  3. Well that about wraps up getting another SP for the sox Edit http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3531866
  4. By no means am i complaining but with how good this guy was he should be much higher on this list. Its just too bad not many on this site actually saw him play. Also you forgot to mention he used to dip like a southern trucker.
  5. If you're on my wavelength here, you might understand that just playing catch can connect you to the game in a way no boxseat ticket can. Your old mit need not be just a family relic. Feel the seams against your fingers as you throw, and perhaps you will sense a kind of magic that connects you to the likes of Fox, Minoso and Baines. I think this is why i love baseball so much. Some people say o its just a game, but its not. Its more its that feeling you get when your playing it, watching it, or as im sure many of you can attest to, just thinking about memories from back in the day. thank you for posting this as its so refreshing to see someone with this kind of passion for just about anything these days.
  6. I have a buddy at notre dame he said that most people at least on the team hated rudy...f-ing movie magic thats all. And i heard they never even chanted his name. That was movie magic too. And i heard Jon Favreau never went there neither. My whole lifes been a lie up to this point.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) Closest thing I have to a real connection to anyone. Woah thats kinda depressing...Ill be your friend if you want

Also with the addition of Teixiera the angels OPS should go up some. 08 Sox (Just because im bored at work) 61-49 BA-.266 ERA-.395 Pitching K:BB-2.5:1 WHIP-1.31 SB- 48 SB/G-.43 OBP-.337 OPS-.783 Hitting K:BB-1.84:1 RA/Game-4.4 RF/Game-4.9 Errors/Game-.74 If this team showed some consistancy througout this season they would be doing much better.

  11. How bout a tell kenny jr to hang em up option
  12. I would hope we traded anderson only because weve been pissin in his cheerios for a while now and he may become suicidal. Other than that there is no way that any decent prospect is traded for him, ever. And swish isnt going anywhere for what we traded for him and how long hes locked up. This could lead to another trade or not. I am very happy we got him and i thnk he will be a major contributor if he can get regular at bats. Also i will take him in center, yes he has lost a step or 6 but he still has good instincts and is a wiley vet. Hopefully he doesnt get in any rundowns or dive for any balls.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) Funny thing is that Uribe is a GG caliber player at the most important position on the team. His third base defense would be GG without a doubt. If you don't sing and dance and unnecessarily run into walls, forget about you. Anderson and Uribe add more to a team but because the press isn't blowing them, they get no respect at all. If Anderson was given the opportunity that Swisher has this season, the Sox would be a better team but the commercials and dugout highlites wouldn't be all that entertaining. s*** Reed Johnson is a poor man's Brian Anderson and he is loved by the cubbie nation...I know the stats don't show this but given the opportunity, Anderson would be. Christ, Jermaine needs to put MVP stats to get any type of recognition yet he has been one of the better hitting outfielders in the game while he has been here and possibly could be the most unappreciated Sox player in history or at least since Dick Allen or Albert Belle and no I am not joking. Where is the Greg Walker / Jim Thome love in regard to a new appraoch to going the opposite way. In the 8th inning Sunday he adjusted his swing to go to left and drove in two runs because of it, yet no new thread praising this. Thome needed to adjust and he has, now Swisher and Konerko need to do something. Thome understands what he needs to do and appears to be doing it unfortuately there is nobody behind him until they get to Ramirez. Why and the hell he is still batting 9th is beyond me. Isnt it ironic that this thread was started to ask about swisher love, and i again see this unfounded uribe at third love. Yes he has the arm for it but he has two errors in only 4 games, plus a bonehead play he made the other day iirc. Everyone thinks he can play third but prior to this year where his d has been less than stellar he hadnt played there since he played 19 games there in 04. Wheres all this uribe love coming from? (Sorry to kinda go off topic didnt want to start a whole new thread on this and its partially relevent)
  14. Stop posting videos of konerko in 05 or 06. It is now 08 and he sucks, we will all move on. Live on nostalgia for now, but when you turn the game on and theres a guy on base with konerko up its no longer an rbi oppurtunity its a GIDP oppurtunity.
  15. I totally agree that vazquez has the best pure stuff on our team and probably now in the division with sabathia gone, but he will never put it together. He is the perfect example of all the talent in the world but without the head. Hes never won more than 16 games in a seasons which he did once, and i dont think he ever will win more because he lacks concentration. I cant tell for sure this is exactly why but someone else give a reason why someone with all the talent in the world cant put it together.
  16. I dunno if this has been said but just because we are actually talkning about this means most likely none of this will happen...
  17. ^^^ Reading that was like watching Fantasia on an acid trip....Id take it though i suppose. We may have to then go out to armor square park and just ask people to fill our minor league rosters.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) oh, and I believe the title of this thread should real "TCQ4MVP"...we Sox fans and our little initialisms. It's cute as hell. Well thank you im blushing but i havent seen much of the field this year...

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) IIRC, there was a Falco's in Hinsdale off of South Kingery Hwy....is that still there too? Yes but it moved from that dingy shack that was hard to get into, about 50 feet to the left where a dunkin donuts used to be. How can only one person have mentioned rosatis best thin crust in town. The old man and i can put away a family size sausage by ourselves its so good
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) Again, Sean Gallagher is far better than most people on here realize. The guy will win more games over the next 5 years than Harden and Chacin will. Gustavo Chacin was in that harden deal?>??? howd i miss that i love me a hefty glasses wearing lefty
  22. Goose Gossage over Jenks, and i find it hard to believe jermaine dye would ever start on any teams all time roster. Edit: Interesting http://chicago.about.com/od/chicagocubswhi...BestPlayers.htm
  23. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Entering Wednesday's game, Chicago's No. 8 hitters led the Major Leagues in average (.281), home runs (21) and RBIs (62) Did you know that, entering today Chicago's no 7 hitter is leading the major leagues in infield singles that are hit to the third basemen during day games whenever a relief pitcher with a name that ends in s is pitching? Betcha didnt know that. Edit: Ya know what i checked it and this is only the case on days that end in Y
