  1. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 07:54 AM) Toby at First? Hasnt that turned out badly in the past?? Also i hope Jimmy doesnt start today hes a downgrade in the field and against a lefty with a good breaking ball hed be better served as a pinch hitter once they bring the bullpen in. Also if anyone was interested ESPN has us as an underdog thanks to their full proof Accuscore system....so i guess we can just pack it in. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview?gameId=280620116
  2. egbert got beat like he stole somethin
  3. Momentum is only as good as your next starting pitcher.....and im pretty comfortable with danksy :headbang
  4. If we dont continue the ongoing train that is being run on gorzelanny i will be pissed. I think he has the highest era of any starter in the league.
  5. "I said what what? In the butt! We can do it in my butt. In my butt!
  6. Hey Hey Doug Thennis HR in his pro debut.... People related to White Sox Personel 0-3 two walks and a run
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:20 AM) And Ozzie led the Sox to getting swept in Detroit and losing 2 out of 3 to the Rockies. Don't blame the manager on 3 freaking games. How is it Manuel's fault that Thomas and Konerko didn't get a hit the entire series? Because its always the managers fault, silly.
  8. "Thats right podium...take it you slut, ehem uh...
  9. "Man...I really shoulda pooped before the game."
  10. ...I really thought you were joking, i wrote it in my diary that you made a very funny joke today...Wow. I thought they wanted to win, but hey he led us charging into the humiliating sweep in seattle in 2000 maybe he can do it again
  11. So we only have eight people signed?: I was reading this thing today that the Brewers have 20 of their picks signed.
  12. I was watchin Baseball Tonight the other day and they were doing their best of so far awards. THey gave the sox bullpen the best in the AL, and rightfully so, but he gave the cubs the best starting pitching in the NL? Also no recognition of the sox starters, dont they lead the league in quality starts and are the sole reason this teams in first. The Cubs thing is laughable because Z, whens hes not crying or beating something like an ape, is legitimate and then thats about. I dont see dempster throwing 200 innings a year after closing and after him lilly and marquis have been inconsistant.

    question

Very good points i could drive myself crazy trying to figure out why uribe got the starts that he did, for one thing. Alexei had won the starting 2b job wiht extremely solid play, and uribe gets one hit and hes back to stater? I would rather of had Pablo in the outfield and Alexei back at second.
  14. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 08:01 AM) Here is what I'm struggling with. Sox fans are frustrated with the all-or-nothing type offense, understandably so. All these strikeouts, big swings, and lack of contact hitting. So the proposed solution? Bring up guys like Brad Eldred and Josh Fields, both of whom are striking out a ton in Triple A. That's not a solution, that's a let's throw something at the wall and see if it sticks. Fields is down to .251 now and Eldred isn't much higher. Striking out once every three times in AAA doesn't scream solution to me. They need to bring someone in from the outside. If someone like Jermaine or Alexei got hurt and we brought up Eldred i could agree with this, but the fact is that one of supposed power hitters/ Rbi guys got hurt. So, bringing up a power hitter would be logical, Konerko, when he isnt grounding into double plays struckout and got out a myriad of other ways (although he was starting to come around) so bringing up a guy with the pop that Eldred has wouldnt be a bad idea.
  15. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 03:07 AM) No when they draft him they decide which position they want him as, they'll say something like "Long, Kyle and can we have him listed as a pitcher". You're not going to get him specifically listed as a pitcher and then use him as a hitter. O sweet good contribution, you must have been in the warroom with kenny when he asked for a player to be drafted without any possibility of playing another position. Konerko was drafted as a Catcher Btw, so they musta been like "Hey Konerko, Paul and can we have him listed as a catcher and then put a caption underneath that which says (NEVER TO BE MADE INTO A FIRST BASEMEN)"
  16. Proves Loaizas a bum. THey wanted to trade and couldnt so they just dumped him. Hopefully Coop can save his career again. Smart move by kenny i have to say, but hopefully uribe does still go
  17. This would have all the makings of a drastically terrible cataclysm of events that would eventually end up with the Four Horsemen (Pestilence[White Horse], War[Red Horse]. Famine[black Horse], and Death[Pale Green Horse]) ravaging the world, mere minutes after the rapture takes all the righteous souls up to heaven and leaves the sinful LEFT BELOW!!!!! Or maybe we could just start a riot and break some windows and steal tvs and stuff. Or maybe nothing will happen its really a crapshoot. I gave a brief description of the horsemen in case the apocalypse does happen, in which case many of the members of soxtalk will need to be prepared (BearSox) to make a final stand, which will abruptly end in the face of the ungodly torture and anguish......Go Sox
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) Taveras would be much better than Owens due to the fact they are about on par speed wise (Owens might be a tick faster, but Taveras has the better technique, IMO), and Taveras can actually play D and he has a very strong arm. If he'd come cheap, I'd much rather have him on the bench than Owens. What great leaps in technique has tavares made over owens and how can you even judge that, do you watch the rockies too, or just remember the 4 games in 05?
  19. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 06:03 AM) Very cool. Did JR spring for booze and hookers too? That woulda been classy
  20. Yes he has done some great things, but that aggressiveness has also ended up with the sox having todd ritchie, david wells (when he didnt care), dangelo jiminez and billy koch.
  21. That was quick... thanks anything on kendricks senior season? ino im getting ahead of myself just curious
  22. Does anyone know anythin about him. I couldnt find any stats on him and wondered if he could maybe one day become as good as another St John's River CC alum, Howie Kendrick Extremely optimistic ino, but i just wanted to know if anyone had any stats on him.
  23. No way that ball toucher Lilly beats contreras the way hes pitching.
  24. Aight lets get em signed, then get em a haircut and hell be all ready to go
  25. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 07:04 PM) What does my baseball experience have to do with anything? What, you have to be a pro to be able to evaluate prospects? For your information, I have been playing baseball my whole entire life, and have been following it my whole life. Granted, I might not even be able drink legally yet, but I think for the almost 20 years I have practically lived baseball, I have picked up on a few things. Does this make me a pro-scout? Far from it... but as someone who was born holding a baseball bat and has been hitting his whole life and has studied hitting his whole life, I think I have decent knowledge of a players hitting ability. No....Just because you watch baseball doesnt mean you can evalutate a pro athelte. Also im pretty sure only professional scouts and those that have played higher level baseball should be the best at evaluating talent. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul. PS So you cant drink but for 20 years you have been hitting and studying since coming out of the womb. You must of had some great hand eye coordination as a baby.
