless someone has seen a scouting report or two that say he's a beast that slipped due to signability issues (which I don't believe is the case) then it really isn't a good pick at all. It really has nothing to do with hows hes done so far. I am happy wit hows hes doin but i want him to succeed because im hopin hes gonna be as good as when of his fellow college alums howie kendrick. So i like more on a personal level than necessarily that i think hes gonna be a huge star based on a few weeks of play.
  13. Love the Brandon Short Plug right there...No one thinks the local boy Dubler can ever become anything?
  14. Game notes The all-time series is tied 33-33. ... The crowd of 39,573 was the third straight sellout and sixth of the season for the White Sox. There were several fights in the stands. ... The White Sox turned four double plays Sunday night.
  15. I know its well documented that the Sox have been a homerun heavy team for a while. The team is built to play at the cell 81 times a year and Hrs are a big part of the gameplan here. One thing that worries me is that ESPN showed a stat yesterday that the sox are something like 43-11 when they homer. It pisses me off i cant remember what the exact stat was did anyone else see this?
  16. Yes and with Swish at first Anderson is playing a great cf improving outfield defense as well as infield
  17. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) Vazquez is 31 and has a career 4.29 ERA. His ERA in 2008 is 4.49. What were your expectations? Maybe they've been unrealistic because he's pretty much in-line with his career norms. Exactly and hes never won more than 15 games in a season, so hes no ace. Hopefully he will get a lil more consistant. All he has to do is throw strikes its not about being afraid, its about not being mentally tough, piling up a few poor starts isnt helping his confidence and thats all he needs. Hopefully one good start can snap him out of this.
  18. That is priceless ^^^^ Hey Rose is prolly a sox fan right simeons on the south side isnt it?
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) And LeBron shooting 80 foot jump shots. Lebron cant hit 80 foot jump shots? Everything i know is unraveling at the seams.

    Why not Wise

At no point did i say is the savior. Also id like for someone to make an argument as to why not to give him a chance to leadoff, other than sayin cabrera is doing well. Cabrera did not leadoff last year and he hit 300. I know Wise wont be able to keep it up all year most likely, but why not ride his current hot streak?
  21. TCQ

    Why not Wise

Exactly but this wont happen because most likely the same logic that ozzie placed on the uribe situation. Alexei doing good, and Uribe comes in and gets one hit and he starts the next three games.
  22. Why not leadoff Wise when he plays. I know he is not the answer for this team, but we should rise his hot streak. He can steal bases and has done well since being recalled. OC is not a true leadoff guy and if you put him at two you could move AJ behind Jermaine maybe or even put him towards the end, to give him more of chance to knock in runs with the way hes been hitting. I know this isnt the solution for the rest of the year but a shakeup wouldnt hurt. Except maybe not today against a good lefty weve never seen, nothing will help us today.
  23. QUOTE (TCQ @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 08:43 AM) Does every Serbian last name end in "ic"? I was being sarcastic like i think its wrong that everyone makes fun of serbian last names, now those nappy headed hoes on the other hand....
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) American's say that every year about their basketball team. It's easy to go undefeated in qualifiers when you play Costa Rica and Barbados. Let me also just say I'm dissapointed in the selections of my Serbian team. Stojakovic left off again, as well as Rakocevic and Jaric. We'll have to rely on the bigs again with Milicic and Krstic down low. Does every Serbian last name end in "ic"?
  25. That he pitched too much thing is BS, back in the good old days there were no relievers, a starting pitcher could easily throw three hundred innings a year. Pitchers today are babied too much, and im not buying that that is why he now is the highest paid batting practice pitcher.
