KW is having a private meeting with him, prepping him on being a hitting coach.

Great inning for the O, not so much for Gav. BTW, Joba only went 2.1 in his debut with 2 ER and 4 BB.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) About as many as Yaz will get. Don't forget the "how accurate Eckersley was" lecture. 1st and 3rd, 0 outs after getting 4 the previous inning- where have I seen this before? *cough* Buehrle

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) are we gonna hear the johnny bench, pudge rodriguez, miguel olivo throwing arm topic from hawk tonight? Better yet- over/under? How many Catfish references from Hawk tonight?

Babe Ruth comes through again for us. Looks like next time we'll score is when #20 comes up again.

So I stopped watching WWE- anybody want to fill me in on some storylines (include the Mickie/Cena one). -
OZZIE PROMISED IT AND REALLY SHOWED WHAT A MAN HE IS!! Maybe, just maybe, he hopes Konerko and Thome can rack up some RBI in that part of the lineup, and then when they do, trade them for a guy who will do it more consistently- Jason Bay, for example.

QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) I'm predicting the lineup will break out tonight and get a bunch of hits... and I'm predicting we'll get more hits (x 1000) than tonight's attendance. For instance 16 hits = 16000 ... will be higher than tonight's attendance. I'll take you up on that bet. The question is- what are we going to bet? We'll have a great series hitting, then play MIN and get a combined 12 hits in the series.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) Let's chew on that comparison. On paper Rose measures up better than Paul in almost every aspect... ridiculous. Now you'll get the "CP3 played better competition arguments", which are BS. Class rank for Rose- NA. More and more I think about it, just take Rose, take DJ White or the best PF/C available in the 2nd, find a way to get Brand, and go from there. -
QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) Who was the pitcher in that game when it was snapped? McDowell? No clue.

If that's the case, we don't need another DP/pop out to 1st machine In all seriousness, if Alvarez falls to us because he wants too much money, and we don't take him, I'll be mighty POed. He will one day be an All Star. He will hit .320 with 25 HR repeatedly, year after year. This way, maybe we can deal Crede to a team this year at the break, and bring up Fields. He can play until Alvarez is ready, and then hopefully deal Fields to another team to get some more in the farm. However, if CQ gets hurt 1 or 2 times for a fairly long stretch between the time we draft Alvarez (IF we take him) and he's ready, maybe we can keep Fields and stick him in LF if CQ does in fact get injured.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) The cubs are so much better than every team in the NL IMO. Its just not close. They are basically an AL club playing in the NL Amen. Sure, they are beating awful teams, but don't you have to beat bad teams? I'll be more convinced, however, after they have to go to Toronto and TB. Pitching probables show they'll have to face Burnett, Halladay, Kazmir, and Shields.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:11 AM) Elton Brand That's my mistake in the first place for ever thinking Beasley would be the C. He'd be PF. My fault. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) The upside to possibly keeping Wade out for another season is that the Bulls add yet another lottery pick (most likely) and then are monstrously stacked when Wade returns in 2009-2010. Maybe we get lucky and land a Brandon Jennings? Jennings Wade Deng Beasley Noah Is it a total stretch? Absolutely. But it's fun to look at. That would be awesome. Many compare him to a 1970s type of player, given the style of play and the flat top he's got. He reminds me a lot of a street player, with his moves, but he's a great basketball player with the talent he has. He reminds me of Kidd, with a jumpshot.

Bonds will want that money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but SF gave him around $20 million to play last season.

Saw Ozzie at the airport. Signed my hat. Not that he's a Sock, but coming out of the Bulls game I saw Hester in his red/maroon Escalade to my right, and then right in front of me was Jeter. I assume it was him because 1. it was a Bentley 2. it had Michigan plates and 3. the only thing on the license plate was "2".

Don't draft the top 125. That simple...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:23 AM) That game last night was purely enjoyable. The Red Wings definitely might be sluggish tomorrow night with their old legs and the fact that they were already picturing themselves with Lord Stanley's Cup in the air... Pittsburgh scoring so late to tie it, coupled with Fleury standing on his head, just might take the wind out of the proverbial sales. I'd have to think the Pens are going to be highly favored at home, and hopefully they can force a Game 7. Fantastic hockey. Sid the Kid really struggled to establish himself last night though... pretty much a non-factor. Their 2 best offensive players in Zetterberg and Datsyuk are both in the 25-28 age range. Not quite old. -
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) I think the key words for me were, "Dwyane Wade says". If it's the Tribune making s*** up, okay, dismiss it immediately. But when it's Wade doing the talking...it doesn't mean anything in particular, but, damn, that's intriguing. 2 years ago, I would have been yelling at Pax to make the trade like I was last offseason when Kobe-to-the-Bulls rumors came up. However, if we make the trade and it's Gordon, Hinrich, and the #1 for Wade and the #2, it could inevitably be Gordon, Hinrich, and Rose for Beasley.

Blackhawks Offseason Thread

Why is everyone so against Jagr? His last 3 seasons: GP G A 82 54 69 82 30 66 82 25 46 He's just an older version of Hossa, and he'll come way cheaper. This would allow us to get another top-notch forward, and the PP QB that we desperately need, and the best one out there in Brian Campbell at about $7.1 a year. And don't say you don't want the man because he said that he'd rather not participate in shoot-outs. Maybe he's trying to help the team, maybe that's not a strong point for him. I'd rather have Kane, Toews, and Sharp, anyway. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) Agreed. The Hawks should have two things on their mind. 1) Figure out the future at goaltending 2) Get Marion Hossa in here Here's their future. Let Lalime walk, and switch around Khabby and Crawford as the starter. If Crawford out plays him, Khabby can be the back-up and tutor him. There really isn't a goalie market in this offseason. Next year, Ryan Miller and Martin Biron are UFA's, so there's a possibility. Biron will be 36 by that time, though. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) Sign Barry Bonds I know that was probably sarcasm, but there's no way JR/KW would pony up $22 million for 1 year for Barry, especially not at this time with all the charges.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:52 AM) and he seems to pitch great against the sox, 5-2 2.88 era in 11 career starts. he had an era under 2 against us last year...... Incorrect. Hee's 0-4 with a mid 4 ERA at The Cell in his career, and he's 2-6 with a 4.1 ERA vs the Sox lifetime.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 06:24 AM) This can't be serious. Why would the Heat do this? Not sure. Apparently they think Rose and Marion can win them the East.

Get to Greinke early. Hopefully this is a win leading to a sweep!
